If the Yanks dont sign Cano The Mets will herniate themselves to sign him.

I don't really know if that's true. They like Murphy, and other than first, the only other place Wilmer Flores can play is second. Obviously neither of those guys are of the caliber of Cano, but it's not their biggest position of need. They're also desperately in need of right-handed bats.

Everything I have read/heard indicates that the OF will be the place they look to spend the most money on. It makes sense--while Lagares is making a case to earn a spot next season with his awesome glove and evolving bat, who else do you have? Duda sucks, Byrd will probably be gone and is about 67, and then what? Ellsbury and Choo will be out there, and I'd imagine they'd be among the highest priorities.

If they strike out on their OF search, I could see them taking a look at Cano. Otherwise, doesn't seem like he'd be the one they go after. And it's hard to believe the Mets will give him something the Yankees won't.

Chris Davis has apparently fell off the face of the Earth. Lots of season left, but he's been cold.

Cashman was against the Soriano signing and mgmt went over his head again.. Its great that someone in the FO has brains, but it don't help if he's not listened to. I don't know why he puts up with this **** year in year out

He's not even hitting his weight this month, but he still has six dingers, right?

Yup. That's half of his production from last month. And his average has been on a pretty strong decline.

It was reported today that Cashman was also against bringing Ichiro back and wanted to sign Schierholtz (13hr .342obp) and Martin (great defense, can hit for power, and has a .350 obp). ichiro for 2 years was a Hal.and Levine move, and if they are making the moves, we r SCREWED

It wouldn't surprise if Cashman wants to sell but Levine/Hal aren't letting him.

The Yankees are quickly becoming dysfunctional. There is darkness coming.

It would not surprise me to see Jeter retire after next season

That wouldn't suprise me regardless. and I agree, management is once again dysfunctional and not on the same page at all.

Only Yankees fans will say a payroll of 189M is a "joke".

Come on. You had George who is unlike any owner in pro sports history.

You won't see that again.

189m should be more than enough for a competitive team. the problem is implementing it right now when the Yankees have so much money tied up in 3 players one of who is a sideshow circus and done

The most frustrating thing about the Yankees is you know management is going to blame the injuries for this season and things will continue to spiral out of control.

Even before anyone got hurt the only consistent .300 hitters left in the organization were Jeter and Cano and Jeter is 90 years old. I don't care how many homeruns are sitting on the DL, if you only have one guy in the middle of your order capable of hitting .250 you have major problems. It would be nice to have the occasional homerun from Teixeira and Granderson, sure, but they're still not great hitters. There's bigger problems with the lineup than injuries.
