Val-d'Or with their second straight shutout, Graves finishes with an assist and a +2. He's been playing some great hockey lately.

EVERYBODY PANIC. Duclair got into a collision in the third period and seemed fine at first. However, he didn't play in OT or shoot in the SO

Eeeek.

He was playing very well through the two periods I watched. Got a primary PP assist.

Was a dumb play too... Shawinigan's defenceman violently checked Duclair into Shawi's netminder. The Remparts were already down 4 regular forwards (+ 3 depth forwards), so everyone is holding their breath.

Oh FFS. Really?

The good news is that he's young and hopefully resilient, but I'm not gonna lie... anxious for the next update.

Serge?

Not much new here, but Remparts head coach Philippe Boucher confirms that it "looks like" a concussion for Duclair.

Hopefully he'll be ok for the playoffs. Quebec has absolutely no luck with injuries this season. Duclair was one of the two forwards who didn't miss a game because of injury. :help:

Buchnevich wrapped his game up. He finished with two assists.

The Butcher is 5th in scoring on his team, both overall and per game. That's second line performance. Every other regular on the team is at least 5 years older.

Butcher is in the 50-55 range among LW in scoring in the KHL. In a 28 team league, that's second line performance.

He's by far the highest scoring teenager in the KHL with 17 points. The next kid has only 5 points. This puts things in perspective: very, very few teens are capable of playing in the KHL.

Even including 20-year-olds (the age when most quality North American prospects can play in the AHL), he's still the #1 scorer, both overall and per game. Only 2 other 20-year-olds (who are two years older than The Butcher) cracked 10 points in the KHL so far.

As impressive as it was watching Miller put up half a point per game in the AHL last year, he was a year older than The Butcher and the AHL is no longer as good as the KHL. Not saying that The Butcher is better than Miller, but again, it puts his performance in perspective.

What The Butcher is doing in the KHL is truly unique. (Not unique ever, but certainly unique for the Russian teenagers today.)

He's only 0.08 points per game behind his team's scoring leader and if he continues to develop, he should be a first liner in the KHL next season while still a teenager.

I don't get to watch him in the KHL, but his stats, size and WJC performance leads me to suspect he might be a much better prospect than he's given credit for.

Guys getting a concussion sucks but as long as it's basically a "one off" and he recovers well, and it doesn't become a pattern, he should be fine. It's realistically pretty much a given that every hockey player probably has a concussion or two by the time they reach that age, even if they don't really consider some of them concussions

Pretty much what I was about to say. It's absolutely awful but saying just because a player is affiliated with the Rangers means he's automatically more likely to get a concussion isn't logical. It's an epidemic around the league. Prospects like Ryan Murphy, Adam Erne all the way to solid players like David Perron and Matthew Lombardi to stars like Jonathan Toews and Sydney Crosby have had to deal with them.

It's a form of adversity that Duc is going to have to deal with if he wants to make it to the NHL. Does he now change his helmet to the M11? Does he slightly alter his style? Or is it a one off incident?

I'm pretty excited for Butch and Duc. Really hope that draft helps our franchise for a while. Both of these guys could've gone in the first round.

Skjei is on NBCSN right now playing against PSU.

Thanks for the heads up. DVRed it and just watched the last 50 minutes or so. LOVED Skjei's game. Skating was as good as I remembered it from the WJC - but his aggressiveness and physicality (he CRUSHED a couple of guys up against the boards) both appear to be increasing. I can totally see the comparisons to McDonagh.

McDonagh is not good enough alone. We need two of him... maybe 6.

Skjei was good. Hes not flashy but he covers a lot of ice and is a big kid. Makes safe passes but can skate with the puck if need be.

Personal article about Duclair.

Anthony Duclair: programmed for the NHL

His father Wendell was preparing him for a football career. Anthony Duclair, however, dreamed of going full speed on an icy surface. The son finally won. Since then, the father-son duo has combined their efforts to achieve the ultimate goal: a career in the NHL. On track to complete his best season with the Remparts, the 18 years old forward from Montreal is touching his dream.

Since last year’s NHL draft, Anthony Duclair’s dream of one day playing in the NHL finally has a name, logo and colors: those of Rangers.

June 30th had however started badly for the player because of a second junior season below expectations; he had slipped in the rankings. First identified as a first-round pick, he was selected in the third round (80th overall) by the Rangers. Sighs of relief.

"I would have liked to go earlier, at the same time I find myself in one of the original six teams in the league. I cannot be happier», he says.

At that moment, it was a victory for the Duclairs, who have come a long way, from Haiti! = Anthony’s paternal grandmother had left the Caribbean in 1973 to settle in Montreal, «in search of new opportunities." His children, including Wendell, born in Haiti, would follow later.

The eldest of the family, He quickly fell in love with hockey, but it was a sport too expensive for him. Instead, Wendell and his brother Farrell played soccer or football. In 1998, Farrell won the Grey Cup with the Calgary Stampeders. Since then, he has started his own private school focused on football, Everest Academy, in a suburb of Toronto.

Wendell eventually founded a family with his wife Dominique - they are now divorced - also of Haitian descent. Two boys were born, Anthony and Christopher, now aged respectively 18 and 11 years old. The second now follows in the footsteps of the first playing with the Lac-Saint-Louis Lions (Peewee AAA). There’s another sibling aged 1 year and a half, little Alexis who’s Wendell’s son with his second wife.

Two assists in 2:1 win for Severstal. They are currently in 10th place fighting for the last remaining play-off spot (#8th) in Western Conference, 4 points behind (in KHL 3 points for regulation win).

Buch followed up with a GWG in another 2:1 win for Severstal against the second best Eastern Conference team Baris however they lost the race for the last play-off spot in Western Conf.

The Butcher's stats are a little over 0.46 points per game. For an 18 year old in the world's second-best hockey league, I'd say that is tremendous.

He's the third-highest scoring 18 year old in the history of the KHL. Only 8 teenagers (including 19 year olds) scored more than The Butcher in the history of the KHL.

Incidentally, Tarasenko had slightly less points per game in the KHL as a 20 year old last season. Including 20-year-olds (the age when good North American prospects play in the AHL), only 27 players scored more than The Butcher in the history of the KHL.
