Rangers won't be making any big roster moves. We already had two huge roster turnovers. The defense wasn't at all a strength in the playoffs. If anything we pick up 1-2 guys. I can even see Richards sticking around for one more year. I see Del Zotto or Staal in every proposal, but who fills those holes? When Staal was out our Defense was abysmal. Girardi played too much and got fatigued and played bad. Do we really want Anton Stralman as a consistent top 4 defenseman? Eminger is gone, Moore is still young and needs to strengthen up. I don't see the Rangers putting themselves in a position where they need to search for another defenseman. They finally have a good 6 unit. Do people really want Stu Bickel back as an everyday or even every other game option? Hell no. Stop with this Burmistrov/Paajarvi crap.

He already is, and played extremely well in his role.

i bet Rangers wont be making a big deal at the draft for a first or 2ed round pick.. when was the last time Sather made a big trade as Rangers GM at the draft??? :help:

Let's hope he doesn't, what does trading anything but picks for a 2nd get us? Only big trade I'd be ok with is for a top five pick. Which in the end is still a crap shoot. Staal is a good defenseman and a key to our backend. Is making a big trade involving him going to create another hole or will it solidify the forward lines while not hampering the back end?

A big trade just because they are exciting is a bad idea.

Really gotta question the Stralman haters, he was our best defenseman for stretches this season while the other D were still playing well, not like he was good and everyone else slumped. He's been a revelation here.

The model for winning the cup changes every year. One year it's puck possession, then it's dump and chase, then it's the trap. You can't win without an elite goalie, then goalies are just supplementary pieces. You need a franchise center, then Boston wins with 3 second tier centers. There's no method to the madness. Sometimes your best players aren't even your best players when it's crunch time.

The method is play better... it's not some chemistry project, just outplay the other guys.

Bergeron and Krejci are arguably 1As, Boston hasn't had a 30-40 goal sniper since Bill Guerin.

that wasn't a big trade.

he moved up a few spots.

Getting the #7 or #5 would be considered a big trade.

the last big Rangers trade at the draft i believe was those Pavel Brendl Jamie Lundmark trade... Lundmark at least played a couple of seasons in the NHL.. Lundmark is already 32 years old... :amazed:

Unfortunately, that's a big part of the culture in the Rangersphere along with high profile FA signings.

Not to sound too much like a broken record, but I'd love to see the Rangers go out and get a solid young talent. Any of Matthias, Coyle, Foligno are the players I would target. We need what any of these guys could bring very badly.

Del Zotto + Boyle to BUF
for
Ehrhoff, Foligno, 2nd
?

Tootoo is way overpaid, undisciplined and prone to injury no thanks. Wouldn't take him for free.

Tootoo is the player the Rangers should have signed last off-season to replace Prust. The guy is a missile. He hits. Fights. Stirs the pot. Much better player than Asham.

Over on the General board they are having a discussion about which goalie is going to be the one most hurt by making the pads a bit smaller. Near unanimously, according to them, it's Lundqvist that's going to get hurt the most.

Just..... wow. That's so sad. Like usual... EVERY Ranger is overrated no matter how great they are.

Nope, the answer couldn't possibly be one of these flash-in-the-pan types that have one or two good seasons. It a surefire Hall Of Famer.

Joke board.

1.9 million is slightly overpaid. I'd take him over Powe, Pyatt and Asham. What do they make collectively? 3.55.

Yeah, but they take up three roster spots. Tootoo takes up one. He had one fantastic year, but I wouldn't go so far as to call him a significantly better player than Asham. He also makes twice what Asham does.

He plays nothing like Prust. Prust is a good defensive player who doesn't stop hustling. Tootoo might have more individual talent, but he is a headcase and very inconsistent player. Which is why he didn't see the ice in the playoffs. He is not very good IMO.

Didn't Tootoo have substance abuse issues? Not sure the Rangers would want to go down that path after what happened with Boogaard.
