I just hate this idea that Pugh has unlimited upside at guard but he's maxed out at tackle based on nothing but his arm length. It makes absolutely no sense.

What if for whatever reason Pugh struggles at guard? What do you do then? Put your first round rookie OT on the bench all year? It's a total waste of resources

He wouldn't struggle at RG. It's a natural transition from RT. This isn't David Diehl (who struggled at RT before struggling at G). And why would the rookie be on the bench "all year?" Beatty's return for next year is uncertain at best.

Frankly, Pugh can excel all over the line. He's going to be either a good tackle or an elite interior lineman. It just depends on what direction the team wants to go in.

Coughlin / Gilbride system is getting very interesting. Giants are going to debate Gilbride's future tomorrow with TC, JR, and Mara. Rumors abound now that Coughlin may be forced out if he refuses to fire Gilbride.

I wonder if the Giants will consider Amaro or Ebron at 12. It would depend on the new OC, I think. But if we could get a guy who would understand how to utilize a TE, they'd both be solid picks (particularly Ebron).

I've watched a ton of TX Tech this year & Amaro looks very frustrating to me. Seemed like he made a lot of mental mistakes.

I'd rather have Ebron of the 2.

This draft is gonna be really interesting because of the QBs.

I kind of hope a player like Watkins drops to us & we can move back just a couple picks for good value.

With all the rumors of Gilbride getting the axe running rampant I would be shocked if they kept him. Especially since fan reaction to the rumor was basically 1000% positive. Mara will definitely take note of that IMO.

Everyone was so non committal
"We want Tom back"
"Tom wants to come back"

That seems to say IMO, that they haven't agreed on something big yet.

Would Tom truly leave/force a firing over Gilbride? He's loyal but I doubt it.

Quinn needs to be fired too. He's worse than Gilbride.

We'll have to disagree with Amaro, I guess. I like Amaro a LOT. Watched him pretty extensively. I think I'd rather have Ebron, but both are pretty awesome. Amaro can just demolish DBs with his size and speed.

But yeah. The QBs are gonna decide the draft. We may see five QBs go in the top 12.

Six teams actually need QBs. It's looking like Tampa may pass on a QB even though they need one. Although Schiano being fired may change that completely. Who knows? I think you see Bridgewater, Manziel, Carr, Bortles, and Hundley go in the top 12 for sure.

You have an outside chance that teams after the 1st reach on guys like Boyd, Mettenberger, and McCarron, too. I could see EIGHT QBs going in the first two rounds. Would help us out greatly in the 1s and 2nd round.

Well, the rumor is Tom refuses to fire Gilbride. He's been with him for a while. So it may be more complicated than it appeared to be before.

My only fear is if Coughlin goes that Fewell steps in at HC.

I think that'd be a huge mistake.

I'm fine with Coughlin going, but replacement will be tricky.

Shaw doesn't seem ready to leave Stanford yet :(

I see Amaro's potential I'm just saying if u can pick I pick Ebron.

I think Amaro has some Marty Bennett type brain lapses. That won't stop him from being very good.

It all depends on our OC, anyway. We need an OC that knows how to utilize a receiving TE.

Yeah, I would really love to see Eli in a different scheme.

I think he's been in a high risk scheme since day 1 & maybe could be better in a new scheme.

Also, an OC that can make adjustments in the game lol

Giants have so many holes to fill IMO (OL, DL, RB (this depends on Brown), TE possibly a WR to replace Nicks unless we think it can be Randle?.. BPA this year will likely be the best way to go and I'm not always for that.

BPA is always the way to go in the nfl IMO.

Yeah, Reese has a huge mess to clean up. I'm not that confident he can. He's been horrible at drafting anything outside of round 1.

RB(both have injury & fumbling probs)

WR- true #1? Another outside WR

TE-we have projects & mediocrity

OL-only 2 competent T under contract

DL-ok shape if JPP rebounds IMO

LB-wasteland

CB-solid #2 in prince & ?'s

S-stud in Hill who could get suspended any time, Rolle

McBride has cemented himself as out #2 CB with Prince as our #1. Looking less and less like they go hard after a CB in the draft.

We can still use another CB even with those two guys. The injury bug likes biting us for some reason

Well, I meant in the 1st round. They've been linked with Dennard for a while. McBride's play and Beatty's injury may see them go OT in the 1st and CB in the 2nd or 3rd (LB in whichever round they don't go CB in).

We have a lot of needs. Good thing it's a deep draft.

The thought is we'll get a 5th round compensatory, too.

I wouldnt be surprised to see them go O-line in the 1st round like you said but i think LB will go before CB or even WR before CB depending on Nicks. I think Reese finally realizes how much a good LBer helps the team and i also think Beason stays

Every year, mock after mock has the Giants drafting a LB in the first round.

Every year, they don't wind up taking one. Could this be the year? Sure. But barring a radical shift from Reese I wouldn't bet on it.

The Giants don't need a WR, they need a good tight end, good offensive line, and a starting CB to play opposite Prince.

Then, they can worry about

A big #4 WR
A receiving running back
Linebacker depth
DE Depth

But those goals are tertiary to fixing the O line and never having to play McBride as a starting CB ever again.

Webster should be gone, Jacobs and Ross should be back for cheap depth. NYG have a good set of safety options

Well, if Beason stays, then we would only be looking for an OLB replacement for Rivers, I'd guess. Would likely target Mack for that.
