Ever since Team USA gave up that PP goal, they have been buzzing. Love to see that.

I only caught the 1st period but Brady looked great out there. His skating and defensive awareness/gap control are both excellent. McD-lite upside for sure. Saw him rip one wide from the point, it was an absolute laser. Starting to get really excited to see this kid in Ranger blue one day soon...

Great game for the USA. 5-1 over the Czechs.

My 3 Stars:
1. Jack Eichel
2. Stefan Matteau
3. Jon Gillies

HM: Steve Santini, Vicent Hinostroza

For the Czechs:
1. Dominik Simon
2. Pavel Zacha
3. Jan Kostalek

HM: Daniel Dolejs, Michal Plutnar

... As for McNaught, I found him on Facebook a while back and sent him a message. He said he was done with professional hockey. I guess the ankle injury/surgery destroyed his game.

Thanks again.
My memory was a post along these lines, but wondered why is he still on the website listed as Rangers' property?

You and EcBo say he's not playing, so that's the bottom line.
The listing is wrong.

... As for our particular McNaught--whether he's listed on the official Rangers page or not--he's no longer property of the Rangers and no longer playing as far as I know. Can't trade him Bern no matter how much you might want to.

While everyone has a price, I was in his corner and pulling for him.
Unfortunately, he's a bust, mostly due to that busted ankle :rant::cry:
Did not intend to immediately apply as trade fodder.

Skjei had a fantastic game today. Amazing skating, shut down D, etc. Just a flat out great game.

Good to hear. I had the game on at work today, but was only listening to it as I didn't want to get caught watching

Didn't hear Skjei's name much aside from one rush up the ice that the announcers loved. Thought that to be more of a good thing for a two-way defenseman (to not have his name called a lot)

Let's put it this way. Guys who actually know college hockey (not a moron like EJ Hradek) compared him to McDonagh. I see it, they see it. He's a good one. Let's not trade him for Scott Gomez, now.

Did he finally break out or something? I watched him last year and he was nothing special, really at all. I didn't watch him at all this year.

What did Hradek say?

Nothing. I was just saying someone a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than he is (the announcing team at the WJCs) said this. Not Hradek.

He has been fantastic all year and so far at the WJCs.

Skjei is a decent prospect, but very much of what we already have...

No vision or flair. Solid defensively.

McD has worked out extremely hard, and he has a lot of natural ability too. I think Skjei is a bit of a different type. Skjei's skating isn't as flashy as Hedican and guys like that. He is a well rounded D without much offensive ability. Yet at least. I would compare him with John Moore before McD at this point. Not saying that he can't become a good top 4 or something, he can still develop a ton of course.

Hedican was an underachiever. He had Niedermayers skill set and it just never materialized. Spent the bulk of his long career as a complimentary guy but somewhat effective.

Hedican was on the 92 team that almost medaled in Albertville. Skjei is a 1st round pick who needs to be groomed to run an offense and play 25 mins a game.

It's funny how people hated the pick because he was a defender but now it looks like a great pick in the wake of Staal, MDZ and Girardi sucking turds

Hedican could skate. Other than that, he was similar to Niedermayer in that he was male, but that is about it.

Thanks again.

Well, he's still technically Rangers property. I believe the site still lists Ilya Gorokhov as "In the system" as well, despite the fact that he's like 35 and has been playing in Russia for 15 years.

McNaught hasn't played professionally for a couple seasons now, so even if he was open to coming back, it wouldn't happen. And even then, he was a marginal CHL-level guy. Too bad, as before the injury the guy was a terror. I really thought he'd be our next enforcer.

In other news, sorry for not updating the first post. I've been on vacation for a couple weeks, and my laptop is out of order. Damn cat chewed through the power cord, LOL. I'll update it whenever the new cord arrives.

Skjei had several tough moments. Bad pinch, fell down behind the net as a player went around him, let a guy get through him on the wall near the blueline. But I only saw the 1st. Huge test for him on 31st.

I watched the game and I missed the part where Skjei was great. He wasn't tasked to do much of anything really. He played ok but if he wasn't a Rangers prospect I don't think anybody would have given him a second thought based on yesterday's game.

He also had some very good moments and his calm and skating ability are undeniable. But I do agree, he did a few rough moments. He will settle in. The Czechs had a few points in the game where they hemmed the Americans in the defensive zone. I don't believe Brady was on the ice for any of those moments. He easily skates the puck to safety or makes a smart pass when he gets it in the D zone.

He seems to be in between sometimes when a big hit presents itself and a couple of those moments led to a forward getting by him with the puck; nothing that lead to scoring chances but he could be more decisive in the neutral zone and along the boards at the blue line.
