I dont get all the hatred here.
The rangers have nothing but 3rd and 4th liners in their lineup and prospect pool...with exception of Nash and a few other players. What we clearly need is scoring. You are not going to get scoring by taking Role players in round 3. You can also get role players by trade or as free agents. So clearly it makes sense to draft for skill, even if some risk is involved.
Rangers took 3 skilled players. In round 3 every player is somewhat of a risk. Only about 20-25% of 3rd round players even have an NHL career:

So if you are already taking a risk since you are in round 3, and you need skill, go for the most skilled players! Thats what we did.
Or do you guys want to go back to us drafting more Defensive dmen like McIlrath when we dont need them?
By the way, out of the 3 3rd round picks, Tambellini is the safest actually. He has family members who have had decent NHL careers. He has an NHL shot already. Skates well. The upside is there.
