Not sayin no on MPS just to be contrary, but if we want to undertake an interesting project former first Beach from Chicago would be much cheaper, and he has a roughly similar physical skillset.
They're not really that similar, bern. And the point was to find a piece that come back with the 7th overall for MDZ.

Kyle Beach is a very wild and inconsistent player down in the AHL according to Hawks bloggers/fans. Stay far away from this headcase.

The Dallas Stars have acquired the rights to D Sergei Gonchar from the Ottawa Senators for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2013.

Good news for Stars if they can get him signed. Best dman in FA.

If he is literally pennies on the dollar, and waking up to realize he's gotta get it together or never make the NHL, then there are worse 'filler' acquisitions we can make, hoping a guy with that much size and to a lesser extent speed wakes up and cuts it.

Bern it's a gamble but yeah. If the guy has the tools but can't put them together, it's gonna be hard. It's like a muck in a swamp that you can't get out of sometimes.

I'd think if something like this gets done it's on the cheap, and then we just hope the guy gets it together. How old's this guy?

Not sure if Gonch can play solid D anymore. I know Streit is more of a liability there now. I'd still LOVE to have Streit on this team but the fact that he wants more money than he's worth right now is garbage.

Haley is the best one of those we have right now. That's how I feel. Showed he can play w/ the big boys this year, shame he wasn't used more

Tell me how they're going to do that with the salary cap —*unless you're ready to make wholesale changes. They're locked into this roster for a the foreseeable future it seems.

Well I didn't ment a complete rebuild or anything like that, I like the foundation we got here and definitely something to keep build on going forward. No more big trades please.

Buy out Brad, in with Lindberg as 3C, I must admit he's grown on me lately wasn't very high on him earlier. Stepan, Brassard Lindberg, Boyle (Miller) is a very solid center corps with a lot of upside. Stepan and Lindberg are two very smart young players while Brassard maybe isn't but he possess some incredible pucks skills, all good playmakers.

Need to take advantage that we can ice three possession lines, we need to find a solid LW though, trade MDZ makes most sense, I wouldn't rule out Staal as trade bait either if a great deal can be made, however I would only trade him if a great winger and a solid defenseman came to NY. Imagine if Sather can find a Goglioski kind of trade with someone, would do wonder for this team.

How to fix the fourth line Idk, FA? Keep it? Hope not.

Hags-Step-Nash
Vanek(just a example)-Brassard-Callhan
Kreider-Lindberg-Zuc
Nystrom-Boyle-Dorsett

McD-Girardi
Staal-Strålman
Moore-RD

Is a pretty good team imo, deep up front and basically the same D where all pairings can skate and distribute the puck.

Edit: Also realize is probably the best thing to let Clowe walk away.

Agreed, I liked what I saw from him this year.

Was a 2 year contract or 1? Cause guys like Pyatt and Powe 9Powe to a lesser extent) are deadweight, see if the infusing of guys like Haley and Dorsett can take over. haley can move quickly and can throw it.

It was a 2 year contract. Next season is one-way salary.

Ranger fans are absolutely full of **** when they say they can tolerate a "rebuild".. I doubt ANYONE (stepan/mcdonagh included) want to go through a rebuild, and Hank would surely be gone. fans would be jumping off clips in mass unison if the Rangers went through a rebuid.

I don't know why anyone is talking seriously about a rebuild--the people running this team are not going to do that under any circumstances (barring the team charter crashing).

Sather has been GM/President for 13 years. His goal is to retire when he has another Stanley Cup ring on his finger. Period, end of story. Any talk about rebuilding is simply a way to waste time over the summer--fun, maybe but not reality.

Brad Richards being bought out is very necessary.
Re-sign Stepan Hags McD
Re-sign Clowe and Eminger
Sign Nystrom or Hendricks
Trade Pyatt+ for McLeod and 5th
Trade MDZ, StCroix, pick for Eberle
Trade Powe, Boyle for McBain

Hagelin Stepan Nash
Kreider Brassard Eberle
Clowe Miller/OL Cally
McLeod Nys/Hen Dorsett

MCD Staal
Girardi McBain
Moore Stralman
Eminger

Just a thought, could take more to get McBain, I think deal for Eberle is smart for both teams. Capgeek.com shows we would still have about 1.5-2.5 mil in cap space! Gritty bottom six plus a stellar third line with Clowe and Callahan.. Solid offensive top 6, may depend on Kreider, And solid defense with an added RHD man.
Let me know what ya guys think!

I'm kind of banking on the fact that Clowe wants to stay here and he hinted he'll take a paycut. We need physicality in that top 6 and please no Horton. I'd LOVE him but he's got to be an absolute last resort guy, he's one head shot away from his career ending. And I hope Slats' has some ace up his sleeve with McD because I expect offer sheets to pour in for him, I can see a 7 year $50 mill offer sheet in Paul Holmgren's future, lol.

Did you notice how many games Clowe missed for the Rangers down the stretch. He's a power forward who is breaking down. There must be a younger option we can trade for.

Sorry, Boyle was along with Powe for McBain. I agree Eberle makes alot but I think he will be worth it. Obviously there is no way to find out if he is or not until we see him play but from what I have seen so far he is a helluva player!

I'm all for trading for Eberle, but its going to cost more than Del Zotto + a minor prospect and a pick.

It works in our favor that they want to get rid of salary and add a DMAN. But I do agree, DelZ, Fast, Bourque, and a 3rd this yr and 4th next?

if we move Del Zotto (2.5) for Eberle (6M), we're basically getting Eberle (at least for next year) at a steal of a price for what he put up last season (34 goals, 76 points). Though it might be hard moving forward to keep him and our others we need to sign.
