I would certainly add Sustr, but I don't necessarily feel the hype is 100% warranted.

DeKeyser is IMO a much better prospect.

Yep. If Sustr was 6'1", he wouldn't be nearly as hyped as he is. He's certainly an intriguing prospect, but I don't think he's a blue chip guy by any means.

People here see his height and think he has Zdeno Chara potential. He's more Mike Rozsival than anything. And that's great--but let's be realistic about what he is.

I'd like the Rangers to add both him and DeKeyser but that's probably not realistic.

I think Sustr is a good kid with solid potential, but people look at his size and think "Chara" when in reality his game is much closer to Marek Malik. I know that'll raise red flags for many people, but it's not a slight against him. He's just a big guy who relies more on a big wingspan and stick work than he does his body. The real intriguing part of Sustr is his hands and passing ability.

Still hope Nate Schmidt is a target if he leaves Minnesota.

The scouting reports on Sustr (have only seen him play twice- so I could be off base) remind me of a bigger version of Malik- who was not a bad defenseman despite the unnecessary amount of flak Ranger gave him, but he would be torn to shreds here. We as fans tend to hate large guys who don't use their body like they should.

See: Malik, Boyle, Kreider.etc

Skjei takes so much crap from Minnesota fans but Schmidt has been his partner for most of the season. Schmidt is in position to sign a nice free agent deal next month. Hagelson is graduating. Alt is expected to turn pro. His rights were traded by Carolina to Philly. Alt went to McDonagh's high school. So Minny will have Skjei,Reilly and Marshall. Parenteau and Holl have played forward this season but they can play on D Too many D. Minny has a recruit named Brodzinski coming in for next season. That team should be a very high seed for the tournament which begins March 29.

He sounds like Malik with a bit more athleticism. May as well not bother... If he has any confidence, it will be shattered by a Pejorative Slured MSG crowd.

Sustr will sign a 2 year ELC. $925,000 was the MAX at the conclusion of the 2005 CBA. $185,000 signing bonus. Sustr's advisor/agent will probably demand his client be put on the active roster/play in the NHL this season to start the clock on the ELC.
I bet a number of teams are willing to do that.

Schmidt
Sustr
Dekeyser

That's my order for Dmen.

My guess:

Schmidt signs with Tampa Bay
Sustr signs with Pittsburgh
Dekeyser signs with Detroit

i dont think it has to do with Kreider's size that he doesnt use that upsets people, its that he doesnt move his feet and floats a bit.. alot like Gaborik...

you forgot to mention : Poti, Popovic, K.Hatcher, Malakhov to those size guys that never use it

As I have pointed out before, NYR have done a poor job of scouting the ECAC. Two great goaltenders (Hartzell, Grosenick) could be signed from there this year, but all I ever see at the games are Toronto and Dallas scouts.

The Rangers tried to sign the goalie from Northern Michigan. He agreed to terms with the Red Wings yesterday.

I'd take Erik Hartzell, Stephon Williams, Juho Olkinuora, & maybe Troy Grosenick over Coreau. He's got great size but I think these others have the skills.

Yeah Coreau was in prospect camp with us last year. He's a good prospect.

I hope we get Grosenick this year, but I doubt it.

Our FO gave a contract to Jason Missiaen. One of the times i've truly been angry about a signing. I've given up hoping they evaluate goaltenders properly.

I wonder if the FA goalies have stayed away from us like they've stayed away from NJ all these years.

Miss has actually been really good since early January. I can't imagine him ever amounting to anything at the NHL level, but he's a good organizational guy and may have a future as a mediocre backup down the road.

I figure guys like Missiaen are the only ones that will sign here, at least for another season two. Until Lundqvist gets old/shows a decline, why would any goaltender want to come to MSG?

EDIT: I wanted Kinkaid two years ago. The Debbies got him, and he's actually been pretty mediocre even at the AHL level. I was wrong on him.

Here is the link

The Griffins are the AHL affiliate of the Red Wings. According to the source inside the NMU hockey program, the 6-foot-4, 208-pound Coreau could start his pro career in Detroit before joining the Griffins at a later date.

Coreau, 21, attended rookie camps in Edmonton and Calgary after his sophomore year. After his freshmen year, he attended rookie camps put on by the New York Rangers and San Jose Sharks.

In addition to the Oilers, Flames, Rangers and Sharks, the Perth, Ontario native was being pursued by the Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks.

Looks like the Wings are going to start the clock on the ELC this season.
