Nebraska-Omaha is playing Minnesota State tonight in the WCHA tournament. If Nebraska-Omaha loses tonight, their season is over. Andrej Sustr could sign this week.

Boyle was actually a very productive player in the NCAA, a great deal of it coming from a position on the blue line.

This guy isn't half the prospect Boyle was, though he has more snarl in his game.

Yeah no doubt BB put up real good NCAA numbers , and real good AHL # 's and a fluke season here . Even last year with 26 points and solid D You could live with it . This year unfortunately he is also a victim of Richards and Gaborik sucking and this magnifying his lack of production .
Good luck to this kid hopefully then he ends up like BB and can carve out an NHL career .

Yeah, perhaps he can.

Call me nuts, but I still attest that Boyle could be an NHL defenseman. No one seems to want to try him out there, though.

Yeah I wonder if he can pivot skating backwards . He certainly knows how to get in the way of shots .

Sustr is free to sign. Nebraska-Omaha lost to Minnesota State last night. Michigan will face Miami on Saturday. Ohio State-Notre Dame is the other game. CCHA championship game is Sunday. Minnesota gets a first round bye in the WCHA Final 5. Minnesota will face the winner of Colorado College-North Dakota on Friday night. DeKeyser's college career could be over depending upon how many upsets occur during the tournaments. Western Michigan is #14 in the power rankings. 16 teams make it. Michigan wins the CCHA and they get an automatic bid. One less spot for Western Michigan. Detroit,Tampa Bay(Yzerman connection)and St.Louis(need a lefty)are the favorites for DeKeyser.

Sustr wants NHL minutes. He's said before that he doesn't see the point in leaving college unless he's ready to play in the NHL. His degree is important to him.

Wouldn't he get #6D minutes ahead of Eminger?
I watched one of his games, he can skate, he has the size, he can shoot it and he can pass it.

So can Brady Skjei, but he doesn't belong anywhere near the NHL right now. Every aspect of Sustr's game is very raw. I don't see him earning NHL minutes anywhere other than a bottom-feeder at this point.

McKenzie says Sustr will sign an NHL contract this offseason, in all likelihood.

You're right. He needs seasoning in the AHL. He is an intriguing prospect but is no ore NHL ready than McIlrath at this point. If we were to give him NHL time it would be as a 6th defenseman, and Tortorella might very well Bickel him frequently and hurt his confidence.

Eminger is not a bad defenseman.

He will sign with a team that promises him NHL minutes, he wants to burn a year off this year.

#NYR Upwards of 25 teams interested in hulking d-man Andrej Sustr, who is leaving Nebraska-Omaha to turn pro. Rangers one of those teams

He would be a great addition. From what I've read he's made strides in his game at UNO this season.

Hopefully he remembers it was the Rangers who gave him a shot at prospect camp a couple of years ago.

Imagine a bottom pairing of Sustr - McIlrath one day :amazed: There would be no space on the ice.

No specificity as to whether those are all NHL teams, though that could be inferred. If so, pretty much the whole league.

For as sought-after as Sustr has been, he also comes with a pretty high amount of risk as a prospect. Sustr has very alluring size at 6'8" but still has a lot of work to do to become an NHL-caliber skater, and for a player of his size, he's not all that physical. He does, however, have remarkably soft hands for a player of his size, and is an excellent passer.

Sustr will sign a 2 year ELC. $925,000 was the MAX at the conclusion of the 2005 CBA. $185,000 signing bonus. Sustr's advisor/agent will probably demand his client be put on the active roster/play in the NHL this season to start the clock on the ELC.

14. Entry Level System Maintenance of existing Entry Level System commitment (i.e., generally three (3) years). Players will be entitled to negotiate and receive Signing Bonus payments covering their participation in a “partial†first season of a multi-year ELS SPC.

The MOU didn't provide a breakdown the entry level MAX salaries for the 2013 CBA.

Sustr is the kind of signing the Rangers need to make especially with no first this year. Try to sign him and one of the top UFA college forwards.

All it costs is a contract. I say give him what he wants. The fact that he is a good passer and has soft hands for someone that size is amazing. I have faith in the Rangers staff to work on the other elements of his game.

You can't teach size.
