I keep seeing this comment from several posters. Has he been brutal? Or just not playing to a high level?

I wouldn't say brutal, he's just been below average. I expected more from him. He seems athletic but without much hockey sense.

Thanks for the response. On a separate note, I'm really glad our kids have been able to play in this tourney. All 3 seem to have risen to the occasion.

Canada could produce elite players without even trying. He was obviously talking about the selection of teams, not the overall grassroots development of hockey players.

correct! The CHL is not hockey canada which is good a developing, however the Hockey Canada program from the under 17s all the way up to WJC teams are a MESS. I don't care if Druin is in the NHL as a healthy scratch game after game and picked for this tourny. Its about picking the best team period, even if its a 19 year old who is playing better than these overated 16 year olds at the time of selection.

This team should be all older players with a few young guys like in the past.

This team doesn't even pick the best goalies by performance.

Thanks for the response. On a separate note, I'm really glad our kids have been able to play in this tourney. All 3 seem to have risen to the occasion.

Its been fun watching Grigs, Zads and Risto... Especially Zads and Risto yesterday. But as far back as October I was really looking forward to catching Compher and Possler at the WJC. They were the 2 I wanted to see the most.

What a mess hockey canada is, they only produce elite NHL players year after year.

when was the last gold medal for this team? Have you watched them in this tourney, they are thoroughly out worked and out skilled each game. I am so sick of this team thinking year after year that taking penalties is how to play international hockey. If Canada produces so called Elite players year after year then why are they looking so bad here?

I get complaints about bringing a few younger guys, but have they really been the problem for Canada? From what I've seen Ekblad's been one of your best dmen, and McDavid and Reinhart have been solid. Also I don't see how you can make any argument saying Drouin shouldn't be on the team regardless of how he's played.

Its the point about how HC will sink or swim with a player such as Drouin no matter what and will not even consider giving another player who is playing better at this time.

HC may be about the sponsership money now. The team will sell out all of the Canadian city tourney games if high profile players are on it. Why does HC fight to have most of the WJC games in North America, money.

Don't feel bad for the pretentious Canadian fans in the stands with the signs like 'This Is Still Canada's Game'.

Like that US and Canada will be in the same pool next year though.

Its official, this is the worst HC WJC team since the start of the "Program of Excellence". First time back to back non meddle teams since the programs inception.
