hopefully it's not just Nonis using the media to garner interest and something BIG does go down!

With Phanuef and Gards on the block they must really feel Rielly is ready :)

I would love to see Rielly come in to camp and blow away expectations, but based on his performance with the Marlies, I don't think they're reserving a spot for him just yet.

Man I wish I was a fan of a team that would not even consider trading 1st round picks. But I can't help it, I am a Leaf fan and have been for too many years :D and I am doomed to waiting once again for the future to be traded for the now and waiting for our GM to congratulate himself for just making the playoffs. Is that enough?

Shouldn't Nonis make a move negatively effecting our future, before people start crying about it??

Not sure why you posted this??

IMO we are only about 3 good players away from being a SC contender

vinny - clarkson - letang go Nonis do whatever it takes

Moving away from trade talk...what does everyone think that Kadri will sign for? I'm seeing a 2-year deal worth right around $6 mill.

For a bridge contract that sounds about right. Leafs could always gamble with a JVR-type contract that might end up looking pretty good.

if we had..
Phaneuf Letang Gardiner and Ferrence..
hooo boy.

If we're getting Letang, Gardiner is probably going the other way unfortunately.

Still, Phaneuf, Letang, and Rielly going forward is very impressive. I think I might prefer Scuderi over Ference because I think Scuderi played with Letang in Pittsburgh.

Pass on Letang.

If the Leafs have one thing on the roster, and in the system it's offence from our D, why sell the farm and kill our cap to get Letang?

IMO Clarkson, Bolland, Clutterbuck type players will be pursued, to make the Leafs very irritating to play against, and we all know a No. 1 C is being heavily pursued.

i say we trade Franson and Bozaks rights and a 3rd to Chi for Bolland, bozak would fill the #2 hole for Handzus and Franson could take Rosivals spot. We're deep on offensive d-men and we're losing Bozak anyway. Also promise Lecavalier the world so he signs here, we NEED him.

Usually when a player plays for the Leafs I always want them to return and am sad when they leave. For whatever reason I don't feel that way about Bozak or Grabo and I hope neither return. I have no idea why. I wouldn't mind seeing Bozak back in a 3rd line roll, but not first.

I used to get attached to players and hope they would come back but watching the Quinn era Leafs crumble, leading to almost a decade of missing the playoffs because we were stuck with a bunch of guys who wouldn't accept trades, I was cured of that. I don't want Stajan back, Anaheim can keep Beauchemin, and I don't lose any sleep because Jiri Tlusty is no longer on the roster. I am at that point where there isn't a player they could trade that would bother me, and it's better that way.

We finally have half decent management, players want to play here again, and we've made the playoffs. If somebody has to go because Nonis can improve the team by moving them or letting them go UFA, I'm cool with that because I'm fairly confident it will make the team better. Grabovski played his ass off in the playoffs for us and I love him as a player, but if we can peddle him off for something good or buy him out to use the cap space on Lecavalier or Letang then so be it. I guess that's the modern NHL, bring it on.

It would be tough to pass on a player like Letang if he was available for the right price. I agree that the Leafs have continually tried to sell the farm on players and not allow players to develop.

You listed 3 guys that would be great to see in the blue and white. Add Boyd Gordon to that list of forwards and I'm sold on players upfront.

Unfortunately the right price also includes 7-7.5M+ in cap hit for a redundancy.

No to Bolland, I like the guy, put players like that should not be making that type of money. There is a reason good teams go through players like that almost every year.

Colborne is fine as our #3C unless someone comes cheap. Colborne played great in the playoffs.

My scouting eye tells me Bolland has more potential that he's lead to show in Chicago.

There is also a reason why he was one of 7 Hawks to have 2 rings.

If Chicago actually wants a Pomineville type package for Bolland, then I don't touch him.

But for the right price, I would be pushing for him.

A bottom six with Bolland, and McClement centering the 3rd and 4th lines would make the Leafs a very tough team to play against.

Ya but Grabo is better making 5.5 on the 3rd line? Bolland over Grabo any day.

I would be okay with that.

Although everyone hopes that Gardiner and Rielly will become those players, we KNOW what Letang can do.

Its really unusual for a player like this to become available.

What I think Nonis should do:

-Re up every UFA other than Bozak, O'Byrne, and Kostka.

-Sign Lecavalier 3-4 years 5-6M

-Sign Clarkson 3-4 years 4-5M

-Trade for Letang (Gardiner, Kulemin, 2014 1st round pick, 2014 3rd round pick)

-Trade Dion Phaneuf for a mid 1st round pick +

-Trade Grabovski somehow

-Trade for Clutterbuck somehow

JVR - Lecavalier - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Clarkson
Clutterbuck - McClement - MacArthur
Orr - Colborne - D'Amigo

Letang - Franson
Liles - Gunnarsson
Rielly - Fraser

Reimer
Bernier

Draft:

-Max Domi, Bo Horvat or Ristolainen with the Phaneuf pick.
-Kerby Reichel with the 21st pick
-Justin Bailey with the 51 pick

With a wink and nudge that we will trade you back to Tampa in a year or two.

If he wanted to go back to Tampa he would sign a one year deal. It's not like he needs the insurance, he's already got a $30M severance package.

The nhl.com piece suggests he's ready to move on and wants a long term deal.

I can appreciate that people put effort in to make these, but I'm just going to add some input and not try to trash it too much.

Would like to sign Lecavalier to that, but hearing that he doesn't want to sign in Canada? Unsure on that though. I would still push for him though.

I like the trade offer for Letang. Unsure on value because I think a lot of it is based on him signing the contract.

Clutterbuck and Clarkson are good signings.

Trading Dion isn't the right move for this franchise at the moment.

I like the lines up front, but the defence is just terrible. I don't know who you would play on the penalty kill or really just to play defence in general?

Breaking:

Brad May has heard from team mates that Vinny will NOT sign in Canada.

Not sure which teammate has told May this but I am hearing it pretty much one of two teams... And both are Canadian???

As for Minny, hearing lots of Cal talk, but Fletcher isn't gonna just give him away..

Chuck woods where are you? Is my guy even close at all here?

Dion is not going anywhere unless someone absolutely knocks Nonis' socks off.

One of Franson or Gardiner may be in play very seriously however...
