Not really. He had 6 goals for us in 07-08, but 2 of them were in the same game I remember, and I don't remember the others.

Come on dude lets not kid ourselves. Asham was easily our worst player that year. I know you think every Rangers is better than any Devil though.

He did not fit in well with the team during his brief pitstop in NJ.
But you know he has a heavy shot and he's proven to score a few timely playoff goals in his career.
It's not like Cam or Peters scored Monday night-which would be shocking.

Actually, them celebrating after the series on our center ice, raising there sticks to the crowd was the cherry on the ass cake. Chico saying "this makes me sick" after the Ranger fans were cheering after Game 5. Holy god, EVERYTHING about that playoff series was an absolute debacle.

I don't think they did that as a team, in fact I remember Renney (to his credit) specifically told them not to do the stick salute. But Lundqvist DID take a victory lap around the arena. Which is why his tears last year were so delicious.

The funny thing about Asham is that one of Sutter's best moments when he was here was the 'whatever' comment. 'Whatever, yeah...You've been playing like whatever for two months!'

Alright Cam and Peters I disliked more than him maybe. Maybe not so much Cam back in the day, but yeah the Cam Janssen version 2.0 yes.

Yeah I loved reading about that confrontation. For days later they kept asking both Brent, and Arron if they had a talk to clear the air. Each day they would say ''Yeah I plan to him in the next day or two'' and then after a couple days they both said ''I didn't feel the need to really talk to him. I don't take anything personal'' or something like that.

Asham was really bad for us. Maybe one rung higher than the countless other useless goons we've had like Boulton, Peters, Janssen 2.0, P3L.

The ones I can't stand the most are the ones that don't do anywhere near as well here as they do for other teams. Asham definitely fit into that category, he was supposed to be an enforcer with hockey skills and didn't really do either all that much here, but has done that before and since the Devils. Hell Rolston v2.0 (though not in the goon discussion) was a prime example of someone who was a good player until he came back here and did ****.

Volchenkov fits that criteria. Dude was on Ottawa's first pairing when they went to the finals. Rob Niedermeyer as well. Played well during the first month then turned into a complete waste of sterm. He was WAY better on Anaheim.

My biggest problem with Rolston was his cap hit. He would have been pretty good for $1.5 million less if it was gonna be 4 years. He never played like a $5 million guy other than the first couple months of 09-10 in Patty's absence. He was on pace for over 30 goals like halfway through the season, and only scored 5 the last half which one of them was an empty net gift from Kovy. He was pretty damn good in the second half of 10-11 though, I'll give him that.

I actually liked Rob Niedermayer, but he was just used in a 3rd/4th line role.

The player I couldn't stand the most from that team other than Peters/PL3 was Jay Pandolfo. He was incredibly painful to watch for the last 2 years with the Devils. It seemed to start after he got that contract. Would have preferred letting him walk in the Summer of 08, and signing John Madden to a one year deal the next Summer instead of him leaving.

Well Robbie was finished when he got here, that's a little different. I was more pissed we got him a few years too late to keep his brother, it's almost like his presence was taunting us

Volch fits on the one hand, but on the other I don't get the impression effort is an issue with him, the way I did Asham and Rolston.

Looking back on it Jacques didn't treat Pandolfo very well in the end, but at the time I had read about it I was so happy because Pandolfo was not even a shell of himself anymore. When I found out they were making him dress in the practice locker room I was hoping the next stop would be making him dress outside across the street in the courthouse parking lot.

I actually liked Asham when he was here. Sutter for some reason didn't. Man, the list of questions or complaints I have about the Sutter era has been increasing a lot lately. I don't think its a coincidence that hes unemployed right now.

Not many remember this incident

Devils coach Brent Sutter and right wing Arron Asham got into a heated, profanity-laced exchange near the end of this afternoon's intense practice at Prudential Center. Most of what was said can't be printed, but Asham said it started because he didn't chip the puck in the way Sutter wanted. Asham said something about the puck bouncing and Sutter ripped into him. There were a lot of expletives from both sides of the conversation. At one point, Asham tried to dismiss Sutter by saying, "Whatever", to which Sutter replied, "Whatever? That's the way you've been playing for two weeks." Eventually, Sutter told Asham "to sit down" on the bench (but with a few unprintable words mixed in) and practice continued without further incident.

With the exception of Greene and MAYBE Larsson, Oduya is better than anyone on our blueline right now. That's kind of sad.

I really liked Oduya when he was here and was sad to see him go, though I'd do that trade any day. It's hard to say he's better than most of our dmen because he is playing with some pretty damn good players in Chicago.

Absolute snipe tonight though.

He's played well for them the whole year. Hes had a couple goals like that. Besides for the end to end rush against the Canes that one game I can't remember how many impressive goals he scored for us like he did tonight. Him and Martin were a pretty decent pairing back then but they got muscled off the puck constantly. But yea when your playing behind Keith and Seabrook things are a little bit better. He was playing behind White and Matteau who were considered the "shut down pairing" when he was here so.....yea that's a bit different

how did the "out of town score board" become "player discussion?"

I think I may have started it when talking about Oduya, and Asham being snipers all of the sudden, and how they weren't when they were with us.

it was a rhetorical question. :p:

Well at least we can get back on topic now that the Rangers and Leafs game is starting soon!:sarcasm::laugh:

Seriously though I'm glad Boston came back to win. I think the Leafs are an easier opponent for the Rangers.

Boston needs to start hitting more

C'mon Lucic!!!

The Rangers are getting away with so much holding and interference. Not that it matters since the Bruins pp is awful, but still.

Jagr was just held.

Same **** was going on in the Caps series. The Rangers were rarely whistled for it.
