Reset in progress
We need to wear them down with hits, and somehow find our offensive touch. I would love for us to have a series where our offense finally wakes up.
That's what's both good and bad about the Kings this season. They have been able to get this far without playing to their potential. However if they keep doing that it may finally bite them in the butt. However if they wake up...watch out NHL.We need to wear them down with hits, and somehow find our offensive touch. I think the Kings have begun to really find their game from about the third period of game four against San Jose. Since then, they have really improved their breakout and neutral zone play, the defensemen are playing up-ice more to pinch down the boards on offense and control gaps on defense, and the forwards are attacking with more speed and purpose. Before that point, the only games that I'd say the Kings really played to their potential were game four against St. Louis and game one against San Jose. That's what's both good and bad about the Kings this season. Clifford will need to lay down the law right off the bat with that kid Shaw and make sure he doesn't mess around with Quickie or pulling a trick like he did on Filppula tonight.
He's definitely someone we have to keep a close eye on.Clifford will need to lay down the law right off the bat with that kid Shaw and make sure he doesn't mess around with Quickie or pulling a trick like he did on Filppula tonight.
The Kings don't need Clifford taking stupid penalties against Andrew Shaw. He is already taking enough stupid penalties without going out of his way after players.
Shaw will take stupid penalties, his motor is non-stop but he doesn't have any hockey sense at all, his penalty on a 3 on 2 tonight about sums it up.
Clifford and Shaw are similar in that both have a non-stop motor, which is not a good trait to have. Sometimes you need to slow things down and let the game come to you, neither guy does that and they end up in the box. Stoll used to be like this too, but something changed earlier in the year, I can't even remember the last time Stoll took a stupid penalty.
The Kings need to be smart this series, they don't want to be killing penalties against this team, and for the love of god no 5 on 3's.
At least our PK will improve...they have Kompon...
The Kings are behind in the skill department, they have more depth and talent throughout their forward ranks than we do, I think the defense is a wash, we have a clear cut advantage in goal.
The Kings need to clog the neutral zone and prevent the Hawks from entering with speed on the wing and making cross ice passes in the offensive zone, that is one weakness with Quick's aggressive style.
One area the Kings do have a big advantage is down the middle. I have no idea who Coach Q is going to match Toews up against in this series, but whichever center isn't matched up with them should be able to exploit the matchup, especially with as poorly as Dave Bolland is playing. This may be the series Richards and Carter have a ton of room 5 on 5.
We both just won Game 7's at home, IMO the Kings beat a much stronger team than the Hawks did, not sure if that will matter.
I'm going with the Kings in 6 because Jonathan Quick is in a zone we haven't seen since Hasek in the late 90's.
But it is absolutely vital that the Kings win atleast one game here in Chicago this weekend, if the Hawks win both the Kings are done.

Need goals from these two.
You may be right, but remember, the Blues and Sharks won both their first two home games, and it didn't help them in the end. We will of course have to steal one in their barn, but it doesn't have to be in the first two (although I would rather it was...both if possible )
