I'm just not as sold on Geno. I guess you can reassess next year. Idzik will conceivably spend money on protecting Geno and giving him weapons.

Need a WR in the 1st. A RB in the 2nd. Another WR via FA. A TE via FA. and 2 linemen via FA.

That's just on offense.

I don't see how you can't re-assess. He's had a laughably bad line with pass protection and he only has one weapon on offense -- Kerley. Funny that when Kerley plays he looks OK.

Jets should be going WR in first, OG in second, TE in third. All offense.

Hill looks like a complete bust, too. Man alive is he bad. He was one of my sleepers in that draft. I guess there's a reason he didn't catch much in college . . .

I wanted Hill as a sleeper too. What's terrible is that Alshon Jeffery was still available at the same spot in the draft.

I don't think you do an OG in the 2nd. You need talent. Get vets through FA. We have 40-50 mill. Invest on the line. Enough of the rookie bandaids - Winters and Ducasse.

Draft best available RB. Either trade a 3rd and the 2nd to get in the late 1st round or if someone like Lacy is available in teh same spot in the draft in the 2nd, draft him then with your own early 2nd. Jets will have a top 10 pick in both rounds.

Heath Miller is available as a FA, I believe. He can block and catch. What we lack in a TE. Sign him.

The year after that, take another WR, like the Falcons did with Julio Jones after they got White. Can't get all the positions you need in 1 offseason, but you can certainly fill a lot.

I think they really do. The strength of the line has been run blocking. Billal isn't going to cut it as our agility back. He has barely done anything this season. Ivory has been much more dominant and noticeable, despite injury problems.

You HAVE to do a guard early. Your guards are terrible and are one of the main reasons your QB has milliseconds to throw the ball. Drafting a RB in the 2nd would be Pejorative Slured. Just re-sign who you have. Plus, Ben Tate is going to be a FA. So is Andre Brown.

The OT/OG class is very deep. If Cyril Richardson (OG) or Austin Seferian-Jenkins (TE) is there in the 2nd, you can't justify taking some RB over them.

Go after a guy like Charles Sims in the 4th round if you are that hot for a RB.

Would be really stupid to draft a RB early. I have no clue why the Jets would do that with the other holes they have (WR, G, and TE).

Im suggesting to go the FA route to fill that hole. Then draft more talent, which is what we sorely lack on offense. You need play makers. You're telling me Powell is the playmaker you want? I don't care if he's competent. Get a dominant RB. We had success with a running attack. It takes pressure off of inexperienced QB's. I think RB is one of the biggest needs on the team.

Running back is not an important position and you can plug almost anyone in and get good results. There's only a few real elite backs that are much better than everyone else. Look at the leaders in y/a this year. Ellington (6th round), Murray (3rd round), McCoy (2nd round), Charles (3rd round), Bush (1st round), Bernard (2nd round), Morris (6th round), Jennings (7th round), Forte (2nd round), Peterson (1st round).

Ivory himself is 14th in ypa in the mix with a huge bunch of guys. Obviously he's not a good receiver but hes a perfectly good and capable back.

Jets should sign Tate instead of using a pick on a position like RB. They need help at other positions before RB

I fail to see how RB is one of the biggest needs. It's pretty clearly WR and G. Those are the two gigantic holes that are killing you guys week in, week out. Re-sign Ivory and go after Ben Tate as a FA.

TE is a much bigger need than RB, too, I'd say.

Its a throwing league and you need good receivers before a good RB

Exactly. The Jets have ONE dependable receiver. Kerley. That's it. It's sort of incredible just how bad the other receivers are. Winslow is OK now and then, but I think he's pretty shot (although when Kerley is in the game, he opens up space for Winslow). At least Cumberland looks like he can be an OK #2 TE.

Ivory signed a 3 yr extension I believe.

Also, RB absolutely has to be considered as important of a need as WR and OG. I'd say it's 3rd on the list of needs. Since I'm suggesting to sign 2 guards in free agency, I would think after WR in the 1st round, you need a RB in the 2nd.

We lack a play making RB. We have the bruiser in Ivory, but it's hit and miss with him. He's the change of pace back we need. He shouldn't be the main option.

Geno is set up in a position to fail. Not only because he doesn't have adequate protection and receivers but because he doesn't have a running back that consistently get him a large chunk of yards. He's constantly in 3rd and long situations because our backs aren't getting the job done. Even worse, neither Billal or Chris can catch the ball. Meaning that's an option we completely lack - short screens to our running backs are a very common offensive play that can get a nice chunk of yardage with an agile running back.

Atlanta had Turner in his prime for Ryan's first few years. Seattle has Lynch. SF has Gore.

Unless you're team has just drafted like Andrew Luck, I think it's pretty obvious you need not only an adequate running back but a dominant one to help him grow in this league. Especially for Geno, who when the team is down decides to go commando.

How the heck would RB be AS IMPORTANT of a need as WR? I don't even see how you can say that with a straight face.

Let's say I chunked the 3 together. All are important. I've been saying that priority should go to WR in the 1st. Then priority should go to signing 2 veteran guards via FA.

Immediate priority after both of those, should be to draft the best available RB. That's my argument. Not before drafting a WR. Not before signing the veteran OG's. But after both.

But there's like 3 real elite RB in the NFL right now (Peterson/Charles/McCoy) and then a huge bunch of them are extremely similar

But RB isn't that big of a priority with Ivory. You already have a RB who has shown he can do well. Spending a top 2 round pick on a RB is Pejorative Slured unless the guy is a gamebreaker. It's why I was so annoyed when the Giants drafted David Wilson in the first round.

There isn't even anyone that I would touch with a 10-foot pole in the 2nd round. All of them look like 3rd rounders or lower to me. Idzik, I'd assume, is smart enough to not burn a 2nd round pick on a RB where there isn't anyone available who is a gamebreaker.

Also, there is one good starting guard in FA this year. Jon Asamoah. The rest of the guys are as mediocre as it gets.

So with 50 mill in cap space. Let's say the #10 overall pick in the draft.

What's your plan.

I think you need veterans on the line. Faneca. Woody. There are always players cut by teams that are sought after after free agency starts. Linemen are the probably the most cut position, even if the players are good.

I think you need Evans or Watkins or worst case Lee in that 10 pick. Lee is small, we already have Kerley. Watkins and especially Evans are bigger.

Let's say we don't draft a RB in the 2nd round. TE?

I go whichever WR you feel like going with at 10.

Sefarian-Jenkins or Cyril Richardson at 42.

Either G or TE (whichever you didn't take at 42) at 74.

You need more than spare scraps at G. Frankly, I'd go after one in FA and draft one. I wouldn't draft two or sign two in FA.

I think you're going to get at least 5 good linemen who are cut because they're making too much money for the team to keep.

Happens every offseason. A team is at the cap ceiling, they need more cap to sign their talent - an expiring WR or QB they need to be able to extend. The cut the guard who's contract is bloated.

You're banking on a hypothetical happening. How any GOOD players get cut? Most of the guys that get cut are mediocre guys who are overpaid.
