Stevens didn't really believe in dumb superstitions. 2001 I guess since it was back to back. I don't know. But Marty told Zach not to touch last year as well. I remember watching him go up to Marty and he said "NO"

I think Mike richards touched it when philly won in 2010

Digging into their hockey archives, ESPN found four instances since 1991 when a team's captain lifted their conference trophy and went on to win the Stanley Cup. Mario Lemieux (1991) and Scott Stevens (2000, 2003) both bucked tradition and left fingerprints on the Prince of Wales trophy. In 1997, Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman had no fear and lifted the Clarence Campbell Bowl and a week later was celebrating a Stanley Cup victory.

I thought I remembered hearing somewhere that Marty basically told Zach to go with his gut feeling. Maybe Marty told him to touch the trophy, then JP told him otherwise.:sarcasm:

If you watch the trophy presentation, Pierre interviews Parise and afterwards, Parise gives Henrique a hug. After that, he says something to Brodeur and you can see Brodeur shaking his head at him. My guess is that's when he asked if he should touch it.

I don't have a problem with it.

4:25 mark.

Yeah, he asked Brodeur I remember him getting asked and said to Pierre or someone "I will ask some people and we'll see". And clearly Marty said no way.

On another note, why interview players pre-game, those non-answer cliches are almost depressing in how mechanical and pointless they are.

So, NHL's "Tournament of Champions" final four has really fizzled. Hopefully an Original Six Stanley Cup Finals will do better.

That first goal is a joke for the supposed best goalie in the league. It would be understandable if we played 82 with him being burned out like that. That goal is more comedy worthy than Claude's goal on hextall in the 95 ECF. That was something that was frequent back in the 80s when goalies looked like scarecrows an not bloated mushrooms like quick does. Second goal was pretty much his fault too. His performance this series reminds me Roy in the 02 WCF. Roy was ten years older and playing in his fourth straight conference final. Quick is rattled clearly.

I'm shocked these Conference Finals have been so lopsided, but I'm glad they're going the way I want them to. I could really get into a Bruins/Hawks Final. No Rangers, Kings, Wings, Penguins, Flyers winning the Cup and I'm good.

is the united center always this quiet?

nbc lowers the mics, but it sounds dead in there

Sounded quiet to me, too, but the crowd got really loud and stood on their feet to cheer the Hawks when the period ended, so it might just be NBC.

Holy crap this intermission report is awful. Milbury can't remember how many games it took for BOS to beat PIT (Game 7? Game 4?) and he thinks that if PIT had tied the game late in Game 4, 'we would be talking about another game'. Uh, no. The game just would have gone to overtime. Boston still could have won.

Quick is probably the goat in this series. He was awesome in games 1 and 3. Was really bad in game 2. Was okay last game but gave up a really bad one early and now this one. Crawford has been so much better. That Keith goal will be on highlight reels for years to come like Claude on hextall in 95.

He was also very light on quick. He was giving it to Crawford after that goal against Detroit in game 7 and it wasn't even half as bad as that blast from 1983 that we just saw:laugh:
