Eh, Gilroy and Tommy Grant were NCAA guys. Cam Talbot was a decent signing. Going back, Thomas Pock, Greg Moore. I think we sign our fair share of college guys; we just don't sign the right ones.
That's what I meant, not signing the right ones. Sorry should've put more thought into the post.

I don't think the goalie situation is as bad as it has been. Talbot is looking good. Missaen has looked good as a rookie in the AHL. Stajcer has been hot and cold but when he is hot he is on fire. That's (3) goalies who are pretty good. Not sure where a goalie would play if they signed one.
Stajcer is hot and cold in the ECHL. I know he's a rookie, but IMO he should be stellar right now. Maybe I'm being too negative on him so early, but if he continues this in the future, I would cut ties immediately.

As for Missiaen, he is another rookie who just had a great weekend. But before that, he couldn't stop a beach ball. And those rebounds are unexceptable. Again I may be sounding a bit harsh on the rookie, but if that continues, sianara (hope he does start playing more of what he did this past weekend).

Talbot is good for an an AHL starter. I can only hope he can really fit the bill as Biron's replacement.

With these 3 as the only other goalies in the system, it would please me entirely if they got at least 1 good goalie prospect that actually has an NHL upside.

Edit: Congrats to Sustr even though I hate you for signing with TB. Now we can persue Schmidt ;)

It takes goalies A LOT longer to reach their potential. The fact that both Stajcer and Missaen are showing their potential in bursts is a good thing. You are expecting them to develop like forwards, that doesn't happen.

That's always been Stajcer's thing--hot and cold. He has never been consistent, even through his junior career. He does show NHL-level talent at times, but then he'll look like what he really is: an AHL/ECHL tweener. I don't really see much of a future for him here.

Sustr is a small town kid. He actually liked playing in Omaha because it reminded him of his town back home.

True. I still don't think Stajcer will be effective, like nyr2k2 said. Missiaen is showing it so I'll give him some slack.

Western Michigan is in serious trouble. So many upsets. Lower seeded teams upsetting higher seeds. DeKeyser could be available on Sunday night.

The Detroit Red Wings are rumored to be the favorite to acquire DeKeyser, but I'm told it is not a foregone conclusion he'll sign there.

Likely that process for DeKeyser will be similar to that of Justin Schultz this summer. DeKeyser is advised by Newport Sports. Same as JS.

Trevor Van Riemsdyk is a player who may get some NHL attention eventually, though probably not this offseason. Defensemen are being well scouted right now. George Hughes only got an AHL ATO despite leading NCAA dmen in scoring. They saw him and noticed he wasn't NHL ready yet.

well a lot of teams will be after him... not only based on name but defensive depth is a great thing to have.... wish NYR had that... hopefully next year with Noreau and Cerenesek if both are actually signed to pro contracts

Noreau will, but Ceresnak will probably not get signed.

So I was browsing through our rivals' boards, (lol at the Fishsticks) and saw a thread about Jaicim Eriksson on the Flyers board Goalie. Plays on Lindberg's team in the SEL. He has some amazing numbers, drafted in the 7th round by Philly. They didn't chose to sign him, and as I understand it, no team currently owns his rights. So, for people who watch the SEL, is this guy any good? Just wondering if this guy would be a viable pick up.

Looks like Rangers didn't make the final cut on teams Dekeyser is choosing from according to a link someone posted on the main board.

The Rangers were not considered one of the teams for DeKeyser. Katie Strang tweeted the Rangers thought they had a better chance to sign Sustr than DeKeyser. Sustr is on the TB active roster. The SPC counts this season. DeKeyser will probably play this season in the NHL.

With the number of LHD we have on the roster already, it was more or less inevitable that DeKeyser was going elsewhere. Look at the teams that are on his list. All need defenders, lefties in particular.

StL needs a young lefty to play with Pietrangelo in the near future. Detroit lost Quincy for a while and can promise him immediate time with the team. Nashville has a lot of very good RHD, but only one future piece on the left side in Josi. Edmonton hands spots to unproven kids as a rule so they can get more media attention. That place breeds losing but TSN swoons over them because they keep racking up #1 picks. They don't even feign an attempt at trying to build a winning team.

I posted something about him pages ago on this thread. I absolutely am shocked that no one has his rights and def think he'll be a great option. He's doing very well with Skelleftea, including the playoffs. I'd sign him.

If we were able to land a young star goaltender, it would probably be a swede wanting to learn under Henrik. Still, for now Biron is a capable backup. He'd have to fight with Talbot for AHL minutes.

So this Eriksson guy fits right into this description! I hope our scouts are aware of him. If they're watching Lindberg, then I'm sure they are.
