Duclair becomes the first 40 goals scorer in the QMJHL this season.

3 goals, 1 assist, 9 shots on goal (8 dangerous) in a 6-2 win tonight.

40 goals and 31 assists in 45 games.

Another slow day I see... He's scoring almost a goal a game: 40 goals in 45 games. Too bad the rest of his team sucks and he alone is responsible for almost a quarter of the team's goals. He'd have a alot more assists if he played with better linemates.

Quebec missed lots of players due to NHL camps, injuries and WJC but they have one of the best offense in the league now.

Grigorenko 1st round 2012 BUF
Erne 2nd round 2013 TBL
Sorensen 2nd round 2013 ANA
Duclair 3rd round 2013 NYR
Archambault 4th round 2011 MTL
Herzog 5th round 2013 TOR

Duclair is more of a goal scorer than a playmaker.

Music to my ears. We have plenty of guys who can't score. Thanks for the updates.

Serge, I read on another board that Duclair appeared bigger than last season. The speculation is he may have grown another inch or so, can you confirm?

I don't know! He was still measured at 5'11 at the beginning of the season. Hockey Canada had him at 5'11 1/2 at the U18.

Here are the highlights of the game... or should I say Duclair highlights.

BTW, Anthony Brodeur was Gatineau's goalie last night.

Duclair is second in scoring in the Q. He trails only Mantha, though Mantha has played eight fewer games. Only two guys are close in total goals: Mantha and JF Plante, who is an undrafted 20-year-old. Drouin would be up there, too. He has an amazing 62 points in just 27 games. Duclair's having an awesome season.

any chance Jean-Francois Plante could be on the Rangers radar although another small center. Rangers can use more depth their especially for the Wolfpack next year.

This all sounds great but does this kid have a chance or will he be a middling 3rd liner who is barely noticeable?

or like st.croix who cant get out of the echl? he had some great years in junior also.

Nigel Dawes scored big in juniors.. where is he now :help: i like that he is doing well in juniors but until he scores in the pros, that dont mean much at all.

Duclair is bigger than Dawes, but in any case, the success or failure of one prospect doesn't have any bearing on the success or failure of another. Duclair has the tools. We'll have to wait and see if he has the toolbox.

so basically Fogarty is another player just like Blair Betts?? would that be a fair comparison???

I'm not going to predict who he is like or what kind of player he will become. All I'm saying is that not putting up numbers as a sophomore in college doesn't mean a lot. Sure, we'd all love to see him tearing it up offensively and become a top 6 player for us, but if he only becomes a good 4th liner, that has value too. Most 3rd round picks don't make the NHL.

Basically, just wait and see I guess. There's really no reason to worry about his development because he was a long shot to begin with.

Surprised it took this long for a Dawes comparison to come up. Dawes couldn't skate. Duclair can. He also isn't a perimeter player. He likes to model his game after Evander Kane and it shows. He goes to the dirty areas and will battle in front of the net. He's not a face puncher, but he's gritty. He's a legitimate scoring winger prospect.

Every year is another excuse for Foggy.

Not scoring a ton in the low-level BCHL? He is behind other players.

Not scoring last year? He's a freshman adjusting.

Not scoring this year? Still only a sophomore. Never mind that he is the same age as juniors and AHL rookies.

Time is running out for Foggy. It's put up or shut up. Needs to prove a lot from now on in college to get an NHL an contract.

82 points in 62 games while greatly improving on his defensive game in the BCHL are good stats.

He had 10 points in 41 games as a freshman getting limited minutes.

He has 6 points in 16 games currently. That puts him on pace for ~16 points in 41 games. Not a huge jump but he isn't regressing either.

People undervalue his defensive game.

OTOH, Nigel Dawes was a star for Canada in 3 WJC's, Duclair didn't even come close to making it when he was 19...

Duclair and Dawes aren't similar in any way other than race. Silly comparison.

Duclair is closer to Hagelin with better goal scoring ability but not as much speed.

Who's making excuses? At no point have I said that he will even be an NHLer. All I said was that not scoring a lot as a sophomore isn't that big of an indicator as to whether or not he will become an NHL player.

He was a 3rd round pick. 3rd round picks have a very low percentage of making it full time to the NHL. What were you expecting?
