I think it will be Powe, Asham, Lindberg, Hrivik, Allen all down.

Fast-Richards-Nash
Pouliot-Brassard-MZA
Kreider-Miller-Boyle
Mashinter-Moore-Dorsett
Pyatt

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-MDZ
Moore-Stralman
Falk-Bickel (ew)

I think AV and his assistants will want to dress Mashinter every now and then in this division and Sather will be pushing for that. Sather doesn't like to get pushed around.

I'd be happy with that lineup considering that Hagelin, Stepan and Callahan are all missing from it. When they come back, there will be a good bit of depth and balance. Hard decisions will have to be made, which is great from a team-building perspective.

I think Powe is going down. He's the type of player you wouldn't mind having mid season doing some of the dirty work but I don't know if he's the type of player, also keeping in mind AV's preference, that you'd want to have starting in your line up over other guys that have enough professional experience and upsides to do something more than just Powe-ing around.

I think Asham stays though. As far as energy guys is concerned, one might say Asham didn't do this and didn't do that but how I see it is that he's probably one of the few guys on our team that can fight, hit, fore check, skate, shoot, and actually play some hockey. He's not consistent at all and doesn't have the defensive upside as a Boyle or Pyatt but if AV wants energy guys, I can see an Asham over Mashinter.

I wonder about Fasth's size though.

Not that I am hoping for anything bad to happen, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if a couple of the players I listed are hurt by the time they all come back.

well the G and D is set

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-MDZ
Moore-Stralman
Falk-Bickel (ew is right but he will never play......right?)

Allen will go down, he needs playing time

in no real order for forwards

Stepan( please sign )-Richards-Nash
Pouliot-Brassard-MZA
Kreider-Miller-Boyle
Pyatt-Moore-Dorsett
Mashinter-Powe-Asham,
Lindberg, Hrivik- Fast

have to think Powe and Asham still get waived. They may stay on the team if they clear but they will be waived

comes down to if Stepan doesn't sign then one of the 3 kids makes it, Lindberg, Fast or Hrvik

True. Can't rule that out. But when/if everyone is healthy at once, that's a lineup that I think can do some damage.

I am still worried that their PP will not be good enough to off-set the lack of toughness they have, but that is getting off on a tangent.

Yeah, that's a legitimate worry, but as far as "main problems" go, I could live with that over other, bigger ones.

Every team is going to have their flaws.

So bummed out...I think Haley could be a fan favorite player if given a nice chunk of games. We missed an Avery or Prust type spark plug last year, something to get the fans going again..MSG was way too quite last year and that does effect how the team plays. I know Haley wouldn't have gotten their mins...but we need his physicality. I guess they are really putting a lot of faith in Dorrset in that regards... :(

I see what you mean. When healthy I do think they are fine but i'm rather scared for the first month of the yr. lol

When healthy it should be

Hagelin, Stepan, Nash
Kreider or another kid, Richards, Callahan
Poulliott, Brassard, Zuccarello
Boyle, Moore, Dorsett
Pyatt cause they will keep him whether we like it or not

Powe and Asham in the minors or ideally on another team to clear space. Mashinter down.......Miller, Hrvik, Lindberg, Fast should be in the minors for minutes or one takes Kreiders spot

If Stepan signs, we need to demote another player. 5 forwards. I can see Hrivik, Mash, Lindberg, Fast, and Powe going. Moore is the better version of Powe for the same price. Allen should be the D going down for playing time purposes.

There are top 9 roles open now. Boyle, Pyatt, Asham, Moore, and Dorsett should be 4th liners/scratches. With Hags and Cally out, there is room. Nash, Step, Brass, Zuke, Richards, Kredier, Miller, Pouliot, and an extra slot open for a 4th liner at this time.

When Cally and Hags return, who goes to the 4th line? Pouliot is the obvious answer, but his chemistry with Brass amd Zuke is phenominal. Does Kreider or Miller go there? Do they demote one for playing time? Who goes?

These are great issues that have the can be debated until we are blue in the face. I am happy we can possibly have these. Also, Fast, Lindberg, and Kristo are close too. I suspect a lot of roster changes next seaaon with all the UFAs we have. May be another overhaul.

This is exactly as I see it playing out now. Disappointed Haley was cut.

