Hell yes to Clutterbuck.

Need to add team toughness in a form that can also score some goals. Guys like him are worth gold in the NHL.

If they want to make this team faster and harder to play against? Add Clutterbuck AND Nystrom.

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Hagelin-Brassard-Callahan
______-Lindberg/Miller-Dorsett/Clutterbuck
Nystrom-Boyle-Dorsett/Clutterbuck

A healthy Clowe would look great in that line-up.

Sign Clowe and bump Hagelin to the 3rd line.

Hagelin - Lindberg - Clutterbuck

Or we go with what we have and put Dorsett and Clutterbuck on the same line.

Dorse/Clutterbuck - Lindberg - Dorse/Clutterbuck

Exactly. Toughness and guys who can skate and hit all throughout the lineup

More underrating of DZ. Nice.

No disrespect to DZ, i am not trying to make it seem like he is nothing. I am just trying to say it will take more than DZ to pry Coyle from Minny, that is all. Hey DZ could bounce back and have a great season, but for now after last season unfortunately that is what people remember bc it is recent.

I would not have signed Streit for 800, 000 for one year. He looked done in the playoffs. Maybe he was hurt. If not, it will be funny to watch.

luckily fans only look at one season not GMs. remember there were discussions for del zotto bringing back ROR

My god, Del Zotto for Clutterbuck? Not only do we already have Dorsett; a very similar player to Clutterbuck, but Cal is likely wanting a pay raise if Minny are looking to deal him. And then signing Nyström on top of this for ~$1.8M? We would be paying five 3rd/4th line tweeners ~$8.95M, and that is if Clutterbuck would sign for ~$2.25M which may be too conservative. Are you aware there is a salary cap in this league?

Boston is famous for having a great 4th line, but they are only paying $4M for their three players. Nyström + Boyle + Dorsett/Clutterbuck would cost 5.13/5.75M, and I doubt that potential line would outperform Boston's line who has played together for at least three seasons now.

Splurging on "character" bottom-6:ers in free agency is the fastest way to get saddled with bad contracts. 4th liners should be on short (1-2 years), cheap contracts and be let go if they underperform or get too expensive. Sign someone who can score and bring something besides overrated traits such as toughness or size to the lineup.

Prust's value wasn't his toughness, it was his intensity and tenacity. Rupp was tough, but he was useless. Guys like Haley and Newbury seem to think they have to be tough to stick in the NHL, but this just makes them useless running around collecting penalties while missing defensive assignments. If they would play the type of game they do in the AHL they'd be a lot more useful.

Sign a guy like Clarke MacArthur, Mason Raymond, or Viktor Stålberg for ~2-3M on a short term deal instead who can play in the top-9 and let's just stick with the expensive tweeners we have in Pyatt, Boyle, and Dorsett.

EDIT: Hagelin for Clutterbuck! How would that improve our team in any way?

Clutterbuck, Dorsett and Nystrom are all more than capable as 3rd liners. Same goes for Boyle. You have to pay for that depth, especially when all mentioned are very good PKers and add toughness and grit.

Goligoski returned James Neal and Niskanen. PMDs are highly valued.

MDZ has averaged about .5 PPG over the last two seasons on a team that struggles to score, while being a plus player averaging more than 22 minutes of ice time per game over that same stretch.

Nystrom is NOT a 3rd liner. Maybe on a ****** team like Dallas he is.

There is no doubt in my mind that Del Zotto could turn it around and be a great offensive dman (40-50) points a year. He will do better in an offensive system. But now having John Moore does that make DZ expendable? It could, and if it does he should be moved for a top 6 left winger? Who is available?

It's called a slippery slope.
It starts with DZ can be traded for the right price because of the depth on the left side.
The value of that "right price" keeps dropping with time as more offers keep popping up, until we get to the present situation.

People do not realize that Hagelin is a puck possession monster, there is no way AV (or Sather for that matter) are trading him.

It just isn't worth it. The difference in level of impact between a "quality" bottom-6:er making ~2M and a decent one making ~1M is a hell of a lot less than the difference between that "quality" B6:er and a top-9 player making $3M.

I like Boyle, and he is probably worth his contract. Dorsett is probably going to be a good player as well, though I'm not happy about him spending more time in the penalty box than on the ice. But we already have a bunch of these guys, we don't need to add more! Everyone has been terribly disappointed with Pyatt, and he is pretty much the epitome of this kind of player. And Pyatt did actually perform at his usual level!

We are trying to go for the cup and our young guys are getting expensive, we can't be stuck paying Chuck Kobasew $2.33M.

With all the speculation about what happens, I doubt Sather does much. I would not be surprised if we saw this next year:

Kreider Brassard Nash
Hagelin Stepan Callahan
Clowe Richards Zuccarello
Pyatt Boyle Dorsett

McD Girardi
Staal DelZ
Moore Stralman
