2013 NHL Draft - Pick #65 - Adam Tambellini

Cool...a Jessiman comparison, which is very apropos, since Jessiman was a top 12 pick in the deepest first round in NHL history, while this kid is a 3rd rounder, as well as this kid is going to a quality collegiate program.

lol

Similar things where said of Jessmen. We all know how that turned out. I have to agree with you here. I don't think this kid will be an NHL player.

hold on , you know this how? you can see the future?

First off, his Dad did play in the NHL for a long time. His brother played a little in the NHL as well.

Second he is nothing like his Dad or brother, he has much higher upside. He is bigger than either of them. Unlike his brother, Steve is not a one-trick pony, he can score but is also a very good playmaker. He does not shy away from physical play...so not a big hitter but also won't hide. He has 2nd line upside. It will just take him time to fill out.

Well, he's a TOOTHPICK right now, man. He's going to go to a great strength-and-conditioning school. I can't really blame him for not using his height when I could break him in half. Let's revisit this after a couple of years building his body up. He may very well learn to use it once he can do it without getting killed, lol.

Could very well pan out that way.

It'd be nice for once to draft a Forward who already has the size and attitude to go with it.

Unless you're drafting high, those guys usually top out as 4th liners or have some other big red flags. Someone with size, nastiness, and some offensive skills usually get taken pretty quick

I am okay with them lacking a bit offensively if they can skate and disrupt on the forecheck.

BN, same as the rest of you, same as most NHL scouts and GM's has next to no clue which is fine. He's extrapolating and forming an opinion based on what he's seen. To criticize any1's opinion and projection when NHL teams routinely miss on over half their picks is just borderline stupidity if not outright stupidity. It's an opinion. He thinks the player wont make it and was a bad pick. You can disagree but why do I have to waste my time reading three pages of BN vs everyone. We get it he CAN develop. We also get it that he has huge flaws no d'uh. Please don't let the other threads be such a waste of time

Like SBOB said, forget the size, give me the attitude at least. Those guys are around in round 3. Overall, I want the pick to be the guy who can play a team game and also have one or two above average skills to their set. Again, in the 3rd round you're limited but the opportunities to get them are there.

And I'm not saying this was a horrible draft, I'm saying it's different from what I would have done, as usual :p:

Well the flip side is that this kid could develop, but with our luck not likely. This is why they have a draft. One things that gives me comfort is that Sather has been pretty good drafting the later rounds finding diamonds in the rough. We shall see.

I'm sure the family name played a part in the Rangers drafting him. To me breeding only matters in horses. Hockey players not so much.

Like that he's going to UND, my favorite college program. I was disappointed went Miller went to Plymouth. I hope the Rangers don't pressure him into going the CHL route. UND has a great program that prides itself on player development professionally and physically.

So what if it did?

If Dave Hakstol is high on him, then I have reason to believe he can be an NHL player. This guy's development resume is almos as extensive as Lindsey Lohan's rap sheet.

Tambellini was projected to go between the 2nd and 4th rounds. He went in the 3rd. Certain people make little things into big things. What's the big ****ing deal? A bunch of little girls. They like the player. He needs to fill out. North Dakota is on TV every weekend. It will be interesting to follow him along with the other three Rangers NCAA kids.
