If we keep Richards, the Rangers really can't do much.. maybe bring in two more guys ( a del zotto trade, and a bottom 6 guy)

so.. With Richards next year.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
XX (Del zotto trade)- Brassard- Callahan
Kreider-Richards-Zucc
XX - Boyle- Dorsett

realistically, thats what I see our team being.

Oh my god, what a horrific line. Just thinking about that line trying to play in it's own end is giving me (and AV, too) nightmares.

I'd keep Brass and Zucc together, and but Richards with Cally, in that instance.

sorry its late.. I meant Zucc with Brassard and whoever we trade for. and Callahan someone defensively responsible with Kreider and Richards.

All good. Just had to point out the defensive terror that line would be, it's actually something I might want to witness, but ONLY once, just to see how porous it would be.

on the main board, carolina fans agreed with Skinner + Mcbain for Staal and Boyle. Would you guys be on board with that? A #1 LW we lack, and a RHD that we lack for a 3rd pair to put with Moore or Del Zotto.

Make it Murphy instead of McBain and I may bite. If Boyle is indeed on the block, I think the Rangers can get a good pick or prospect for him. If he goes, I think most of us will be surprised about the return in a good way.

If Staal is going to Carolina, Faulk + 1st is coming back.
McBain can be had for peanuts.

Absolutely not. The Rangers lack NHL center depth as it is, Boyle isn't getting moved unless an upgrade at C is coming back. Skinner is also a player who will likely continue to suffer injuries from the style of game he plays.

Would consider Skinner and Tlusty for Staal and Boyle. Not McBain, he's pretty bad. Not really interested in Skinner period, to be honest, he's small, fragile, and his contract is huge.

As I said before, if we're going for an overpaid scoring winger, let it be Eberle, who may be moved to address Edmonton's problem at defense.

Every GM says the same thing at the end of every season. "We are looking to get bigger, stronger and faster". "Younger too". Kreider is all of those things. Kreider had something with Stepan and Nash late in the playoffs. Two big strong wingers on the same line. They will be a load to handle. Stepan in the middle. Acquire another left winger who can play in the top nine. Clowe should have been that guy but his name should be Slowe and he wants too much in his next contract. Drop Hagelin to the 3rd line but he won't be just a 3rd liner. He can play in all different situations.

Yea I agree w this. It could go down even though I would cry a little it's not a bad deal , lol. Ld still would have mc d and dz and rd girardi , Faulk top 4 , Moore and stralman bottom pair

TJ Brennan just went to Nashville, hes cheap and very Brassard like minded. Send DelZotto there and maybe even steak a pick.

There's no way we're getting Faulk and a top 5 pick for Staal. It's ludicrous.

likely right but I ask:laugh:

does Carolina have another 1st? What did Jordan go for? Was it not the 7th or something plus Sutter and a good young Dman?

If so its not likely but not insane

Given that the Rangers have been in contact with the Avs for O'Reilly, does anyone think the Rangers could be in on Stastny if/when he is moved?

With McKinnon looking like the first overall pick, it would appear that Stastny is the odd man out, presumably for help on the back end.

I'm not saying I necessarily want it, my question is could the Rangers do it? Would the Rangers do it? Seems like a typical Ranger move... Stastny had a rough 2013. Big cap hit but only one year left. The Rangers could absorb it for one season with a Richards buyout, no? as much as I personally would be on the fence I'm not sure how the org feels with some real question marks at center. Can Stepan repeat? Can Brassard maintain? Will Lindberg/Miller be ready?

I agree.

I wouldn't rule out targeting a center for Del Zotto, either.

But as for targets on the wing, Eberle or Paajarvi.

Add a little extra, get a little extra, Jeff Petry for defense depth.

I think we all agree that flipping DZ for a top 6 forward is an option.
I was interested if you had names where we keep DZ and get a young 3rd line forward with upside who can grow with the team.

Ah, gotcha. I'd prefer to add a 1st or 2nd line forward and move Hagelin or Kreider to the 3rd line and see which one of them can lock down the other top-six LW spot.

I honestly hope not. I don't want more average skaters. This team needs more speed with its skill. He has a big contract. I'd rather they roll with Lindberg as their #3 and either Miller or Boyle the #4.

If we want a center as the return for Del Zotto, id still prefer Schenn, Burmistrov, or Ferraro.

If all we get for DZ is Burmistrov, Trouba sure as hell better be coming the other way.

It so hard to find that righty shot on D. I was looking at the rosters again this morning on the train. The Blues and Kings have 2 of them in Petro/Shattenkirk and Doughty/Voynov.

Both teams have good scouts for finding or trading for one of those guys, but the other (Doughty and Pietrangelo, respectively) came as a result of sucking for an extended period of time. We have our good righty in Girardi that we signed, now we need to trade for one.

Vatanen. Sproul. Ouelett. Barrie. Elliot. Up and coming right handed puck movers. Detroit and Colorado have two each of the five I just listed. A deal can be made.

It is. At some point in the next couple of years the Rangers are going to have a glut of forwards again with a lot of young players pushing for spots and young players in the way.
