They can lose one in OT, yes.

Rangers go 3-3, they clinch.
They need to go 2-4-1 at best with 2 of those regulation losses coming to us.

2-3-1, they only have six games left including the two with us. They lost their game in hand tonight. But that's if we win six in a row, which is pretty unlikely since it would actually entail us scoring at least one goal in every game (regulation or shootout).

Yea, fail math.

If we don't go 6 in a row, we aren't getting in.

5-1?

They just need 4 points (2 wins) to clinch so would have to go 1-4-1 at best.

4-2?

They just need 2 points (1 win) to clinch so would have to go 0-5-1 at best.

They play the Panthers twice so 6-0 is really the only way we're getting in unless a double miracle occurs.

We need to go 6-0, no way around that. Kovy's return could spark things as the team is playing well overall, they loosened up and win one I could see more come with them.

Other problem and why this is a Pluto shot, is the Jets need to lose 3 out of their last 5 as well. They have a tougher schedule with games against the Caps, Isles, and Habs, but still. Basically need two collapses to happen, and we only have partial control over one of them.

Jets eliminate us if they get 6 points as well. They have 5 games left so they can go at best 2-2-1 and we'd still be able to get in.

That's much more likely to happen than the Rangers collapsing completely.

I think the only thing we realistically have a shot of playing for is knocking the Rangers out of the playoffs.

Well ya, I think everyone knows the playoffs are an unrealistic expectation. Still nice to take a shot at it though. If there is any hope we need the Jets to lose Thursday.

I think we can definitely end the Rags season one way or the other though.

Updated the Magic/Elimination number thread.

6 points is still our elimination number and we've moved down to 8th overall in the draft. Would be 7th if Edmonton somehow wins tonight.

Ideal scenerio would be for the Devils to knock out the Rags the last game of the season at MSG, but I'd rather the Rags be eliminated by then to be honest.

I would not have faith in Team Jersey to get it done.

The Sharks goal horn is like the brown noise. My stomach is doing somersaults after hearing it twice in a minute

Haha it is pretty funny sounding. It's not bad like the weak sounding ones in Anaheim and Carolina though!

It sounds like a fog horn right? Unless they changed it. I always like their horn. Ya Cane's horn is awful, as is their crazy goal song with Chewie and all the other stupid noises.

Yeah it's a fog horn. The Anaheim one kinda is too, but only weaker.

cant find my post who wanted to go to the rangers game on Sun. I have two section 8 tickets 5 rows up now in my hand. I guess I rather them go to a devils fan, they are on stub hub. or we can do it through here with COD UPS but would have to be done today, latest tomorrow. Friday would be have to meet if u live close to wayne, nj or, Nanuet, NY or RYE ny, or Rutherford, NJ ( I can hand of tickets to family that work or live in all these places)

Just so I have this straight.

NJ must win all of their 6 remaining games. They can "technically" afford a loss, but the noose becomes even tighter than it already is and they're pretty much choked out at this point. Losing is basically not an option.

Then we need both the Rangers and Jets to pick up no more than 5 points in their remaining games. Philly and Buffalo are no worry because if NJ picks up 12 straight points, they wont be an issue.

We got this.

There's a better chance of them losing all 6 games and not scoring more than 6 total goals than seeing them win all 6.

But, it would be delightful to have happen.
If it does I will set up an open bar for anyone to join for an hour at some bar prior to a playoff game.

Our best hopes are really to prevent the Rags from getting in, misery loves company, if we can't get in, sure don't want them nor Philly qualifying either. ;)

At least I don't have to change my name to Bleedorange! That really would have sucked. I was confident enough to say the Flyers definitely wouldn't make the playoffs though.

Devils Dominion wasn't quite as confident.;)

It was a long shot for Philly to qualify at the time and still is now.

But they were about 7 or 8 points behind us when I said they were playing good and would pass us. For all we know the Devils still may finish ahead of them, but unless we're getting in I'd rather see Philly surpass us anyway.

And it would be sad to see your name changed to BleedOrange, and see a mug shot of a Flyers announcer as your avatar.
