Almonte is a nice prospect off to a great start, but the real deal? His best season in the minors he posted an .808 OPS. The book on him is inconsistency. Once pitchers get a book on him, he'll struggle.

Moving into next season, he has a chance to be a good pick. This year? I'd wager that in a week or two the luster will have worn off.

I've been high on him for years... just as I was Puig (I'm a Dodger fan).

Hitting in the middle of that lineup, he has a good shot at putting up some soli fantasy numbers, THIS year. Vernon Wells is done, and The Yankees know that.

Ok, "The Real Deal" may be a bit of a stretch, after 7 AB in the majors, but I'm VERY high on this kid.

His plate discipline is pretty impressive, early, also.

Almonte could be a very good player but he is inconsistent. His swing is perfect for YS though and he's got good plate discipline

Chien-Ming Wang with another solid start with the Blue Jays.

Cashman has explaining to do.

I was at the Blue Jays game and it was vintage Wang.

At the time the pitching was dealing Hughes included. It sad his decision to opt out. Wish he stayed but oh well

Almonte has always had a relatively high ceiling but inconsistency has always been a big issue for him. Hopefully something's clicked and he figures it out but I have serious doubts.

Wright mashing today with 4 XBHs. Harvey throws six shutout innings. Good feeling around this team right now, and Wheeler makes his 2nd start on Tuesday.

Syndergaard debuted in AA, too!

Syndergaard pitched six innings today and struck out seven batters while walking just one. He allowed two runs and five hits and left the game with a 6-2 lead over Erie.

Love old timers day at Yank stadium.

My childhood idol Bucky Dent was there today.

Joe Pepitone, always the best interview. My Uncle/Godfather was a big Baseball coach in NY back in the day, he discovered Joe Pep.

With his monstrous day today, David Wright has an OPS over .920 and he's essentially at 4 WAR.

Before the ASB.

It's great watching a future HoFer play the game.

I was just reminded in my birthday thraed about an old sim game I did for the board (using EHM and putting a number of us in the game and tracking progress).

Anyone want to do this with OOTP? I can probably track like 10 or 15 people through a career. Could be fun. Not sure how I will set it up with attributes, etc. but if anyone is interested, I would be willing to have some fun with that during my free time.

For example:

You'd give me your name, measurables, what position(s) you play, and your level of greed/intelligence/loyalty, etc. We will have to work out the stat levels and such. I will then add y'all into the draft and track performance over your careers without editing anything. Some will retire after the first season, some will be All-Stars, some will be journeymen.

So if anyone is interested, I'll get this started.

We'll do 5 people (6 including me) this first season (I'll try and do the seasons relatively quickly).

I have filled out my stats above as a batter to show you how to do it.

Since basketball and hockey are over, the only sport to pay attention to right now is baseball (Yankees). Ichiro hits a walk off the in the 9th in the first full game I watch this season. GG.

About time everyone knew he should just do the damn surgery

so now the only calvary left is Jeter and Granderson, what are the Yankees going to do with having no one to play any of the corner IF spots?

Pretty much followed the Jose Bautista timeline from last year when he hurt his wrist. Hurts wrists, rests/rehab, comes back, still hurts after a few games, and then needs the surgery.

I'd rather just let Overbay finish the year than make a trade. He's done very well when he's had consistent playing time.
