If Cody Beach is like his brother stay away. I'd like Reaves. Rather have someone like a Lucic or Marchand type... I wish Sather tried for Steve Ott last year.. I'd love Kyle Clifford Colin Fraser type from the Kings.
How about Del Zotto and Thomas for Roman Polak, Joel Edmundson and Ryan Reeves or Cody Beach.
what is baffling to me is how so many teams have nasty guys in their organization from top to bottom and we have almost nothing of the sort in our system.
McIlrath and Edmundson played together in Moose Jaw...they would make a nasty 3 rd pair. Polak is a solid dman and Reeves or Beach would address size on our 4th line.
That would be a horrendous trade for the Rangers. Horrendous.
Jim Nill gave Sergei Gonchar $10M over 2 years.
Man, I thought Nill was going to be an excellent GM...if this is a sign of things to come...maybe we can do Del Zotto and Thomas for Jamie Oleksiak and Brett Ritchie.

Agreed we need more size, but who is saying we need a big grinder on every line?Is it just me or did the Bruins not "steamroll" anyone, they are big and hard to defend against. They are also tough and willing, but I'd be more inclined to say they shut the Pens down more so than physically dominated. It's not like the series was a blood bath.
Which makes the argument that we need to get tougher a little less relevant. We need to get bigger, and stronger sure, also like having a handful of guys that can throw them, but building a team with a big grinder on every line is a terrible idea.
Milan Lucic is one of a kind, every team would love to have him. Those guys don't grow on trees, if they have the combination of skill, toughness, and size they are usually drafted very high and retained by their teams.
What does that leave for options? Big guys who lack skill, or haven't put it together yet, or have some flaw. Filling your team with those players is a recipe for disaster.

Please tell me why.
The Bruins just steamrolled the team with the most talent in hockey...made them their *****es....you can sign all the Steits and Briere's you want and it will be 80 years until you win another cup...when Milian Lucic is coming at you with a full head of steam...everyone ***** themselves...we are a small team...we have the best goalie in hockey...without him we would be a lottery team...enough with the smallish skilled guys. Nash for as big as he is, is a finesse player. Every line should have a big grinder to free up space for the skilled guys.
Here.

We need guys who can bring energy in other forms. I don't agree with his trades, but I agree with the fact that they need to add some grit, energy and toughness.
McLeod and Nystrom would help. A full season of Dorsett will help.
Pyatt and Asham were not good signings. Both are 1 dimensional.
Powe is a good depth forward but he is also 1 dimensional.
Stars beat writer Mike Heika answered questions in a chat on Thursday. Here are some highlights.
What is the status with Nystrom, and how high do the Stars go? It seems that he could be a great leader for the future of the team.
I think he definitely wants to return, but you have to way whatever Eric gets with what players like Garbutt and Roussel are getting. If the Stars believe they can get by with cheaper alternatives, they might allow Nystrom to test free agency.

In the NY Post recently, Larry Brooks wrote that Capitals center Matt Hendricks has made an impression on the Rangers after playing him in back to back seven game series.
Brooks says that Hendricks is a “jagged-edge center who kills penalties and fits the Black and Blueshirt mold.”
He expects the Rangers to place a call into Hendricks if he becomes a free agent on July 5.
On Hendricks, Karl Alzner told the Washington Times,“it would suck to see a guy like that go. He’s the type of guy that every guy, every team wants to have.”
Jay Beagle said that Hendricks is the kind of guy who will take a puck in the face if it will help the team.
Jason Chimera told the Washington Post that Hendricks is the kind of guy that you can’t replace if you lose.
In the Washington Post, Katie Carrera spoke with Hendricks and his agent and reported that there is nothing going on in terms of a new contract.
Henricks will turn 32 in two weeks and while returning to the Capitals is his top choice, he isn’t afraid of becoming a free agent and signing a deal that can set up his family.
Carerra expects Hendricks to fall between the $1.6 million that Nate Thompson signed and the $2.5 million that Brandon Prust signed.
For example, EDM's No. 7 overall pick, as well as players, are available. While it's possible EDM drafts at 7, my guess is it gets dealt.
Also, PHI is in market for D and may be willing to move one of their young centres - B Schenn or Couturier - for the right deal.
“I think it’s a good thing to be a versatile player and play all over the place,” Schenn said. “Whether that’s at center, left wing or right wing. ... Getting the opportunity to play with Giroux and Hartnell, I’m looking forward to it and I’ll make the most of it. It’s an opportunity for me to play with one of the top players in the league (in Giroux) and Hartnell is coming off a great year. So I’ll just try to blend in, find chemistry as quickly as possible and hopefully step up in that role.”
As I said, nothing is carved in stone but the Gonchar trade yesterday, IMO, signalled the beginning of the busy season leading up to draft.
