Realistic trades and moves keeping our core in place

Liles to EDM 2nd
Minny trade idea they need a #2C and top 4 D and cap relief
Gunnar/Franson + Colborne for Heatly & Coyle

After all the moves Minny made last off-season you really think they'd settle for Joe Colborne as their #2 C

I'd do Liles to anywhere for a 2nd or 3rd even in this draft. I don't see Minnesota giving up Coyle. Heatley has just 1 year left on his deal, so not likely.

Tom Gilbert is a more realistic relief target but the compensation would be well below Coyle - think their 2nd round pick or something.

Wasn't comparing players games... I was comparing ceilings of dominance in the league.

The NHL is all about speed on the back end the only issue i would have having Rielly, Gards and Letang are that they are all LHS. Wish 1 was a RHS...

Uh... Letang is a right-handed shot.

HB Update on Vinny:

On Lecavalier....

Word is his price is around 5M for 1 year.. so far I am hearing Dallas, Philly, Vancouver, NYR, and alot about the Blues in the last hour or so.

I'd up his price to $6M to get him, must be a 3 year deal though (nothing longer).

Defensively Keith probably has an edge but offensively Letang has outscored him the last couple seasons. Anyway, Letang is available, Keith is not.

The person I quoted said that Letang is better than Keith defensively, which to me is not (or to you either).

I watched the Blackhawks series. Keith led his defense to the 6 game win against Bruins. Letang led his team to being swept by Bruins.

Watch NBC broadcast to see little plays that Keith made.

Letang makes the same plays....and using a one-season sample of playoff success to determine defensive prowess is ridiculous.

Heatly is why your hearing the Clutterbuck chatter they have to lose contracts

Heatly is $ 7.5m for 1 year

Minny needs a top 4 d

Seems fair Heatly 7.5m + Coyle for Franson/Gunnar + prospect

Its Coyle we want bury Heatly and he is gone next season and we do not use a buyout on him as well

Except they do not need to give up their future #2C with upside just because they need some cap relief. Come on, get a grip man!

No way, that's incredible info :)

Rielly - Letang
Gardiner - Franson

:amazed: drool

Thats a dynamite top 4

Until we play Boston. It's a very small top-4 TBH, although it's an extremely mobile one. We'd benefit from speed and scoring from our blue line but would have difficulty playing big teams and clearing the front of our net. Our PK% will likely drop and while our GPG will increase the result of our offensive production we'll also incur increases to our GAPG.

Gardiner would go in a deal for Letang, so Gunnarsson would be the second pairing LD.

Only difference in the Top 4 would be Gardiner -> Letang, an improvement in every category you mentioned.

I have a feeling Vinny wants a one-year contract with a contender to try and win a Cup, then he re-signs with Tampa Bay for cheap and retires there.

"Rumors" around the NHL suggest that Nonis and Chia have been chatting quite a bit lately, with speculation that Peverly could be a topic of discussion.

He'd be a real nice addition to that 3rd line slot.

- Clutterbuck could still very much be a viable option to the Leafs if they wish to flex their financial muscle and look towards the issues of MIN. With Frattin moved, I thought it was dead in the water;

#NYR Also, during BOG mtg Sather and Leafs GM Dave Nonis stepped out together for pvt. convo. Could be nothing, but interesting nonetheless

considering the direct quotes from Vinnie stating he'd like a contract that brings him to retirement, take EK's opinion with a grain of salt.

I've given Pev some thought too, but he really mailed this season in. Not sure he was playing through injury but yah, he could be a solid #3C, as could Bolland, or Brandon Sutter, etc.

I've been saying for days a Clutterbuck + Gilbert deal makes sense.

We do not want Heatly he is a negative asset to acquire Coyle
Minny needs a top 4 D

We deal a top 4 D on a good contract plus eat $ 7.5m for a year for Coyle its a fair deal

Minny has Granlund a C as top prospect so he could replace Coyle

Coyle is the big #2C we need..

If he's target of discussion, CW you feel as though they are exploring trading Grabovski and letting Bozak walk?
