why wasn't he doing this kind of stuff this season? he used his size great on offense, but why no hitting like this?
He did it a few times, but that's not his game. It's why you won't find much of it on the web. Last few years in Columbus he RARELY hit at all. No motivation, especially towards the tail ends of the seasons when they were eliminated from the playoffs. You can look at his hits number by season and see how they always tail off.

Do you hate small North American forwards, too? I'm trying to figure out if its size that bothers you or their nationality?

I dont like small, soft players, unless they are VERY skilled.. For example Marty St. Louis. I am a fan of big hard nosed players who can play the game, guys like Lucic, Foligno, Clowe, etc.. I am sorry if you are offended by me not liking small and soft players.

He was anything but "soft" though in Columbus early on (before he was tired of losing), its one of the reasons I really wanted us to trade for him. He could score goals, he was tough as hell, and he was always noticeable.. It was his only first season in NY this year and it was almost a ppg which is incredible, but I would like to see more of this guy.

You just said you wanted Fasth out.

Yes I did, and after that I said idk why I added him it was more about MZA. It was my mistake, just on went on a tangent. I will have to wait a few more months until my officialy verdict comes in.

It takes a player new to the NHL/NA rinks and game pace more than just a few months to really maximize play/output.

Those big nard nosed player who can play are really, really rare. And Zuccarello is very skilled, not sure what you mean.

And if you don't like small players in general, just say it. Why throw in the Euro comment?

I also would prefer if all our players were 6'4 225. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way and I'm not going to turn my nose up at one of our best possession players because he's small.

Could he be an option at 3c?

No, because NHL.com sucks with position. I wouldn't suggest paying attention to what they have players listed as. They have Tlusty listed as a center, ffs.

Brunner is a right winger. He's 27 and recently came over from the Swiss league. He had a solid year for the Wings, played some top-6 time, but was part of a very good "kid line" (Nyquist-Andersson-Brunner) in the playoffs.

He's got the tools of a goal scorer. Wicked shot/quick release, right handed, decent skater that could improve. He's go to the net and bang in rebounds, he would be a lot more productive if he did it consistently — remember, though, even at 27, he's still an NHL rookie, and he performed admirably for most of the regular season and playoffs. He's a relatively smart player, too, being coach by Babcock. With more experience, I think he could turn into a consistent 25-30 goal scorer, with the potential for a breakout year on a lethal PP.

I would look into him if he reached UFA — I doubt he will, though.

i dont understand why he doesn't do this on a regular basis. i hate players that play a certain way whenever they feel like it... stay consistent.

Nash is soft

yea.. and i dont get why the expects consider him a power forward. most power forwards have some grit to their game and fight from time to time.. he doesnt have any type of mean streak or show any emotion in his game...

There's two types of "power forwards". Those who play like grinders but still score a lot and those who use their size and strength to score. Nash is of the latter variety.

ok but he seems like that Chris Drury personality.. so boring and no emotion. most star players show emotion. he rarely does :help:

Chris Drury didn't show emotion on the ice?

lirl. stop, dude.

in interviews and to the media.. seems to have no personality at all.. on the ice Drury always hustled and shown some emotion but age caught up with him. Drury hustles more than Nash does at times so far... sadly Drury broke down quickly..

If I was part of the brain trust of the Rangers, I try to bring in some players who play with passion and energy on a nightly basis. Those are the guys who help some of the skilled guys get some energy on nights they are a bit off.

Nystrom. McLeod via trade.

Next, what is the teams identity? Hard to play against and in your face? Clowe? Speed and size on the wings? Raymond? Stalberg?

If they can add some toughness to the bottom 6 I would be much more comfortable walking away from Clowe. However, having Dorsett and Asham (who I don't believe should play every night) as the NLT willing combatants is dreadful for a team that led the league in fighting majors a year ago. That really shows how much turnover there was.

What's available for MDZ? Pajaarvi +? Burmistrov +? Eriksson? There will be teams interested.

They need more energy and they need different ways to create that energy.

How about Del Zotto and Thomas for Roman Polak, Joel Edmundson and Ryan Reeves or Cody Beach.

what is baffling to me is how so many teams have nasty guys in their organization from top to bottom and we have almost nothing of the sort in our system.

McIlrath and Edmundson played together in Moose Jaw...they would make a nasty 3 rd pair. Polak is a solid dman and Reeves or Beach would address size on our 4th line.
