Actually, a number of mocks had the Jets grabbing Wilk if he was still on the board. I know for a fact that Walter had them taking him if he was available (IIRC he had him going like 10 spots higher in the draft than he did).

Yea, Wilkerson was always attached to the Jets.

If only Revis hadn't been so greedy. If he took a reasonable amount to stay here (like 10-11 mil), we could have drafted Richardson with our original pick. Imagine still having Revis with this crazy d-line?

But it is what it is...

Revis was a great player but he was also a cancer. He never seemed to give a damn about wins or losses just being the top paid corner in the NFL. Its a shame because he is so talented but it wa sthe right move

Oh, I know. Revis was constantly fixated on being paid 16 mil (which is crazy for a corner no matter how good he is), and being the top paid corner in the NFL.

I'll tell you, I can safely say that Revis regrets not trying to work things out here. You don't think he'd rather be with this team rather than the 0-4 discombobulated team down in Tampa?

To be honest i dotn think Revis cares if tampa is 0-4 just as long as he is paid. Watch after the season he will demand to be paid 20 million per lol

To beat top teams and teams that are flat out better you need someone who is at the level that Revis was at as a CB. What he gave us and likely would continue to give us FAR surpasses anything Scott and Sanchez gave the Jets. Combined those two made about 16 mil. Revis was worth it in my opinion. The way this team is assembled they don't have a QB. They had a bad one and wanted to pretend he was good so they paid him like a good one. They also had a slightly above average wide reciever in Holmes and overpaid him like a top flight WR. I think it's nuts to overpay all of those guys and watch them fail miserably to come even close to playing up to their contracts AND guaranteed money.

Then you get a guy who does nothing but earn his money and you refuse to overpay him? 16 mil is about 4 mil too much but y'know what? Overall when you look at Holmes, Sanchez and Scott you realize this deal was more than fine ESPECIALLY if he was taking zero guaranteed money. You talk about cap consequences well there are none if you want to cut him for not living up to his end of the deal so that arguement doesn't hold water in my eyes. I just think people let aggravation (earned legitamately due to his incessant whining over money) overcome what was the better football decision. I've also seen a lot of generalizing too and I don't think you can accurately discuss a top end, HOF level player by generalizing.

Sanchez's awful play, pissy faces, moping and ability to always look intimidated pissed me off and aggravated me 1000x more than anything Revis ever said or did. Scott's big mouth did and so has Holmes. Those guys couldn't collectively hold a candle to any of Revis' contributions and combined those three made way more money than Revis and they also combined have had a much more massive :sarcasm: impact on the cap due to their guaranteed money. Try trading any of them for more than beans. I'd love an actual explanation why this is nuts or doesn't make sense though. Or was it just a flame attempt?

The Jets can clear $16.55M by cutting Sanchez and Holmes. Harris has shown he can still contribute after not playing well in 2012. Look at the all of the players who left as free agents. Greene. Landry. Bell. Keller. DeVito. Slausson. Scott and Moore retired. Have they missed any of those players? Not really. Maybe Landry but he wanted too much money. The Jets should get the four comp picks for losing those players. Cimini wrote Idzik had an eye on getting those comp picks when added replacements who were cut by their teams. Not other free agents. He traded a 4th for Ivory.

In all seriousness, what is the Giants gameplan if by Friday morning they're 0-6?

Even despite the fact that 8-8 can probably get you into the playoffs this season, I don't suspect this team of winning 8 of the next 11. Although, I'm dumb, and I'll have playoff hopes until the Giants have a 9 in the loss column

David Wilson out tomorrow night. I didn't think, aside from the fumble, that Jacobs looked too bad on Sunday. He was averaging about four a carry.

Knowing he's going in as the starter tomorrow night might also be a boost to his confidence. And, like Antrel Rolle, when he gets angry he plays better.

Rolle and Jacobs need to be more vocal leaders DURING the game. It's nice that you can sound off to the media after the game, but I want to see it on the field. Let's get some swag in this lineup.

So I have to think the Giants begin shopping Nicks. Gotta look at New England, the Jets, Chiefs, Panthers, and the Falcons as possible candidates.

As an impending UFA that will almost certainly want to test the waters, what would you be looking for in return?

Giants will likely ask for a Harvin-like return (better player with less injury history). There's also nothing to suggest he wants to test the waters. I think he signs wherever he goes.

I think they will ask for a Harvin-like return but accept something like a 2nd and a 4th, which is absurdly fair for a #1 WR. I hope that they can get more than that, but trades are always touchy in the NFL.

The Giants aren't planning to re-sign Nicks?

Peter King

LET’S MAKE A DEAL
With the trading deadline 20 days off, here are four trades I want to see. I realize only No. 1 has a chance. Just trying to help.

1. Cleveland WR Josh Gordon to S.F. for a 2014 second-round pick. Niners get the deep receiver they covet. Browns get perfect draft symmetry: two picks in each of the first four rounds next May.

2. Giants WR Hakeem Nicks to N.E. for a ’14 No. 3. Woeful Jints won’t re-sign Nicks. Pats have been playing reindeer games at WR for far too long.

3. Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez to K.C.for a’14 No.5. If Falcs fall to 1-6, they should give the TE-needy Chiefs their hero back.

4. Cleveland OLB Jabaal Sheard to G.B. for a ’14 No 2. Situational rusher Sheard would be great insurance for Clay Matthews loss. How’s seven of the top 80 picks next May sound, Cleveland?

Will take more than a #3, but yeah, they aren't going to re-sign him. Kind of absurd that King gives Cleveland a #2 for Sheard and the Giants a #3 for Nicks, but I digress.

Have to imagine the Giants can get a late 1st round pick. I really want the Jets to do it for a 2 though. Nicks has a lot of good years left where his production will match pretty much what you hope a 2nd round pick can do.I think the Jets need to get a good offensive lineman, safety, or OLB more than a WR though so I don't think I'd want to trade the 1st. Maybe a 2nd and a conditional 2nd next year (If he re-signs with the Jets or they make the AFC championship game or something like that otherwise it becomes a 4).

If I'm the Giants I'm happy with 2 2nd's or a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th especially if they have no plans to re-sign him

I'd do it. Nicks is going to walk here and I'd rather trade him and get something. 2nd and a Conditional 2nd/4th is a trade I would accept (your conditional move where the 2 becomes a 4). Very reasonable offer and I think it is good for both sides. I assume the Giants try and hold out for a first and would take a 2nd + mid round pick if a 1st can't be had.

Idzik is building the Jets through the draft. He isn't trading a draft pick for a rental and then giving that player a big contract. He can get 4 years of cheap service from the draft pick. Look at how Seattle was built. Idzik will follow that blueprint.

Nicks won't be traded as a rental. He will sign long term wherever he is traded. If Idzik can get a #1 receiver like Nicks for something like a 2nd and a 4th, he'd be nuts to pass it up. He's on a completely different level than anyone the Jets currently have.

You aren't getting a Nicks with a 2nd or 4th round pick, most likely.

The Jets never make a move for guys like that.

They could have had Boldin twice. Went for like a 4th or 5th rounder. He'd be the Jets best offensive player by a fair margain.
