I feel like he's almost a lame duck. 1 maybe 2 seasons left. He's gonna hold the franchise hostage in his system. He doesn't even wanna fire KG.

I think we'd be better off with a new system. If TC can't stay long enough to implement it then why not leave?

It just feels like the right time. Tons of UFA, 2 coordinators should be fired. Let's get a new regime started IMO.

Eh. They had a top 10 defense. Not sure why they want to clean house.

7-9 is bad. But it's not that bad that they fire everyone and start over

I don't buy the no help argument. Because he's also playing against crappy teams.

And I'm not comparing numbers. I'm comparing physical ability. Barr on the edge is an absolute freak. His length + his bend is scary.

Mack is more of a blitzer to me. Send him against a back or a TE and he can be devastating. Send him against an OT and he's going to get stoned

Eh, doesn't matter with crappy teams. He dominated Ohio State. They had nothing for him.

It's hard to do anything when you're getting doubled. Crappy teams or not. It also doesn't help that they ran away from him every play. I saw about 3 and a half of his games (really grainy ESPN 3 footage) and I think he's a guy who is better than his numbers for sure.

Like I said. I'm not comparing numbers. There is little doubt Mack is an excellent run defender. He beats up TEs and FBs all game. He is a natural SAM.

I'm just concerned he won't find a significant role outside of the base defense.

Barr & Mack are both studs IMO

Mack has best motor in the draft. He's a missile on every play.

Barr is rare combo. He's an extremely rich man's Kiwi. He can pass rush & cover TEs.

I think Mack has a higher floor while Barr's ceiling is far higher.

The thing that concerns me most is our coaching staff. I don't trust them to use him properly. I'd prefer Dennard over him because of that.

I'm not concerned with how they use him. The Sam position in the 43 under is perfect for him. As it was for Sintim.

But the key is if they can stay on the field all three downs. Sintim couldn't stay on the field any downs, but that's a different issue

I just don't see the value, man. Not at a top 15 pick.

I'd rather take Dennard (CB) at 12 and A.J. Johnson (MLB) with our 2nd round pick. Johnson is raw but I think he has equal potential to Mosley. And we get a gigantic upgrade at CB, too. Get the best value out of both positions that way.

I can understand questioning positional value.

I wouldn't hate Dennard at all. I'd be a little worried about our lack of speed w him & prince at CB. But a good DC would make it work.

If the Oregon kid at CB comes out I like him too.

It sucks Reese grasped for Pugh last year when the draft was STACKED at DB.

Beatty worries me now. If we could get a legit stud LT at 12 I wouldn't be mad.

Stud LT at 12 & get a stud G late round 1/early 2 sure would help our offense.

God this team is riddled with roster holes

Pugh has been very good though. So can't complain about it really.

Can't see them drafting an OT early. It's a miss use of assets. If Beatty does come back and play early (which it's believed he will) then your high draft pick ot plays where? Move Pugh? What if Pugh for whatever reason is a bad guard? You've screwed up that for no reason. Depth at OT is needed. Interior OL is needed. A high pick at OT isn't. Unless you believe beatty's career is done

I don't think Pugh was "very good".

I'd say solid. He seemed to regress in final few weeks IMO. Felt like more pressures late. I haven't looked at his pff grades to compare.

Pugh can improve. I just think it was Willie Joe 2.0. They just had to take a OT even though so many had already gone. It was such a need based pick & that just blows as a strategy.

Beatty had 1 good year. I was behind signing him because he was really good last year. Now he was terrible this year. Plus he broke his leg in the last game. Who knows what he will be now.

I think pretty much every draft evaluator thought Pugh would be better G than T.

If Beatty comes back well then yes I would move Pugh inside.

The player you draft could also move inside if that was best.

Plenty of T have moved inside historically.

Beatty has always been good. This was the first year he played poorly.

Pugh was the best rookie OT in the league.

And I've been hoping beyond hope that Ryan Shazier will be there in the 2nd for the giants to take. He is by far my favorite player in this draft

It helps when the top 2 drafted get hurt & Long moved to G(& was a stud). Was he better than the kid in Phi? Better than Fluker?

I think he was solid, not great. I don't think he was much better than Locklear was.

I still think it was a reach value wise.

I hope he turns into a stud. We are stuck with him now.

I like him a lot too & I really HATE OSU.

I just feel like a 3down MLB is more important overall.

I like Telvin Smith from FSU as a mid round LB.

Justin Pugh finished with the best @PFF grade of any 1st round rookie tackle. from Pete Damilatis*‪#‎nyg‬*‪#‎giants

Gilbride is a freakin imbecile. When I get confirmation that he's been fired, I'll be sloppy drunk from celebrating.

Yea, like I said, it doesnt really make sense to move him to guard. If he can play well at RT, you keep him there, and you worry about getting better guards.

You dont switch a guys position who is playing well there just because.

I wouldn't call it "just because." It's because you have the chance to have an all-pro guard with him or just a good tackle. All of his skills transfer to RG. We are talking another decade-long elite guard like we had with Snee.

I mean, we can go after Gabe Jackson as a G, too, and pair him with Pugh. Either option is fine with me but we really need to bolster the G position. I would prefer more of a mauler as my RT, though. Pugh just doesn't have the body style to play that way.

When all is said and done, the Beatty situation complicates things a ton, though. We may end up drafting a tackle early and moving the tackle to RT the season after when Beatty is healthy. The entire draft is just up in the air with Beatty, now.

I remember that a lot of the first round linemen had negative PFF grades throughout the year- did Pugh finish positive or was this just a really bad year from 1st round tackles? I know Joeckel and Fischer weren't any good.

Not that it should come as any real shock to fans who watched the 2013 carefully, but a report by The Star-Ledger suggests that the New York Giants are very interested in retaining linebacker Jon Beason, whom they acquired earlier in the year for a seventh-round pick, and that there's a "strong likelihood" he will return in 2014.

Also read that Rolle is open to a contract extension, due to account for 9.5M on the cap next season.

I just hate this idea that Pugh has unlimited upside at guard but he's maxed out at tackle based on nothing but his arm length. It makes absolutely no sense.

What if for whatever reason Pugh struggles at guard? What do you do then? Put your first round rookie OT on the bench all year? It's a total waste of resources
