Islands in the stream.
Why in the HOLY F*CK is he doing a Reverse VH there????????????

He literally gave Marner that goal on a silver platter.

f***ing get rid of him before playoffs please. Trade the other Skinner to open up even more cap space as we will need both a 2RD and a starting goalie.
Who knows. Last 3 Skinner games 10GA on around 15 combined HDSC. I used to think there was a 50% chance of any dangerous chance going in. Gonna have to revise that. Its so bad with Skinner you just know its a goal before the light is flashing. For sure the breakaway and the Marner winner. I didn't think Skinner was stopping either. Looked like 3 Leafs goals in 3 consecutive chances. First goal was Skinner kicking out rebound as well. Just doesn't do anything well.

How high is that puck on that angle? Almost impossible to tell. There was an other angle on the broadcast that looked to me like it was around 10" but then again its just a guess.

Your point about Skinners unusual positioning is valid though.
I've watched like 4 different angles and they all look like its pretty clearly below pad height to me. There's even an ice level one where it looks below pad height when its hitting the post.

The funny thing about the positioning is Marner probably doesn't even shoot there if Skinner's in the proper position. Him opening up was basically begging Marner to hit a wide open window inside the post. Honestly Marner could have missed that shot by a foot and it would have gone in.

So yeah again with this all ahead full and let Fuhr bail them out at the back nonsense.

Some game situations call for that, but now it’s 3 games in a row blowing a lead, maybe just maybe you tighten up at the back late.
You can also be right here.

We have had some atrocious puck management ending games

We also have a goalie we know can not bail us out much at all and just sucks

Both need to be corrected

This coach needs to grow some balls and hold guys accountable

It was a 2 on 1...no? If so where was the other Leaf player positioned?

Stats track this. The oil gave up almost nothing . This is trump supporter logic
Stats track what we give up in the last 10 minutes of regulation? We are giving up the most goals in that stretch and likely the most chances or close to it. It’s great to play unbelievable for 50 minutes but when you aren’t putting the game away early you can lose a game in the last 10 minutes.

How many times did Toronto pass it right to us in their slot late in the game? How many breakaways did they give us? Hockey is 60 minutes not 50.

Yeah but he has to respect the pass. You can’t just be down in butterfly early on a two on one.
Bouchard is taking the pass, and nothing that Skinner is doing is setting him up for the pass. If anything his movement toward the near post is going to slow down his cross ice push even more. I don't want him in the butterfly early I want him square to the shooter. Skinner moves first which is why he's so horribly out of position. Its what goalies do when they have zero confidence and/or terrible reaction time. They guess instead of reacting.

First off...hopefully Nurse is okay. Very dirty hit by Reeves...suspension is in order here.

Secondly...Bouchard was completely at fault on the 2nd goal. Just an absolutely brutal play.
Then on the 3rd Leafs goal his lazy c'est la vie skating to get back on defence was brutal to watch.
Such a shame because the team was playing such a solid 3rd period and then Bouchard happened.

Then in O/T Marner has a perfect shot off the post to win it.

Of all goals on Skinner MAYBE the 2nd goal was stoppable...maybe.
Still Bouchard just cant be that stupid with the puck. He wears the goat horns on this night.

On to Montreal.

Goalies make saves on "unstoppable" goals plenty of times. That's what they're paid to do.

Why didn’t Reilly fire into the slot to an Oiler?
A leaf, wasn't it him?, made a terrible play behind his net and stolarz bailed him out

There are more than one issue here

Goaltending at the top

Mayne D now that nurse could be out a while

PP

Bouchard stuff I seen was atrocious. Again, he doesn't do that every game.

I think most people here don't even watch more than 2/3 other games a week

Skinner guessing is actually a pretty good explanation IMO.
Goalies with little to no confidence absolutely revert to guessing.

He is not the only player either. In terms of goal scoring Nuge, Jeff Skinner, Bouchard, Arvidsson, Podkolzin et al are all struggling which means the team doesnt have the offence to overcome S Skinners mistakes.
The Goalie position is so critical. He guesses and makes the wrong read and its in the net.

So the question is...how does that get fixed without playing? Going to the AHL likely isnt an answer.

Yup. Not all the time but sometimes for sure.

Skinner isnt the only player playing with little to no conficdence right now but his mistakes stand out a lot more.

Was this reply meant for me? I'm not understanding what you're asking in relation to my post.
I cant recall where the other Leaf forward was positioned on the O/T goal. Just looking for clarification.
