Yeah, and obviously that won't work for selling everything because the prices are stupid high. But they'll never publicly discount their product for unsold seats, instead they're going to dump the extra inventory out the back door at wholesale prices to scorebig, goldstar, etc...

The secondary market has become such a part of tickets / attendance that teams havve to do everything possible to embrace / understand it.

I find it fascinating and always enjoy the threads that provide thoughts and ideas.

The Rangers are a little different than the Devs, Islanders, Mets, Yankees in that they have such a small inventory of tickets that the average fan can actually afford.

The Dolans are always roasted here, but they could easily get 30% more per ticket from STH in the 200/400 sections yet they have not gone there.

however, i don't think they can raise their prices significantly because people are paying now as a result of the product on the ice. the rangers are relevent again, and people are willing to pay high prices to see a winning team. in 5 years if the team is crappy and aren't making the playoffs, you will see a significant drop in STHs if the nose bleed 200 level seats were going for $100 Face Value.

right now the 200 row 1 gallery seats are $135 for STHs. that's insane if you look at the season ticket prices for row 1 seats in any other NHL arena. and can you imagine increasing it 20% to 162/seat for 41 games...

I agree the Row 1 gallery seat pricing is pushing it. It's actually at or pretty close to full market value imo...which is why I let mine go this summer. But the price of Rows 2+ are actually not terrible. Sure, they are a lot more than they were 5 years ago...but you still won't have a difficult time selling them for $10-$20 a pop over face if you need to unload them. At least as long as the team remains competitive.

They bring you a folding chair. What's good is you can adjust the chair to give yourself more leg room.

Anything over $100 has less re-sales value (as a percentage over face)
People now are looking to "get in the bulding" as cheap as possible vs the way it was 15 years ago when you always wanted the best possible seat.

The product and buzz around the team has been good the past few years. I have $53 seats. The last three years the absolute minimum has been to get money back. There will be games like Opening night and Vancouver game this season that I can likely sell for $125 or more if I wanted to.
Those are the seats where I feel like the Rangers have not gone 100% greedy. They could charge $70 for my seat and still easily sell it IMO.

No, they can't.

1) Just because on the secondary market people are willing to pay the mark-up 1 game at a time, doesn't mean they will be able to get people to buy every seat to every game at the 30% mark-up. If they increase the price 30%, you would see the supply increase and the quantity demanded would drop, thus lowering the equilibrium price.

2) there are people who a) buy tickets just to sell and b) pay more than they can really afford with the thought that they will sell some of the game for a profit to off-set their own cost of attending. If you raise their cost, you are cutting into their profits, and you will lose them as customers. The market will only support a secondary price so high, regardless of the face value. The face on my seats is $53, I could likely get around $80 each for most games, about a 60% mark-up. However, if MSG jacked up my price to $70, I am certainly not going to get the same mark-up ($112 each) for most games. They know they have to leave a little meat on the bone for these people.

Part of the problem with the Yankees is they are trying to get every dollar for themselves, and tickets do not work that way. As I tell a friend of mine who every time he goes to a casino tends to be up big after a few hours only to give it all back and then some, you can't get every chip in the casino.

I have only kept 7 games this year for myself. Not a financial thing, just have some things coming up that it will be very difficult to go to games. I sold most of my tickets to 4 different people, all for face value. I am ok with just getting my money back for games I do not attend. When the prices are to the point where I am eating games, then I am going to drop the tickets.

I seriously doubt Selanne's last game in MSG will have any impact on the prices. It is a monday night in november against a Western Conference team. Shouldn't have a problem getting tickets for close to face value.

Just had a look at the second presale the Rangers did today. They were offering up most of the upper bowl, but still at premium prices. The upper portion of the 200's were still going for around $155, in addition to that insane $20 service charge.

I was looking to get tickets this year, was looking at section 415, 416, etc, and the ticket prices on ticket master are $68-75 a seat, but it says "LIMITED viewing." Can anyone describe this? Does it make a significant difference?

I'm tired of going to see the Rangers at the Prudential Center or Nassau Col to see my team. I used to go to 5+ Ranger games at the Garden every year, but the prices have just gotten insane to take a family to a game.

All those seats are obstructed, they price them at $30 per game on a season basis. They're obstructed because you can't see the Rangers net

Don't waste your time with ticketmaster, they haven't released the good stuff yet and they mark up tickets substantially

Yeah, you're better off buying from people on here or waiting for good deals on StubHub or TicketsNow especially since the Rangers are doing dynamic pricing now.

Quantity supplied vs quantity demanded. I could easily get $100 plus for my tickets and I am upstairs. Might not make sense to you to pay it, but enough people are paying it that there is no incentive for sellers to drop their prices.

Don't want to miss any action? The bathroom is right around the corner. I've gone to the restroom and back well within the TV break. Need a beer? Beer stand is right by the portal. Want some pizza? The pizza vendor is a 30 second walk away.

All tickets are going for face value ($82) plus Paypal fees. Games tagged "AA" require the purchase of 2 "C" games. "A" games require the purchase of 1 "C" game. "B" and "C" games have no additional purchase requirement.

Hey, I don't know how close you live to the garden but I am about an hour away and every once in awhile I will buy tickets 90 minutes before game time and scoop up an amazing deal on like stubhub. Especially if you do a weekday game against a bad team.

Was able to score madison club for $100 each before fees on ticketsnow. If you are patient and persistant enough you can get an amazing deal every so often. Not to forget the great people on this board who sell for there season ticket price.
