I wonder if the Jackets are planning on using a compliance buyout on Wizniewski. Guy has all the tools we need in a RHD. Can QB the PP, huge shot, and is ultra aggressive. He just can't kick the injury bug.

I would definitely take a flier on Wiz if he gets bought out. If he comes cheap enough.

Could be a good fit with a lowered contract and lowered expectations.

... you mean this guy

Barrie played 2nd pairing minutes in Colorado and was quite solid for a rookie. He doesn't have a big shot, but that's really not important. Your QB is the guy who is supposed to open up the lanes for shots and passes, and then set someone up to get a shot on net. A 95 mph shot into a defenders shin pads is utterly useless.

Stralman was fine as a 2nd pairing option this season, so until someone unseats him from that spot, we can keep him there. However, with Staal, we have the luxury of having an elite defender to take some of the burden off of a young player like Barrie.

Moore, Staal, Stralman and McDonagh can all rush the puck up the ice effectively. What we need is someone who can command the powerplay and turn mediocre chances into great ones.

Re: the bolded.

Unfortunately, Del Zotto isn't that guy. That's why it isn't a bad idea to trade him to fill other voids. Then we can look elsewhere for the PPQB. And I'd honestly like to see Moore get first unit PP time anyway.

I still like the idea of a Paajarvi, Petry, 2nd return package for Del Zotto. Could have a similar impact as the Gaborik trade had.

Trade board has it the Oilers might move Yakupov.

It's Garrioch, so it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but I've been saying he's the most likely candidate of the "big 4" to get moved. Edmonton has been pimping Hall, Eberle and RNH in their marketing for years now. Yakupov is the "new kid" in town and hasn't established himself at the same level yet.

Would like to get him, but I imagine the asking price will be steep. Are the Rangers willing to pony up to get a cost-controlled talent of Yakupov's caliber? I don't think MDZ alone will do it. I'd guarantee that MacT would want a top prospect included as well. JT Miller or Lindberg. NHL ready center with size.

we should've traded Prucha when Chicago wanted to send us Seabrook...

send dumbzotto packing...

This statement actually makes case to keep delZotto.
Seabrook was young and struggled from time to time. Young defensemen take longer to develop. There are guys in the minors or 1st year in NHL regraded as high end prospects who are the same age as Del Zotto.

I do have doubts that he'll ever be a dynamic offensive defnsemen who can run a PP, but he can and will be a top 4 D for many years to come.

I think that's a price worth paying. Organization would need to be determined who is more expendable, Lindberg or JT. I can't personally decide, especially since we haven't seen Lindberg play any AHL or NHL games yet.

that's not getting it done. DZ + Kreider maybe does

The oilers have enough offensive talent. JT brings size and good 2 way play, along with some nice skill. While Kreider may have more overall value, JT is a much more valuable piece to the oilers than Kreider, imo at least.

You have to be weary with a deal for a high-end prospect. You could be getting a future 40 goal, point-per-game player at a bargain, or you could be overpaying for a 60 point guy who never hit his potential. Gotta lean towards the former with Yak though. The guy hates to lose.

I think the Rangers give Kreider another year with a new coach before they put him on the trade block. I'd start with Del Zotto, Miller and Boyle or a future of some sort for Yakupov and Hartikainen and see if I could work something from there. I do like Miller, but I think Lindberg is going to be the better player. Gives the Oilers three pieces to fill out some holes in their lineup. Give us a much needed weapon up front and another gritty piece to fill out the bottom-six. Harti and Dorsett is 2/3rds of a great, in-your-face 4th line.

I would absolutely do what it takes to get Yakupov. DZ+Kreider+something would get us a great young talent, and really not take too much away from our roster.

Moore is already a better defenseman than MDZ, who has been coddled in our system and force fed power play time for much of his career here.

NYR haven't had a player why of 20 years old of Yakupov's caliber since Brian Leetch, and he wasn't even as highly touted at the time.

Can't imagine EDM even moving Yakupov this offseason. Maybe next year if they do nothing again, but don't see a reason for it unless it was a drastic overpayment.

That being said, as good as Yakupov might be, I don't see the point of including Kreider as a piece in that trade. MDZ is the most tradeable asset they have, moving Kreider in addition still opens another hole in the top 6.

I'd consider MDZ/Miller/fringe prospect, or MDZ/Thomas/Future 2nd or equivalent.

Not sure if that'd get it done, but no reason to gut the team completely.

Another right winger? Other teams swap their D for multiple pieces or one good piece but the Rangers always have to add to the deal. No thanks.

Thereason being the difference between the value of a 19 year old Yakupov and a 26 year old Bobby RYan is pretty substantial.

And we all know that true scoring left wingers in this league are pretty hard to find. In fact a lot of them are natural right wingers that got moved over.

if Yakupov is a real possibility I'd pounce on it. I'm kinda iffy about giving up Kreider or Lindberg, to me they're untouchables right now. I'd definitely do DZ+Blue Chip Prospect+ for him.

Come on. Come on, here.

You're yanking our chains, right? Neither of these players should even be in the realm of untouchable. That's pretty much saved for Henrik, McDonagh, and Stepan at this point.

huge fan, first post here... i think we have a need for a goal scorer and dz seems to be the guy to move, to me cally and hagelin are best on the third line and clowe is not worth another 2nd rd pick. we also should keep in mimnd our depth on d is not as good as everyone says as it hurt us the past 2 years. also need a 3c if miller or lindberg is not ready but id like to give them a shot. would like nystrom for the 4th line. i do not think dz gets us edm 1st but maybe we look at a trade like dz miller and next years 1st for bobby ryan and sheldon souray? would then need a 3c.

kreider stepan nash
zucc brassard ryan
hagelin callahan
nystrom boyle dorsett

mcd girardi
staal stralman
moore souray
Mclrath??