I wonder if they're thinking about keeping Allen for the 5 games out west just to have him with the team and they'll send him to Hartford when we get back east.

What are these line combos? They're horrific.

If Stepan resigns you better believe he'll remain being a center. Richards was 2/13 on face-offs his last game. He's not a good center any more.

Boyle with Kreider and Miller? Pyatt makes the team?

This team is trying to be faster. AV's WHOLE philosophy is about offensive speed and decisions.

Waivers likely required for Haley, Syvret, Johnson and Talbot. I assume that demoting them officially requires the waivers were posted.
If Talbot were claimed, I'd be a bit worried, I doubt Missiaen is NHL ready

If this is the case, I sincerely hope that the non-Mashinter games will be:

Fast-Richards-Nash
Pouliot-Brassard-MZA
Kreider-Miller-Pyatt
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett
Mashinter

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-MDZ
Moore-Stralman

This looks about right given the players who are here. I only have two questions:

1) Is Hrivik possibly going to replace Fast... or Kreider?

2) With the combination of J Moore and Allen's performances, is there a chance that MDZ gets moved this season...? Maybe sooner rather than later? He's always been a square peg in a round hole on the right side and Allen looks comfortable there. As for his offense, he remains interesting on the rush, but he just doesn't bring it (regardless of which side he plays) on the PP, while Moore looks equally good on the rush - and far superior on the PP...

Ok guys a little I picked up digging around
As I stated at the draft team likes Mashinter and his size . They gave him a few shifts with Nash last time he played. And he may stick as extra forward or first call up once they pushed around.

JT Miller jumped past Kreider last night in coaching staffs eyes in one game ..
Bickel still here cause he is dirt cheap but I was told they have sent feelers out for a trade ..
More then one player of interest on waivers but nhl contracts are at a premium

Connor Allen has really impressed the staff with his work ..
Team is down on d numbers 7-9 big time none have stood out or looked impressive at all..
Now more bad news the undertaker knee still not 100% and did not play a second pre season game because of being to sore! not a good sign
Haley just didn't show enough physically or offensively he did impress on ok.

Talbot has a two way deal so pretty sure hes no eligible. Others are though with one way deals and Syvret as a vet

so I guess you didn't read the line that said Forwards in no order:laugh:

Was just listing whos around still. I have no freaking clue what they do without Cally and Hagelin to start the yr. Stepan can still sign and be there opening night

By the second half of the AHL season Kristo will be a point a game player in it.

It makes sense for Bickel to stay around as the 8th defenseman....he won't play unless it's an emergency situation because Falk can be around in case a player gets injured for a decent amount of time like Staal did like here. Bickel on the other hand is if it will be a situation where they find out the day of the game or on the road where they can't call anyone up immediately. Bickel won't be taking time from a rookie in Hartford who needs to develop but he won't be a big piece to the Rangers everyday lineup.

Allen needs to play everyday in the top 4 in Hartford and if he does play well, then that gives us a good problem to have.

Plus he is cheap and tough, and can play 2 minutes a game at forward in case of a goon is on the other end of the ice.

They will need (4) more cuts from the forwards before the first game at the very least. Will all (4) come from Mashinter, Fast, Hrivik, Lindberg, Kreider, Miller?

No, esp. as to 4 cuts at F.

Miller has earned a stay.
Kreider is excellent w/Miller. It is last year of ELC mgmt wants the ball rolling. kreider and Miller SHOULD BE automatic, w/only ? being who is their RW....

AV be damned. Pyatt goes. Powe is a certain 2nd.
One of Mashinter, who I agree has some potential, but is overrated goes.
Hrivik is in the mix and may push them both out, hopefully.

That could be 3 or 4, depending upon how you count it.

The one who really should, really MUST go is Richards.
He is barely NHL player at this point.
He CAN'T be kept on the roster. Spots are too valuable.

Do a Redden, send him down, no playing to risk injury that will screw us.
He shows up, dresses, does not play.

That is the only sane way out of that mess, and its carry over to the current roster.

Miller IS more polished than Kreider at this stage, but that's no big whoop. CK and JTM together w/correct RW have potential to be commanding if not dominant line.

Big picture. Smart move is both stay together here.
