You think you can go out and just poach players. Just because some beat writer says E. Kane is available doesn't mean he is.

Nash was a great trade. The guy was on pace for 40 ****ing goals last year.

If people had half a brain, they wouldn't want our 40 goal scorer fighting.

Would you be whining if the Sedin twins were here and not fighting. Top players like that almost NEVER fight.

Columbus was rebuilding and Nash said he wanted out. E. Kane is a player you BUILD around.

Another completely un thought out post.
Although I don't agree with your stance on Mashinter and the like, I completely agree with this post. I don't want Nash or any top players dropping the gloves. I want to see goals scored to win the game. Fighting is not completely out of the game and 4th line tough guys are necessary unless you're facing a team like Detroit. The Dorsetts and Ashams of the world are not enough.

Dubinsky may be one of the most overrated Rangers in recent memory.

He's a fine role player, but to not send him for a guy like Nash is absurd.

Definitely. He was pretty good for a while, but when he got that contract and then forgot how to score, he was almost useless. Miller will be similar to Dubi IMO. Hopefully he won't forgot how to score one day.

Another unfortunate side effect of Dubinsky forgetting how to score was an apparent complete inability to not be whining and crying like, constantly.

Luke Adam on waivers... doubt he gets claimed though. A little shocking.

Calling MDZ a QB is an insult to Mark Sanchez.

He should be featured on the PP, but I don't trust his accuracy. So much so that I'm currently trying to deal him in my keeper league.

Im thinking that by the end of this year John Moore will make DZ expendable.

is MDZ a big part of the team this year under Vigneault?

pp qb?

It seems as though they haven't settled on what dman will be logging big PP minutes. I would expect to see MDZ, Moore, McDonagh... but who will play on what unit is still totally undecided.

To answer in short, I don't think MDZ will be force-fed power play minutes exclusively over other d-men like he has in some previous seasons. I think 40 points would be a little optimistic.

I said this last season after Moore's second game with the Rangers, and got crazy flamed by this board. Moore is why I was pushing so heavily to deal MDZ for top-6 help in the off-season.

Although, the way our spare D's have played this preseason, having MDZ isn't too much of a bad thing, either. Perhaps when Allen is fully ready, then the Rangers brass can explore the market for DZ.

Graves fought a lot. Messier not so much. Graves fought a lot of Messier's battles to be honest. Mark was a dirty player. Sometimes that comes with being a superstar--see Ovechkin or Malkin. Messier could slew foot--Messier could spear--blindside hits to the head--take a run at him and you'd have to eat his stick first. Mark put a number of players in the hospital. The run in with Mike Modano was a beauty. A concussed Modano falling off the stretcher. The ambulance attendants dropping him on the floor. I believe it's on youtube. But whenever there was going to be trouble. Graves was always there in a flash. Not just for Messier but for Leetch too. There aren't too many guys like Adam Graves. Just about the best teammate you could hope to have.

True on Mess, he created his space in nasty ways and Graves would stick up for any teammmate, im pretty sure Messier handled his own blowback. I dont remembet a specific time when Graves bailed Mess out of a fight although it prob happened a couple of times.

The "shiny new toy syndrome" became so taboo on this board.

has yet to be seen. he's very streaky and goes through bad scoring droughts. wanna see how he does under AV. If he still isn't good this year I'm not sure he's in a Rangers uni next year.

Not so much bailing out but if anyone dared to touch Mess or Leetch, Graves was on the scene to take care of business. I remember Graves going after Mike Peluso probably in 91-92. Graves had talent and plenty of toughness. Stronger that most in the league including the much bigger ones.

The moment anyone even thought of messing with Messier Graves was on top of them. That's more what I meant. Messier didn't have to bother answering the bell all that much.

The particular game where Mark knocked out Modano with a hit that would have made Matt Cooke proud--pretty much the same kind of hit that ended Marc Savard's career--the Stars had been targeting Brian Leetch for abuse--I remember one of the guys was Gord Donnelly who was a bit of a goon--a very good fighter. Leetch was not a guy who started a lot of ****--it was mainly to see if they could intimidate him. Along came Mark to take their best player out of the lineup for a while--that's called sending a message. Nobody ****ed with Brian the rest of the night. Of course we used to have Joe Kocur too. Joe didn't win all his fights but he was capable of finishing careers if he landed one right. Everyone knew that. Lots of other fighters were very leery if not flat out afraid of him. The Rangers of the early and mid 90's--the team that won the Stanley Cup in '94 was a very talented team but also a really tough team--and when your team is winning--scoring lots of goals and kicking ass and taking names it's a hoot to watch--a very wonderful hockey experience.

As per McKenzie:

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Barring trade, LA likely to waive 1 of 2 vet D, Jeff Schultz/Keaton Ellerby. Deserving young'ns Tyler Toffoli/Linden Vey may have to go down

The Rangers need an upgrade at the 7-8 defenseman spot. Ellerby would be a good fit.

What kind of cap hit does Schultz carry? I would actually prefer him over Ellerby if cap hit wasn't a factor. Both are better than Johnson or Bickel.
