Says who?

Have you even watched a single game that either Fast or Lindberg played in?

He had 42 points in 55 games in the SEL this year, and won the SEL equivalent of the Conn Smythe.

Fast had 35 points in 47 games.

Both are very competent (especially Lindberg) defensively.

I think many people believe they are going to need to start in the AHL this year as they adjust to the ice.

Lindberg can and will play NHL game direct, you could see that in WC, and he was a beast in SEL playoff.

Fasth needs AHL time i think, but lindberg can surley be on the team

It has nothing to do with the Bruins. Torres has been a great even-strength producer for a long time now.

great for a 3rd liner? Great?

Yep. If it wasn't for his suspensions I would have been totally on board with the Rangers signing him. He adds a serious physical presence and he has some good hockey skills on top of that. Effective player.

The question isn't whether we can use him; it's at what comp level? He's not a $4M per player. And if he's so desireable why is he on his 7th team in 9 full years in the league?

 ... Of course Marchand would fight Ribeiro.

Or, of course Ribiero would fight Marchand; two punks meet in an alley.

He was on a ~40 point pace this season, 17 of his 18 points were ES.

Last year he had 25 ES points.

The year prior to that, another 25.

And the year prior to the prior year. 26.

So, yes. Great.

EDIT: Can you please use the damn multi quote button? Don't need 4 posts in a row from the same person.

Saying these guys are ready before they've really had a chance to prove it isn't a good strategy going into the season. One of our biggest problems this year was that management assumed the Kreider was ready and he wasn't. These kids need to beat out vets or other kids for spots. They don't need to be assumed to be ready.

In a salary cap world with a goalie who will likely be earning 8M+ you have to project a few ELCs into your lineup. These two played very well in a men's league; not the Q and appear to be ready to prime time. A little different than CK who came straight from the NCAA.

At even-strength, he's really produced at top-six levels. He's put up 1.82 points per 60 minutes of 5 on 5 ice time over his past five seasons. Four Ranger forwards had more than that this season.

Damn? Calm down. 25 ES points is not great. Am I being punked?

Aside from Step and Nash I wouldn't say any of our other forwards had "great" offensive production at ES. And I wouldn't even say they were great; they were very productive at ES.

Now we're splitting hairs. If he didn't have a history of suspensions, how high a number would you give this guy if he didn't re-up with San Jose?

OK, not great in the absolute sense.

Great for the money he's getting.

If he had no history of suspensions, I would have no hesitations about giving him ~$9.5 million/3 seasons.

Also, you should stop using other GMs opinions as a standard of evaluation unless you're ready to admit that Jeff Halpern is subordinate.

Shaw is a *****, he hardly backs it up. He is a better player than Lapierre, though.

Brad Marchand stands up for himself? More than Sean Avery?

The notion that Brad Marchand "stands up for himself" is actually literally laughable.

Probably the most gutless puke in the league.

Point taken, yea my comment was not fully thought through. But Lapierre certainly does not back up his actions the vast majority of the time.

I applaud you for acknowledging this and also for superb usage of the multi-quote function, which is a valuable tool that makes this board a better place.

I really want to bring Briere in here. If he stays healthy, you can lock him in for 15-20 goals and 25-30 assists. If management is serious about competing for a Cup, you need another proven playoff performer. Plus, he can play LW and fill a glaring hole in the lineup. You would also have to think playing for a French-Canadian in Vigneault or playing WITH a French-Canadian like BrassGod would help him quite a bit... they tend to be all fancy-shmancy with the puck, right? :sarcasm:

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Briere - Brassard - Callahan
Kreider - Lindberg/Miller - Zuccarello
Dorsett - Boyle - Powe/Asham

Needs a 3c. I don't trust miller or fast off the bat. Otherwise solid lineup :)

Would live to sign Briere for cheap. The guy works his magic in the playoffs when we need it most.

Would take some pressure off of Nash too.

I have watched both Lindberg and Fast play. They have raw talent that shows great potential. But you cannot expect them to just jump into the NHL. I'm not saying the SEL is a physically weak league but you're expecting these two to jump on NA sized iced with less room and guys like Lucic running around, no problem just because of what their stats show. That's a little ridiculous.

Norwegian media With some zuke "News" - it goes With this tidbit;

In the Daily News, Pat Leonard writes that Glen Sather fully expects the four RFAs, Ryan McDonagh, Derek Stepan, Carl Hagelin and Mats Zuccarello, to be re-signed and part of the team next year.

McDonagh and Hagelin are arbitration eligible.

Google translate With "help" from me...

The agent of the only NHL player, former national team defender Erik Ryman, confirms that a new contract could be "right around the corner"

- It is what Sather said. There are only details remaining. I think it will solve itself. But Mats wants to have a one-way contract, with a length of two to three years says Erik Ryman.

- It might be a meeting as early as next Thursday before the NHL draft (next Sunday). However, it will in any case happen after it.

Mats wants to play in the NHL and at New York Rangers, he is in a good position. They are happy with what he did after he came back, says Erik Ryman

Subordinate to who? And by referencing other GMs you are addressing my comment on Torres' propensity to change squads, I think it's hard to ignore his numerous address changes. Usually tells you something about the player.

What does it tell you about Halpern then?
