I think that's probably the case for Gomez too. His agent probably asked the team if he could start talking to other GMs and the Canadiens had no reason not to say yes at that point.

Redden's agent definitely got the go ahead from the team a few days ago when they were hoping a trade might be an option, before the buyout rules changed.

I think guys like Matteau, and two way guys need to be finalized by Friday at 3:00 PM EST. Darche doesn't have to be signed though or let go. He can keep practicing unsigned like Stralman did last year.

I don't think we've seen too many current Devils active in the Newark community like this, so it's definitely nice to see.
Apparently MacLean, Marshall and Chico are all on it, too.

Him taking an interest in a local non profit and Lou's comments that he (and Elias) knows what he means to the team... all that solidifies my opinion that there should be little to no drama locking him up.

Zubrus might be the only one left to worry about.

I believe so, too. I know there are still some worries and doubts around here, though.

With all the praise Lou & Conte heaped on Zubrus' style of play around the draft, I'm hoping their smart enough to get him roped in for another 2 years.

I really would like to see Zubrus back. He does the little things along the boards that are hard to replace. Hopefully he's good enough buddies with Elias and Zidlicky that he'll want to stay.
