He'll listen to all offers and make a decision.

Set the Bar and let him know we are very interested, also he has lots in the tank and he would only be 38 when the contract is up, he can still put up some pretty good numbers and may in fact do very well here, with our good young talent, other available players that are centers.....

No, but IIRC under the new CBA Tampa could certainly "re-sign" Vinny if the Leafs had bought him out.

They'd essentially be buying that 3rd overall pick.


Tampa trades Vinny + 3rd to a team.

That team buys out Vinny.

Vinny re-signs with Tampa at a lower cost, but is compensated via the buyout.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: FYI while Lecavalier can't officially sign with any other team until July 5, he is free to talk to teams right away as a buyout UFA.

I agree with you but you and I are in the vast minority.(is that an oxymoron?)He isn't physical but most PMD's aren't. It's funny though how physical defencemen aren't called out as much for not being good skaters or puck movers.You need a blend of types of defencemen just as you need the right mix of forwards.It seems once the ball gets rolling on a theory that the anti(insert player's name) crowd grows.At least you know you have one ally in your assessment...lol

Not a chance. I'm hoping we've learned from our decades of regressing with moves like this. This is even more regressive in this salary cap era. The dollars would be fine but 5 years is way too much at his age IMO.
