That's what, like 11m on the third line?

Yeah... No. Time to stop buying overpriced UFAs.

Lindberg. Fast. Thomas. Hrvik. These guys are the future. Give them chances to prove themselves. We need young hungry bodies to help.

Follow up to my previous post. Here is a list of all the UFAs who were regular PKers (top 6 among forwards in SH ice time) for their teams last year:

ANA Saku Koivu
ANA David Steckel
BUF Jochen Hecht
CAL Steve Begin
CHI Michal Handzus
COL Chuck Kobasew
DAL Eric Nystrom
DET Daniel Cleary
EDM Jerred Smithson
EDM Lennart Petrell
FLA Stephen Weiss
MIN Matt Cullen
MTL Colby Armstrong
NJD Dainius Zubrus
NJD Patrick Elias
NYI Marty Reasoner
OTT Daniel Alfredsson
OTT Peter Regin
PHI Ruslan Fedotenko
PHI Adam Hall (counting CAR and TBL stats too)
PHX Boyd Gordon
PIT Craig Adams
PIT Matt Cooke
TOR Tyler Bozak
VAN Max Lapierre
WAS Matt Hendricks

My favorite memory of Lapierre is when he challenged Prucha to a fight, and when Prucha surprised him an accepted, Lapierre just held on.

The notion that Brad Marchand "stands up for himself" is actually literally laughable.

Probably the most gutless puke in the league.

Just because I'm bored. Here's a list of UFA defensemen who were regulars on their team's PP last season and their handedness.

CAR MA Bergeron (L)
DET Ian White (R)
EDM Ryan Whitney (L)
NJD Marek Zidlicky (R)
STL Jordan Leopold (L)
TOR Mike Kostka (R)

One million and one.

If Torres didn't get suspended as much as he did, he would get a lot more money.

alot more? He's got jam and some skill (about .4 ppg). Been in the league for a while; bounces around from team to team (7 in 9 years). What, all of a sudden, makes him so valuable? The fact that the Bruins are winning with players like him (although with more skill)?

It has nothing to do with the Bruins. Torres has been a great even-strength producer for a long time now.

Yep. If it wasn't for his suspensions I would have been totally on board with the Rangers signing him. He adds a serious physical presence and he has some good hockey skills on top of that. Effective player.

Says who?

Have you even watched a single game that either Fast or Lindberg played in?

He had 42 points in 55 games in the SEL this year, and won the SEL equivalent of the Conn Smythe.

Fast had 35 points in 47 games.

Both are very competent (especially Lindberg) defensively.

Saying these guys are ready before they've really had a chance to prove it isn't a good strategy going into the season. One of our biggest problems this year was that management assumed the Kreider was ready and he wasn't. These kids need to beat out vets or other kids for spots. They don't need to be assumed to be ready.

Dingaling.

The players haven't touched NHL ice yet. They need to prove they can stay on the NHL ice with the big boys.

I really want to bring Briere in here. If he stays healthy, you can lock him in for 15-20 goals and 25-30 assists. If management is serious about competing for a Cup, you need another proven playoff performer. Plus, he can play LW and fill a glaring hole in the lineup. You would also have to think playing for a French-Canadian in Vigneault or playing WITH a French-Canadian like BrassGod would help him quite a bit... they tend to be all fancy-shmancy with the puck, right? :sarcasm:

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Briere - Brassard - Callahan
Kreider - Lindberg/Miller - Zuccarello
Dorsett - Boyle - Powe/Asham
