OTOH, Nigel Dawes was a star for Canada in 3 WJC's, Duclair didn't even come close to making it when he was 19...

Again, what Dawes did has no bearing on what Duclair will do.

Surprised it took this long for a Dawes comparison to come up. Dawes couldn't skate. Duclair can. He also isn't a perimeter player. He likes to model his game after Evander Kane and it shows. He goes to the dirty areas and will battle in front of the net. He's not a face puncher, but he's gritty. He's a legitimate scoring winger prospect.

Yeah right, how does this kid's junior stats stack up against Tony McKegney's?

Notre Dame on tv tonight, think its NBCSN but not sure.

Nieves was at lw last night with Copp and Phil D G. Benson said it was to get him going.

I don't know, probably not. Guys like him are a dime a dozen.

I wish we got one or two of them for Hartford. The play there is so uninspiring, it is hard to finish watching the game a lot of the time.

That line had the GWG too.

Skjei and Gophers are going up against St Cloud in the North Star College Cup tourney starting tonight. That Huskies team has 3 really good players in Brodzinski, Dowd and Gravel, all late round LA Kings draft picks. Also of note will be FA goalie Ryan Faragher who took part in the Rangers prospect camp last Summer.

Hate watching Minny just a little when Fasching is out there, partly bc I cant shake the feeling Tambellini was a nepotism pick.

A third rounder has a 10% chance of making the NHL. If one of our 3 third rounders makes it, we should be very happy. Based on the play of the three picks, I think it's realistic that this happens.

Plenty of teams might feel they missed out on HF so its okay ;)

He was branded a big dummy who didn't have a good season last year. I certainly had alot of reservations about him. But there were also a dozen players or more that I would have picked over Tambellini.

Still does not make me cringe as much as trading our 2nd for Clowe and not being in place to draft Madison Bowey or JI Diaby, both look great this year :p:

So has Buchnevich ever commented on being drafted by the Rangers? Won't be reading into it if he hasn't. Just curious..,

Looks like Diaby was picked after both picks that went to SJ for Clowe. Two assets that would be great to have in the pipeline now.

I think they'll probably offer him a contract, but independent of the Del Zotto trade. I think he would have received one even if Del Zotto were still with the organization.

maybe this is they reason that they dealt Del Zotto. maybe they feel Andersson can come over next year... im hoping for it. im a fan of his

I understand Del Zotto struggled this year, but Andersson is in no way, shape or form remotely ready to take over for him. I have serious doubts about whether he's even a legitimate NHL prospect at this point. He's developing okay, but he's a second pair defenseman on basically an ECHL-level club.

Know who never played for canada at the world juniors? A lot of guys. But to pick a few favorites...

Milan Lucic
Kris Versteeg
Mason Raymond

Are just a couple. We all know why Dawes failed, it needs no explanation.

Lets also not pretend that Dawes was some enormous bust. He was a 5th round pick, scored at a 20 goal clip for awhile, and is now one of the top offensive players int eh 2nd best league in the world.

He was just barely not good enough for an NHL top 6 role. Duclair, as I understand it, has a game that could very feasibly fit in the bottom six ala Carl Hagelin.

Duclair is only 18 and he is eligible for the World Juniors for another year.

He is? That is good. Hope he get a shot.

As to the Dawes comparision, Dawes was real good when he was young. But he leveled off quite a lot in his development. But in the end Dawes was a good NHL talent by today's standards.

He grew up in the trap era. That did him in. He never got to transport the puck from his own end and up. Had he had that ability, he'd been playing in the NHL now. He was just too onedimensional for a small forward as is.

I don't know! He was still measured at 5'11 at the beginning of the season. Hockey Canada had him at 5'11 1/2 at the U18.

Here are the highlights of the game... or should I say Duclair highlights.

BTW, Anthony Brodeur was Gatineau's goalie last night.

Really impressive. Things that stood out: 1. how hard he works, 2. how well he uses his reach, 3. his willingness to go to the net to score goals. I'd seen him score a bunch on the rush using his speed, which is great, but this shows another dimension.

Now it's an entirely different animal to score like this in the Pros when the Dmen and forwards all have 20+ lbs on these kids. Can be a difficult transition. But he looks to have a great head for where to go, and has shown this season that he is motivated to better himself. Which is huge. Rooting for him.

And thanks for sharing.

The only thing better than seeing a prospect get a hat trick is seeing him do it to Broduer's son.

Thanks as always for your updates, Serge.

It's interesting you guys bring up Calle Andersson. I read a scout doing an interview somewhere that really thinks highly of him. As an offensive NHL defenseman.

I haven't seen him play outside of highlights, so I have no idea as to why he would base that on.

For those that have seen him, is he an A+ skater and puck handler?
