you attack clowe for playing with pavelski and couture. clarkson hasnt exactly played with scrubs over the past few years either. elias parise kovalchuk henrique zajac are all good players. i doubt clarkson hits 30 goals without them.

Clarkson put up solid puck possession numbers earlier in his career as well. And of course it only improved when he got attached with an elite player like Elias and an elite board worker like Zubrus. Clowe's just been an abomination without Couture or Pavelski on his line.

I haven't seen one name that will be a better value than Clowe. If he is not healthy and wants anything more than 3 year/3M, then I'll go find that value somewhere else.

You completely missed the point of my post. Clowe being the best option available doesn't make him a good option. If we give him 3 years and he can't stay healthy/produce, then we haven't solved our problem, only compounded it.

Ranger should try to become a puck possession team since we dont have the best finishers.. The best way to play defense? hold the puck in their end.

Depends on the circumstances, but I'm leaning towards Clarkson. Would change if Callahan returns to 10-11 form.

he was better in 2011/2012 (29 goals, 54 points) and over a full season this year, he would have been on that track again. For people mentioning we need offense (like myself) I dont have any idea how Callahan's 20+ goals the last 3 years (this year pro rated) keeps getting overlooked.

Or if Clarkson returns to 10-11 form...

If the Rangers sign Clarkson I'm gonna think long and hard about becoming a Canes fan.

No I didn't.

If you are not convinced he is the right solution, I am. And I stated why I am. So we'll just disagree on that.
In my mind, the question that lingers is his health, that's something the doctors will have to decide, not you or I.

only thing that bothers me about cally is that he is either ryan godahan or ryan "take the 'C' away from me" callahan. there is no in between, he is either the best or worst player on the ice.

Has any former devil succeeded on the Rangers? I know everyone is different, but Clarkson is also gonna get paid too.. no thank

I don't want Clowe back at any cost (injury issues, declining game, and I'd hate to give up a 2nd round pick especially since they don't have a 1st round pick).

As much as I wouldn't be THAT upset if Richards is kept (hope he rebounds and stays healthy), buying him out is the only logical thing to do; which means Sather will bring him back just to spite everyone. Sather can't retire soon enough for me. He would have been fired long ago if Dolan wasn't a celebrity groupie.

I've never seen Gorton be praised as the Messiah, just as a guy who helped build a very good Boston team and a guy who's not Glen Sather :dunno:

I want nothing to do with Clarkson. He has shoelace eating stupidity in his head.

Clarkson is an incredibly dumb hockey player. There is really no other way to spin it.

you say this constantly, but i fail to see how this is demonstrated to such agree that you're so adamant about this. I only watch him play against the NYR, and he's only ever crashing the net or scoring on us, or fighting one of our guys... he is what he is.

we need players like this. A healthy Clowe would be fine with me but that's not the case.

This is just completely false.

The doctors can clear him, but that doesn't mean he'll stay healthy or that he will return to his former production levels. You're willing to gamble that he will. I'm not. As you said, we'll just have to disagree on that.

He makes dumb plays all the time. He has very little hockey IQ. He scores most of his goals from in and around the front of the net. Not saying that isn't valuable, but most guys who play that way with no real feel for the game drop off a cliff production-wise then their physical skills start to deteriorate even slightly
