Right now I think:

Henrique-Zajac-Kovalchuk (scoring and good D; showed good chemistry when together)
Matteau-Elias-Clarkson (Elias and Clarkson have good chemistry, could really help with Matteau's development)
Ponikarovsky-Josefson-Butler (Josefson will have capable scorers, since he is a playmaker with the inability to finish)
Carter-Gionta-Bernier (self explanatory)

Not bad at all.

But in a night like tomorrow vs Philly where Barch has to be in there, go with this:

Poni-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Henrique-Elias-Clarkson
Barch-Josefson-Butler
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

At this point I had to wonder when he'd be gone. We've already had about 4 call ups including the Ponikarovsky trade in his time here. Anderson, Butler, Loktionov, and Poni.

That isn't bad at all, and will look better when we can sub Barch for Matteau. Pieces slowly falling into place. CBGB would be third though.

It will be interesting to see whether Matteau or Barch plays tomorrow.

I think Barch plays, but in a game against the Sens next week or Caps I don't see why it should be a prerequisite to play Barch.

I think if not for the Zubrus injury, Matteau probably was a week away from being sent back to junior. Now that a year is burned off anyway, there is no hurry in sending him back if at all.

I think there is still reason to send him back at some point contract-wise.

Isn't it like 7 seasons until a player hits UFA? But I don't think a season counts unless they play 50% of the games or something..

not sure

I think he'll spend some AHL team next season. I don't think he's permanently in the NHL right now by any means.

What I'm saying is technically he hasn't burnt through a RFA year yet. If he goes down before the 24 game mark, he still has to play 7 seasons before he can UFA. If he stays past that mark, he only needs to play 6 more seasons.

Not a big deal either way so don't expect Lou to care about that but worth noting.

Is that 24 games in the full 82 game season though?
