It keeps getting better...

Dr. Michael Gross, who A-Rod sought for 2nd opinion on quad injury, was reprimanded by NJ Attorney General in Feb. 2013.

Gross, who started Active Center for Health & Wellness, cited for "failing to adequately ensure proper patient treatment..." (con't)

According to source, "(Gross) has caused MLB to now expand its investigation (of A-Rod) in regard to his relationship with this doctor."

Rodriguez off of the Yankees would be a huge anchor lifted from the franchise.

Going for Soriano is stupid. They're no where near contending this year, and they'll be trading futures for a 35 year old? Come on.

Mo is retiring. Jeter all of a sudden looks like he's held together by glue and scotch tape. Your #4 hitter has only one extra base hit this month. Your best pitcher is 40. CC has been underwhelming.

I would be completely on board with doing what the Red Sox did last year. Trade all big money contracts to a team willing to take on salary for futures. Kuroda? Gone. Ichiro? Gone. Teixeira? Gone.

If I'm Cano, I'd think long and hard about re-signing with the Yankees. I'm just not seeing through the rose colored glasses like some people are. This is going to be a rough 2-3 years upcoming. The Mets are on the upswing, the Yankees are trending down.

I don't think we afford to lose Cano, simply because losing Cano signals that it's time for a full rebuild which ownership will NEVER commit too, Cano or no Cano.

If we're not gonna rebuild anyway, I'd rather not rebuild with Cano.

CC has been underwhelming.

That's putting it very, very politely.

I don't even think the Mets would pull the BS the Yankees are trying to pull right now.

A-Rod says hes fine. The Yankees desperately need a bat. They won't let him play.

Its clear as day what is going on.

it was confirmed by a 3rd doctor that he does have a grade 1 quad injury

Cashman and company are making the yankee organization look like a clown show. This wouldn't have happened if George was still around; his desire to win far outweighed anything else. The Yankees need batS.

Soriano to yankees deal is 99% done according to the twitter world. Pulled from cubs lineup tonight.

soriano to Yankees 99 percent done. he agreed to waive his ntc. Offense could resemble one if we get Jeter and grandy back

WOW, if Buster Olney is to be believed, the Cubs will be picking up almost 25M of the 30M that Soriano is owed through the rest of his contract. Soriano at 5M is a steal, even if he only puts up 20-25 HR

Someone told me that if A-Rod doesn't play a game for the Yankees this season then insurance covers a significant portion of this year's salary. But if he plays a single game, the Yankees cover a significant portion. Any merit to this? It would explain why they appear to be doing everything in their power to keep him off the field right now.

Its amazing how the Yankees always seem to get these players with the other team picking up the contract.

Crease: I don't think theres a set thing with that. They would probably still have to prove their case and win it in court. But they are trying, thats for sure.

Nightengale adds*that Soriano is expected to be in the Yankees' lineup tonight. ESPN's Buster Olney reports*(via Twitter) that the Yankees will pay $6.8MM of the roughly $24.5MM remaining on Soriano's contract -- $1.8MM in 2013 and $5MM in 2014...

The Yankees are planning to field a team with $189M next season. Nearly $11M will be in benefits. That includes players on the 40 man roster who play in the majors. They will need room to operate the team. They will need many cheap players to contribute. Not going to be easy.

IMO, I believe the key to the Yankees next season is going to be CC returning to form, and Jeter and Teixiera being healthy, and obviously keeping Cano.

Yankees have alot of cheap players who can contribute (not stars) but contribute. guys like Gardner, Robertson, Claiborne, Kelley, Nunez, Almonte, etc.

Also, if Arod gets suspended for a signifcant portion or all of 2014, the goal just got alot easier.

It's been the other way around for years.

Sadly next years team will be quite similar, minus Granderson, Pettitte, Kuroda, Cano?, Hughes, Joba, Mo.

I think Kuroda will be back (if he doesn't want to go to Japan that is), Cano I can't see them losing (how many will come to the stadium?).. Joba is not a loss at all (see Kelley/Claiborne), Hughes/Pettitte's numbers (this season) can easily be replaced by Nova/Phelps/Pineda. Mo is a HUGE loss but it was expected at least. Granderson could also be a huge loss. If Kuroda is back I really like our pitching and it should be fairly cheap overall.

SP candidates - CC (lock), Kuroda (lock, if he returns), Nova, Pineda, Phelps?, Nuno looked good in his time up here.

RP - Phelps? Claiborne, Kelley, Robertson, Cabral, Betances has looked awesome since being made a reliever, other young arms. We are really stacked here.

use the money on the offense.

I'm not re-signing Cano if it takes more then 5 years. Sorry, you cannot continue to sign 30+ players to 7-10 year deals. With PED use disappearing, players don't last as long.

I do not want another Arod situation.

Ask the Angels do they regret that Pujols contract.

obviously I walk away at 7-10 years. I would pay him extra money per year for 6 years

We discussed the other day that not many people (Jeter, Manny? kinda) have lived up to a contract for 7 years or more.

The Yankees have depth at catcher. Stewart isn't a bad player. Romine will be a major catcher just on his defensive skills and if continues to add offense like he has recently,he becomes an asset. JR Murphy has hit in AA and AAA this season. Sanchez is in high A ball. He has been there since last July. He is still 20 years old. AA next season. Cervelli will be suspended for his link to PED. He was having good year until he got hurt. Murphy is an intriguing player. He could the starting catcher at some point in 2014. The Yankees could use their depth at catcher to fill other holes.

I agree, I would try Murphy out next year, his D has improved and has a pretty good bat. cant lock in a catcher unless we got someone young since that would block Sanchez

Getting Soriano is nice. Obviously I'm not expecting the 40-40 phenom, but it's great to have a familiar name in the lineup. The one we are fielding now is hilarious.

Mejia looks terrific. Lots of movement on his stuff. Very crisp. Reestablishing himself as another of the Mets' tremendous young arms.

Agreed, great to see Mejia with a really good start. The Nats are a terrible offensive team, but it's still reassuring that he's not a sunk investment. He's still only 23, too.
