What exactly is GVT? Is Dupuis better than Hossa?

Goals Versus Threshold, basically how a player affected his team's goal differential versus a fictive replacement level player (basically a generic AHL callup). This is weighted for ice time and situation, so if you are playing a lot on the PP you need to score a lot to achieve a decent GVT.

That Dupuis had a higher GVT than Hossa shows that he contributed more to his team's goal differential than Hossa, but that doesn't necessarily make him a better player. GVT is however IMO a good indicator of player value and a hell of a lot better than just looking at scored points.

i know his vaule is more to the Wild than an actually trade... Clutterbuck is a the type of pest NYR needs. ones to make the other team take the penalties guys like Crosby Neal etc.. pretty much what Marchand and Shaw does for the Bruins and Blackhawks

I'd certainly be looking to add Coyle or Dumba as part of the deal. Clutterbuck is a 3rd liner, so the package would have to include something very enticing. Just throwing it out there though.

Dumba just screams bust to me from his draft year and he had a disappointing season.

Not enough. Brodziak is nothing special. More of a cap dump at this point. It's been reported that they are trying to move Gilbert, who is even more of a cap dump.

I'd consider DZ for Clutterbuck, Gilbert and 1st/good prospect.

We buy out Richards and we can easily afford both players. Gilbert only has 1 year left at 4 mil.
