Hockey Canada has lost its focus and Way. Its about picking the best team and not the over hyped players that the NHL teams pick in the first round. I hope that the posters on this board have come to the conclusion there are no generation players or any player worth tanking and embarrassing ourselves for.

Hockey Canada needs to fire everyone associated with it and start over. What a mess they are in.

What a mess hockey canada is, they only produce elite NHL players year after year.

Canada could produce elite players without even trying. He was obviously talking about the selection of teams, not the overall grassroots development of hockey players.

It was fun watching McDavid and Eichel, but the gap between 16 and 19 year olds is just too great to compare ability. I was hoping for a bit more from Sam Reinhart though. Also, Tampa got one heck of a player in Drouin.

Reinhart was just as good or better than Drouin who one of was the biggest disapointments on Canada in the tournament.

Hyperbole after hyperbole after hyperbole. All of your posts constantly boil down to theatrics.

I didnt think Eichel looked out of place at all.

again, like I've already said. It looks like Reinhart plays at a slow pace and looks sluggish because he isn't always at full speed first onto the forecheck or not blistering past players for breakaways. He dominates the game with his presence, his hockey IQ, it's little things like blocking a passing lane in the neutral zone, a stick lift at his own blue line to spring an odd man rush, little things like that which won't necessarily make the highlight of the night on sportscenter but will have just as much importance as Ovechkin ripping a slapper from the slot on in OT. He's huge. And, Matt Dumba is the most overrated, over hyped, garbage defensman I've ever seen, by far the worst defensman on team Canada, I can think of 3-4 other players who would've greatly helped team Canada (namely Nurse) his awful decisions, terrible defensive play and always trying to do to much with the puck is infuriating as a Canada fan :shakehead Go Finland!!

I didnt get to see much of the tournament at all, but in regards to Reinhart, ive read a few scouting reports that liken him to Jonathon Toews. Does that comparison seem to hold up?

As prospects yes. Time will tell if Reinhart can have the huge growth in his game after being drafted like Toews.

They certainly are similar. Now it's all about Reinhart's development

Drouin is a terrific player with great wheels and puck possession. The numb nuts on with him seemed to expect him to beat 2 or 3 players to get them a pass. Yes he held the puck a lot but I was looking to scream pass and there was no one in an open lane. I still do not see the love for Sam Reinhart-he looks ok but to say he would be a top 4 or 5 pick last year is something I am still not buying.

Zadorov was ripped at the draft for no offensive capability. He has a very good shot in my opinion and can lug the puck out of his zone.
Grigorenko was ripped for defence but did a hell of a job killing penalties in this tournament. He lacks breakaway speed but has vision, hands, and with his size, good puck possession skills.
Ristoleinen just has good overall skills.
Girgensons has shown he has ability and drive.

So whoever Devine picks I will not cavil.

Sam Reinhart goes #5 last year at best. I still take MacKinnon, Barkov, Drouin, Jones and Monahan over him.

I agree. Drouin was not very impressive. His lack of discipline and always trying to beat the whole team rather than making the smart simple play really hurt Canada.

Reinhart was solid, not spectacular, overall for the tournament. Considering his age he was great.

Not sure why some posters keep saying they'd take Monahan over Reinhart. Reinhart is slightly better at virtually every aspect of the game.

He is better than Monahan.

And even though he is probably 3-5 in 2013 he would probably have been the first pick in a draft like 2012 and a top 3 pick in drafts like 2010 and 2011.

THIS poster would take Monahan (a known quantity by a year) over Reinhart. I disagree with your opinion...that's OK. That being said, I still hope the Sabres draft Reinhart. Unfortunately, this may be a poor year to have the #1 pick. I prefer McDavid, MacKinnon, RNH, Hall and Tavares. Right now I take Reinhart over Yakupov (even though Yak's prospect rating is higher).

Yes but why? Opinions are opinions but when Reinhart is very clearly better than Monahan at nearly every aspect of Hockey I ask why. I would hesitate to call Monahan a known at this point as well. I think Monahan is closer to Bo Horvat in terms of prospect quality than he is Reinhart.

Finland Beats Canada To Advance To WJHC Gold Medal Game - The Canadian Press - Official TSN Website - TSN.ca - Saturday, January 4.

Malmo, Sweden - Canada will go without a gold medal at the world junior championship for a fifth consecutive year. Canada's gold-medal hopes ended Saturday as Finland scored three times in the second period and held on for a 5-1 semifinal victory at the World Junior Hockey Championships.

Canada will play for bronze on Sunday against Russia, which lost 2-1 to host Sweden in a game that ended in a brawl. Canada lost the bronze-medal game to the Russians last year in Ufa to end a run of 14 years of finishing in the top three. Sweden will play Finland in an all-Nordic gold medal game.

http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/story/?id=440378

World Juniors TV Schedule - Sunday, January 5.

9:00 am ET - Bronze Medal Game - Canada vs Russia - LIVE - NHL Network in the United States - TSN in Canada.
Pre-Game - No pre-game on NHL Network. NHL Tonight is on 8:00 am ET-9:00 pm ET. Pre-Game on TSN starts at 8:30 am ET.
(Since they are picking up TSNs coverage of the game anyway, why not start the coverage at 8:30 am ET when TSN starts their coverage. Guess you don't want to piss off the five people who wait until 8:00 am ET on Sundays to watch NHL Tonight when they could instead watch any of the other showings that take place between 1:00 am ET-8:00 am ET. LOL!)
Post-Game - Coverage on both NHL Network/TSN is scheduled to go to 12:00 pm ET.
Replay - NHL Network - Sunday - 4:00 pm ET-7:00 pm ET.
Online - "LIVE" on TSN.ca (Canada only) - Unfortunately no online feed at NHL.com for us here in the United States.
(I'm guessing pre-game on TSN.ca begins when pre-game on TSN begins - 8:30 am ET and post-game ends whenever coverage on TSN ends.)

1:00 pm ET - Gold Medal Game - Sweden vs Finland - LIVE - NHL Network in the United States - TSN in Canada.
Pre-Game - None on NHL Network. NHL Tonight is scheduled - 12:00 pm ET-1:00 pm ET.
None on TSN - TSN The Reporters with Dave Hodge is scheduled - 12:00 pm ET-1:00 pm ET.
Post-Game - Coverage of the game on TSN/NHL Network is scheduled to end at 4:00 pm ET. TSN has a half-hour post-game scheduled - 4:00 pm ET-4:30 pm ET. NHL Network has a replay of the Bronze Medal Game scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm ET. Would be nice if NHL Network showed all of TSNs coverage but I expect them to end their coverage after all the ceremonies end or at 4:00 pm ET - whatever comes first.
Replay - NHL Network - Sunday - 7:00 pm ET-10:00 pm ET. TSN - 8:30 pm ET-11:00 pm ET - TSN2 - Monday - 12:00 am ET-2:30 am ET.
Online - TSN.ca (Canada only) - Unfortunately no online feed at NHL.com for us here in the United States.
