Why is Stralman the 7th Dman?

Because while O'Brien doesn't even bring 1/10 of what Stralman does in terms of puck moving, is a much slower skater and worse defender, he has "grit", "sandpaper" and "toughness". :shakehead

I agree Stralman is better. It wasn't meant to be in specific order except for our top 3 are obviously Mcd G Staal.

My apologies, in that case. I thought you were one of those get tougher at all costs people.

Would you like that lineup? OBrien as a 7th? Or would Eminger be a better option? I would rather have someone with grit and toughness and be a decent hockey player rather than just having a tough guy. For example guys like Orpik, Boychuk, Regehr, etc..

People misunderstand my feelings about toughness and soft players. Obviously you can't have a whole team of tough players. I am not for that. Look at Boston, toughest team in the league. But they also have skill with Krejci, Seguin, Bergeron and more. But they also have half of their team if not more of guys that don't take s***. They play physical and they push back. That is what I like and that is what I want. I want more toughness in the bottom six instead of having Zuccarello on the 3rd line.

Whats the deal with guys like Matt Beleskey, Zack Smith, and Kyle Clifford? Any interest for the bottom 6?

I like Eminger as a 7th. He's a good soldier and does what's asked of him. I would love old-Orpik but he kinda sucks now. Hopefully McIlrath can be our Orpik.

I like toughness, but not at the expense of skill generally. I think getting toughness is overrated especially in players who won't play much. Young, hungry players generally bring that edge and if they are fast, I'd like them on our 4th line over goons. Trouble is, we seem to have a problem finding those players. And those top 6 players that have an edge are very, very rare.

Clifford would be amazing. Unfortunately, he'd cost an arm and a leg.

From what I have been reading Cory Sarich and Curtis Glencross are available. That would be a nice top 9 forward and bottom pairing dman. I would have more interest in Glencross especially if CGY keeps a little salary.

would Ranger fans be interested in a deal around: tweak as necessary:

7th overall + 2nd rounder + N. Schultz + Rajala for MDZ + Miller

Don't see the need for Schultz or the 2nd. Don't know much about Rajala. I don't think NYR brass will give up Miller, though. They seem entranced by him.

I could see a deal based around Del Zotto and the 7th or MDZ+Miller+ for Yakupov, but that's about it.

I am an advocate for change! My favorite parts of hockey is the Draft, Trade Deadline, and Free Agency. I love transactions that is why I put out so many lineups and have so many "pipe dreams".
