Exactly. Team toughness doesn't prevent Staals injury. So why do you keep bringing it up? It's irrelevant to anything

How the hell is it irrelevant? Teams do **** to our guys knowing we wont do anything in return. The hell are you talking about its irrelevant?

Jesus. He has a minor concussion. People are here talking about "the end"... This board is ****ing ridiculous sometimes. I swear.

Nash was "near the end" too after his concussion at the beginning of the season. "He may never be the same or play again".

Bunch of arm chair doctors on this board. Might as well return any Staal merchandise I have, seeing as he's a vegetable now with no motor abilities left. :shakehead

Sauer
Cherepanov
Blackburn
Staal (maybe)
Richter
Buke

we sure do lose a lot of players to career-ending injurues

What are you talking about? You don't see the Bruins get cheapshotted.......
......
.....
...
..

Yes you do. Unless you missed the Neal incident.

And staal didn't get cheapshotted.

If we are going to argue that the rangers should respond to dirty hits fine.

But staal got hit legally. Toughness is never going to prevent a team from hitting legally.

So would someone going and punching someone in the face prevent the opposing team from making a legal hit on staal?

The answer is no. Fighting is never going to prevent a legal hit. It just won't.

If you want a reaction to some dirty hit sure. But it's never going to prevent a legal hit.

Just look at the pens bruins game. Did Thornton pummeling Orpik into the ice prevent Erikssons concussion? Of course not.

Boston is one of the most physical intimidating teams in the league, and that absolutely does not prevent opposing teams from hitting their players. Legally or otherwise

While you're right, it's been proven and numerous players have stated that opposing teams don't take as many liberties with tougher teams then with weak ones like ours.

We are getting tossed around like rag dolls this year. Its concerning. And I don't necessarily believe Nash gets his concussion last year if we are a tougher team.

You are never going to prevent an opposing team from performing legal hits. No matter how "tough" your team is.

That staal got concussed on a legal hit has absolutely nothing to do with a lack of team toughness

What is everyone here even arguing about? This is the most pointless argument. Injuries happen. Cheap shots happen. Cheap shots happen even to the toughest of teams - Boston. Clean hits happen too. It's a part of the sport. It's not about loading up on the Brashears of the world.

This argument has nothing to do with injuries. Hits are unavoidable. If someone is being an idiot and cheap shots a player its becaues they're being an idiot. Doesn't matter how tough your team is. The Sestito's of the world will do a cheap shot regardless of the goons on your team.

End of case.

Don't forget going back to Walt Tzachuk (eye injury) and JD (knees).

And don't forget the career altering injuries of guys like Mike Allison (Knee), Tomas Kloucek, and Petr Prucha, and you can throw Jessiman on that list as well :help::shakehead

Thank you.

All my point was was that Staals injury has nothing to do with a lack of team anything.

Yeah, I was being sarcasmic.

The Bruins apparently get the most cheap shots in the league. Players have been suspended 4 times this season for on-ice incidents on Bruins players:
Bruins 4
Sharks 2
Blue Jackets 1
Flames 1
Hurricanes 1
Kings 1
Oilers 1
Penguins 1
Rangers 1
Red Wings 1
Senators 1
Sharks 1
Wild 1

Man-games suspended:
Bruins 17
Blue Jackets 10
Sharks 8
Kings 5
Red Wings 5
Rangers 3
Wild 3
Flames 2
Hurricanes 2
Oilers 2
Senators 2
Penguins 1

Can ya'll leave the circular toughness arguments to, ya know, the toughness thread, so I can all together avoid those discussions?

This sucks.

Yea. I was figuring you might have been. Wasent positive.

In any case I agree. Beat on a guy/team physically and they get chippy and take cheap shots.

he didnt get injured, he got traded as part of the deal for Derek Morris and then played about 2 years on the Coyotes and the left the NHL

Stop, just stop it. Everyone knows that Tom Renney is the singular reason Petr Prucha isn't a star right now.

"Minor concussion".

There are no "minor concussions".

The Rangers never used that term.

Second documented concussion in less than three years.

He doesn't have full vision in the right eye. Blurry vision.

No reason to be concerned.
