Isles finally look like a team that is slowly going to take that next step and perhaps elevate further over the next few years with some of that other talent also coming up soon.

Only issue they have is in goal as Nabokov is only a short term guy the next year or two at his age.

I actually think the Isles are one of those teams that is benefitting from the short sprint of a season. I'm not sure they can sustain it over a longer period, especially next year in the tougher division with only Nabokov playing in goal. They also need to retain Streit, they can ill-afford him walking in FA.

Not getting much help tonight. The finals nails are close to be hammered into the coffin. Only hope we might have are the 2 games at the Garden against the Rangers. If we win both of those and a couple other games while they falter a bit we might have a chance. Odds of that happening are slim.

saturday the rangers play the islanders, and we all know the islanders will probably roll over and die after winning tonight.

Despite his struggles this year I think Poulin is good young goalie going forward for them

Agreed. I don't really trust them getting in during an 82 game season. We've seen them near the bubble plenty of times after 48 games the last few seasons.

The Sharks power play is really bad. Any chance they can take Shaw back? Or trade us Larry back for Shaw?

What are you disputing exactly? The Devils have looked like a bottom feeder since late February.
I agree, the Devils have looked bad in some games, but there have been others in which they completely dominated.

And after the games on April 1, we were 6th in the conference and 2nd in the division. My math says that we were in the playoffs at that time, but not at this. So which month does it seem to be in which we fell lower than 8th place in the conference?

Hope Tampa comes back. Prefer Philly over Ottawa. Carolina looks shot.

Islanders are on a roll. And they don't even have some of their young guns up.

Live by Giroux's lack of discipline last year, die by it this year. Greatest player in the world my ***, Lavy.

after the most ridiculous series in playoff history. that will never happen again. that's why i don't buy the whole "pens are overrated"

at this point i hope the pens stomp through the east. conference blows beyond belief.

And to further beat the dead horse with more negativity, the Jets are also going to be four points ahead of us now too. Granted, we have two games in hand but still, even the Southeast teams are getting away. That's ANOTHER spot to jump over.

This was brought up elsewhere, but this is almost certainly going to be the first year the Devils 'and' Flyers miss the playoffs in the same season.

When you're in the position of hoping that certain teams lose every single night, all that says is that your team isn't very good. That said, I really despise the bruins something ****ing fierce. I'm really tired of the Devils getting ****ed sideways by that team. It's really incredible at this point.

The scores tonight are pretty much the lowering of the coffin. They're getting awfully close to the point where they're going to have to run the table just to even have a chance in those last couple of games of the season. Tomorrow is a must win game and it has to be won in regulation as well. Anything less and I think it's pretty fair to say that they're "officially" done. Honestly, I really don't think I'd even be too upset if they lost it. I appreciate that they're still trying but these last two months of watching them chase their own tails, well it has to be done with. They're just not getting any reward for anything they do and it almost feels like it would be better just to get it over with.

What worries me is the walls have closed in so much now, tomorrow may start the meltdown phase where the team caves in. The only thing that might hold it off is the hunger to get 'any' win to end the losing streak before it becomes completely insane. That's pretty much all I care about at this point now, getting at least three wins and finishing somewhat respectably in these final games instead of having a complete nuclear disaster.
