LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have acquired forward Matt Frattin, goaltender Ben Scrivens and a second round draft selection from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for goaltender Jonathan Bernier, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced this morning.
Frattin this past season played in 25 regular season games with the Maple Leafs. He recorded 13 points – including seven goals (three of which were game-winning goals) – and he enjoyed a plus-six rating. During the playoffs, the first postseason action of his career, he played in six games and recorded two assists. He also this past season played in 21 games for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League during the NHL lockout.
The second round draft selection acquired by the Kings as part of today’s trade will be in 2014 or 2015 (Toronto’s option).
Bernier joined the Kings when the club selected the netminder in the first round (11th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He played in 62 career regular season games with the Kings (plus one postseason contest) and had a 29-20-6 record, a .912 save percentage, a 2.36 goals-against-average and six shutouts.
