Too much.
yo
I'm in a great mood, I just like posting here with my e-friends and commiserating in the agony of being a Habs fan.

I agree with you there. Not always easy. But it's the same for 29 other teams, we just take it to the next level, and we end up looking pathetic for it. And it's not what other people think of us. We could all be doing something more useful with our time than whining about Day 1 of free agency in early-July.

Trust me, we'll have plenty to talk about in October.

Again. Like the other whiners, offer some alternatives to the reality that has happened. We know the price for the "big names" like Clarkson and Vinny and Ryan.

So present a scenario with current assets and cap situation to construct a worthy team. You can't just sit in your basement and call MB and idiot over and over without showing realistic alternatives.
Stand pat and stop making stupid moves...

I'd have been okay with this. Not thrilled about it but at least we wouldn't have ****ed ourselves over.

Here
By the way, Jacques Martin on TVA sports loves our forward depth. Predicting top 4 finish in the conference. So you're all informed now.

It's early on, but you look like you're right. But it's the bad Gainey, not the good...

Still think you're totally wrong on Vinny though. I'm glad we dodged that bullet. Too bad we had to get hit with another one.
There was no good Gainey...

Completely disagree about giving Bergevin a bad grade yet. Let's wait till end of July at least.... He can't be done with this team.

Yup. Until I hear a realistic alternative presented, I agree.

Make believe land trades like Kristo + Beaulieu + 1st for Ryan is not realistic.

How about we wait until the team actually starts playing the games?

It's funny how you choose to believe the Hockey insiders and the media on a rumor of the term and money offered to lecavalier, but dismiss them at every other turn.
I hate rumour mongers like Dreger and Damien Cox and their ilk for being vague horoscope writers at best and also stupid old white men "analysts" like Mackenzie and Hodge for being shills for their respective organizations (NHL; Leafs).

Nice try though.

The complacent, arrogant Gainey who'd utter five-year plan and "il travail beacoup" and then sign scrubs like Laraque and Samsonov.

Some of you overrate Toronto. They lost a bit of their depth in their toughness obsession.

However Boston, Ottawa and Detroit are significantly better than us, so we will be fighting for the wild card spot on paper.

Not really. Almost all UFAs are gone. Emelin will likely be extended and Diaz I think will be traded.

Eller and Subban get big raises.

Right.. So that leaves us with Subban, Emelin, Tinordi, Drewiske, and Gorges on D. Sexy.

They still need to sign Gunnarson as well.... And Gardiner's EL ends next season.

Kessel and Phaneuf deal are off the books for next yr ; might trade one of both for cheaper options. They're gonna be fine.

Yes, but what I'm saying is the implication in both the question and the answer was referring to top6 forwards. Hendricks and Briere are completely different. And even if the question didn't have that implication, Hendricks isn't going to be our power forward so it's a moot point in my opinion

We spent more on a guy who brings nothing than a guy who would, at the very least, be harder to play against and WILL stick up for teammates. No one said he need be a power forward, we need a winger with size and jam for our peanut butter soft forwards. He fits the bill.

Seriously if you know what you know now, and are given 8 million and a time machine, you don't go back and swap Hendricks for briere?

Hendricks is not a super heavy but he takes the pressure off prust and to be fair we were not in on the majority of big players signings ( clarkson/cloe/horton).

Adding Hendricks fits into the longterm plan, adding shrimpy briere does not. We don't have to chase the cream of the ufa crop, but we still should address glaring deficiencies rather than trumpeting distraction deals like briere.

People say his pressers are as bad as houle's

Keep in mind we hardly ever saw a Gauthier press conference, and Gainey wasn't the medias friend either. Gauthier appeared for the media when? a day before the draft, canadiens golf tournament, and after the trade deadline?

Am i the only one having faith in Bergevin? This is not Houle or Gainey/Gauthier here. Marc got Briere for offensive depth purpose and now Parros. 2 missing pieces. Yes there are some more things to get but he can't get all these things in one day.

We got bigger in the future with Mccarron, Crisp and co. and maybe the summer shopping's not done yet. Everybody's freaking out cause they took the day off to see a blockbuster...but nobody is seeing that we ARE a better team than last may.

Briere still has gas in the tank and is good on the PP and in the playoffs. He's a great mentor for guys like Chuckie,Gally and Lars. The youngsters that compose more than 50% of this team will all be better (Chuckie,Gally,Eller,Tinordi,Beaulieu etc.) and Parros will be there to help Prust avoiding injuries and let him play his REAL role on this team.

Yeah we need a crease clearing defenseman and another powerforward I know it. But there's no confirmation Marc is not aware of it and will not take care of this before october.

Have faith guys. Our future is brighter than most people think. Just be excited at our blue chips being a lot better. Compare them with 1 year ago and imagine the same growing for this upcoming year. We will be good. And Price can rebound in a big way with Waite as a mentor.

I seem to be the only one excited and proud to be a canadiens fan here.

I'd rather put my money out there to sign Scuderi and gamble on bringing back Dominic Moore than to sign Briere.
If I'm signing Briere, I make sure damn well that I have a team willing to take DD because I'm not embarrassing my franchise by watching him fall down on the ice every time he engages on the boards.

I already had a detailed post before. We have 3 needs. A scoring winger with size. A PK/Face-off specialist.. and an all situations D-man.

There were few on the market but we did not chase hard enough for any and chose to sign Briere instead. With no exit strategy on DD.

I can call MB an idiot. He extended DD and Bouillon. Anyone who is legally blind could see those two morons can't compete on a team destined to contend for the stanley cup.

He didn't even tempt Vinny when he was a better option and addressed more concerns on this team than Briere could dream of doing.

Finally, while it's only a 7th rounder, he could've claimed Asham for free.

And you know this how?

Also in another post you just suggested Moen would get PP time over Galch and Eller, and MAXPAC.

Stop being so negative. There's plenty to complain about, you don't need to make stuff up.

Because they've done it last year. They also continue to use Bouillon on the PP.. Gorges too, over Emelin. They have absolutely 0 idea of how to put the best suited players in a position to excel, they'd rather ride the coat-tails of their junior players.

Hahaha you're naive if you think habs fans will be that patient. I'm sure that Bergevin will do something before the end of july...heck maybe even before the end of the day...
