Who knows the NHL/CHL transfer rules really well? From what I read, an NHL drafted player has to be 20 by the end of the calendar year, or have played 4 seasons in juniors to be AHL-eligible. Derrick Pouliot will only be 19 on 12/31, but he has played for Portland for 4 seasons, though his first year (09-10) he only played 7 games. Is there a minimum games required for a year of junior service? I'm not having much luck finding the specific rules anywhere. I suck at google apparently...

I'm 99% sure his 7 games wont qualify as his 1st year, not sure what the minimum number of games is but I guess it's at least 30.

Maybe in the regular season. In the playoffs his play was chip puck in, get muscled off puck or chip puck in push some one. This is for another thread though.

On topic, last year I remember people making a big deal about Bennett not scoring despite a lot of us who went saying he was the best forward on ice.

I even remember a comment "If he can't score in a rookie scrimmage how will he score in the NHL?"

To be fair, Beau did only score 3 goals in the regular season

Can't tell you the exact numbers either but those very early junior games (usually under 10 in a season with the player under 16, happens most often in the WHL) do not count when you determine the 4 seasons of junior eligibility. They're effectively the same as an amateur tryout in the AHL. So Pouliot has to play a 4th season of juniors unless he sticks in the NHL.

Loosely related mind-blowing trivia: Bobby Orr was a full-time OHL player at age 14...

Is it wrong that I want us to sign Nejezchleb just to hear Steiggy and Errey try to pronounce it?

Pouliot has the best hockey sense out of all of our prospects, forwards and defensmen combined.

Liked Segalla and Guentzel as well.

- Pouliot had some good rushes and passes
- Maguire was very solid in net, never losing track of the puck
- Payerl looks like a man among boys
- Segalla looks smaller than I expected, but very active
- Guentzel is a shifty little bugger

Problem with Megna is he looks legit in these situations, but he's never put it together in a proper game situation. Guentzel doesn't get thrown around as much as you'd expect him to be at the weight he's at.
