id rather kept Dubinsky and Anisimov instead of dealing for Nash... id rather have traded that for E.Kane when rumored to be available.

You think you can go out and just poach players. Just because some beat writer says E. Kane is available doesn't mean he is.

Nash was a great trade. The guy was on pace for 40 ****ing goals last year.

If people had half a brain, they wouldn't want our 40 goal scorer fighting.

Would you be whining if the Sedin twins were here and not fighting. Top players like that almost NEVER fight.

Columbus was rebuilding and Nash said he wanted out. E. Kane is a player you BUILD around.

Another completely un thought out post.

I wanted Ovechkin, heard he was availble. I wanted crosby, heard he was available

AV said he wanted to use Kreider as a net presence on the PP. After one preseason game that plan was scrapped. Then he wanted to use Boyle on the wing but never really did. Miller is better at center but he played left wing in 2 of the 3 preseason games. Last night,AV said he might/could move Richards or Brassard to the wing. Who is the 3rd center? Better not be Boyle. Miller. AV said he likes 2 scoring lines,a 2 way line and a line which goes after the opponent. Why is Richards here? Arniel said he wanted to use Nash in the slot on the PP. That didn't happen here.

With Kreider I think it's really simple, AV came here and got told that Kreider was the real deal. Kreider looks impressive in drills. Kreider plays a game and looks like crap. He plays another game, crap. And so forth.

What's AV going to do, play Kreider on the 1st PP unit? You do not want Kreider to have the puck. He was behind in College and has been coached by Torts and Gernander the last year.

Unless he can play on a top 2 line he should be in the AHL and find ways to contribute on the ice and get himself involved.

I actually think we've seen glimmers of him doing just that in the last couple of games. Definitely more so than in any of the regular season and most of the playoff games he played in last year. I came away from last night slightly more encouraged about him than I have been since the 2012 playoffs. (Not saying I'm AS encouraged as I was then, but I've been the opposite since the beginning of last season).

Something I keep thinking about. This far, Kreiders MO has been to look just OK when he first starts at a certain level. (Except for those 2012 playoffs, but that was pure adrenaline). It happened in BC and it happened in Hartford. Over time, he gets his head wrapped around the game at that level and he excels. It's just a process. In that sense, I really don't have an issue with being patient with him on the 3rd line.

i dont see people complaining when Ovechkin is fighting or Jamie Benn fighting or Iginla fighting when he was a 40 goal scorer....i love it when skilled players fight... but most Rangers fans love small soft skilled players :shakehead

no. we love it when our skilled players, you know, score goals. It's cool to see when a skill guy drops the gloves, but it's just unnecessary usually. It's usually against other skill players too. So nah, I'd rather take the goal than 5 PIMs.

so you didnt love this

i was hoping for Vinny LeCavlier as a UFA before signing with Flyers.. he would have added much needed size in the top 6.... and maybe he would have get Richards going :sarcasm:

Jamie Benn...2 fights in the last two seasons.

Ovechkin has a whopping....2 fights in his NHL career.

I love how you post examples from the Stanley cup finals. Brown hit, Iginla fight.

If you knew anything about hockey, you would know that the Stanley Cup Finals brings out another level in players.

Those aren't the norm for those players. It's the reason moments like that become legendary.

Mixed messages from the coaching staff.

One day Johan Hedberg is challenging Marty Biron for his job and two days later Hedberg is released from his PTO.

They say one thing and then don't do it.

Vigneault said he wanted to use Kreider in the same fashion Kesler was used. Was Kesler taken off the PP because of one bad preseason game? Vigneault brought it up.

Wasn't Kreider playing in front of the net on the power play last night, the one or two times we did manage to set it up?

Also, Hedberg did challenge Biron. Biron just won decisively.

I'll never understand the obsession some people have with fighting.

Why would you want your top player taking blows in the face? why why why why why

I thought kreider played very well ever since taking the 2 bad penalties in edmonton. Did he have a great preseason? No but i think he was also knocking off some rust like others were. I still think he can have a big year for us

I bet no one complained when Graves and Messier would fight back in the day...

No one complained when Bergeron didn't.

No one complained when Toews didn't.

It's more important to have your high end players....playing. Not sitting in the box for 5 minutes.

Comparing Adam Graves to Rick Nash is laughable at best.

Dubinsky and Anisimov weren't nearly as important to the success of the 11-12 season as people claim they are. And last time I checked Prust wasn't part of the deal. Could anyone imagine just how putrid this team's scoring would be last season if the Nash trade didn't happen when Richards and Gaborik didn't show up?

Graves fought a lot. Messier not so much. Graves fought a lot of Messier's battles to be honest. Mark was a dirty player. Sometimes that comes with being a superstar--see Ovechkin or Malkin. Messier could slew foot--Messier could spear--blindside hits to the head--take a run at him and you'd have to eat his stick first. Mark put a number of players in the hospital. The run in with Mike Modano was a beauty. A concussed Modano falling off the stretcher. The ambulance attendants dropping him on the floor. I believe it's on youtube. But whenever there was going to be trouble. Graves was always there in a flash. Not just for Messier but for Leetch too. There aren't too many guys like Adam Graves. Just about the best teammate you could hope to have.

Yeah you're right, Graves was a 50 goal scorer at least

You're understating it.

Both of them were flat out bad that season.
