i really think that Lapierre and Nystrom will be signed by NYR

they would be a big upgrade over Asham and Powe..

Lapierre would make this team harder to play against and would add some speed to the lineup... he also kills penalties as well.. Mark Fristic is the type of dman i hope the Rangers target this summer.. someone with some grit and toughness, a mentor for McIlrath for whenever he makes the team.. Rangers should not put pressure on McIlrath as the only tough defenseman.. he is only 20 years old.

Kreider Stepan Nash
Hagelin Brassard Callahan
Zuccarello Miller Nystrom
Lapierre Boyle Dorsett

Girardi Staal
McDonagh Moore
Fristic Stralman

Del Zotto traded at draft hopefully

I do agree w lapiere . He fits on a energy 4th line and vs division rivals, did av like him?

Def a physical D but we need someone who plays the right side

Phaneuf plays the right side, it's his natural side despite being left handed.

McDonagh-Phaneuf
Staal-Stralman
Moore-Del Zotto

I'd seriously consider flipping Girardi for Phaneuf. It's a downgrade defensively, but he's got a cannon of a shot and would really help the PP.

*Waits to get flamed*

Phaneuf played mostly LD last season after playing RD most of his career.

Girardi for Phaneuf is a no-brainer.

I would downgrade the D slightly in exchange for the D to create more offense because we have the best goalie in the world. How big on a downgrade is it?

Cally can score. I have no idea why people have been advocating giving him 3rd line minutes for years. Certainly on a very, very deep team Callahan probably moves down to the 3rd; but he's been scoring at a decent pace for quite a while (according to TSN, he's good for 22nd in the league in GPG in the last three seasons). I'd keep Callahan to Brassard's right along with Zucc or Kreider on the left.

Actually, for all the complaining about depth, I see 7 guys who could fit onto AV's proposed two scoring lines.

Nash
Stepan
Brassard
Callahan
Kreider
Hagelin
Zuccarello

Stepan, Nash, and BrassGod are locks... so who out of the remaining four plays on the two-way 3rd line? I'd say Hagelin because his speed means he can create more offense on his own. Callahan has been better on the rush, especially after obviously being taught that deke move by Nash and working on some shifty stickhandling, but needs to play with a good center. This is my lineup.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash

Stepan and Nash feed off each other so well, I can't understand Torts obsession with splitting them all the time. An unleashed Chris Kreider on the left side is exactly what they need to bring some speed to the top line. Stepan should have a field day if AV is going to start them in the offensive zone 2/3 of the time and emphasize creativity instead of dump-and-chase, especially with two guys who can seriously shoot the puck flanking him.

Zuccarello - Brassard - Callahan

I like the idea of sticking these two playmakers (Brass/Zucc) together with Cally, who has a nice bit of scoring touch, on the right. Should really be able to create some room out there.

Hagelin - Miller - Briere (2 yrs/$6 mill)

Speed and good defensive play with Hagelin and Miller, and a nice offensive player with Briere. Perhaps not as obviously defensive with Briere on the right, but I'd like to see some secondary scoring to put the pressure on the other team.

Asham/Powe - Boyle - Dorsett

See it, skate to it, hit it. Nice energy line.

Obviously, if Fast or Lindberg dominates in the preseason like Stepan did in 2010-11, you gotta find room for him.

If Minnesota is really considering trading Clutterbuck I think we should be all over that.

MDZ for Clutterbuck and Brodziak/Coyle would be an awesome trade for us.

Imagine a third line of Hagelin Brodziak Clutterbuck

I'm drooling.

i would think so... Lapierre was 7th in terms of forwards for ice time in the regular season with 604 minutes played. on average he got 12 minutes a night.. im guessing he will be one of the first players signed like Prust was last year... i hope Sather gets him quick. i would not like it if he went to the Islanders or Penguins :help: he is one of the best pest type players around.

No it wouldn't. Clutterbuck isn't that good. Coyle isn't going anywhere, either.

I'd flip two of our thirds for Clutterbuck. Minnesota is only trading him because they need cap space, MDZ doesn't help with that.

Clutterbuck is a great 3rd line pest type player.. id love to have him depending on the cost...

That third line is a defensive nightmare

lets sign another injury prone over 30 player like Briere.. some fans dont learn.... i dont want him at all.

Eklund (yeah I know) says Rangers and Flames are discussing multiple player deal. He was right about the lockout but a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.. Anyway, if true who do u think we would target

Could be any of Glencross, Cammalleri, Stempniak, or Tanguay. I'd want Stempniak/Glencross the most out of that list, although I wouldn't mind Cammy as he's a goal scoring LW.
